lgcallieā:
ā Ė Ā seeing nova for the first time when sheās released from the hospital is refreshing. Ā maybe itās the fact that heās like the sun to her, maybe itās getting to see him out in the bustle of the real world that makes his aura all the more magical. Ā but allie hasnāt really forgotten novaās sacrifice and how often he came to see her in the hospital. Ā she hadnāt expected him to be the one who came the most, but it seems like at every turning point in time where she felt a little more down, nova was there with his wide infectious smile and eyes that beam like sunlight.
the warmth he makes her feel Ā - Ā sheās been ignoring it all this time, and itās hard to put a lid on it anymore. Ā she doesnāt think that thereās ever been a person who has cared for her quite so much as im nova.
when he asks her to come out and see him for the first time since release, allie is a little nervous. Ā of course she says yes right away, because as much as her heart aches when she sees him in a way thatās a little different than its usual pains Ā - Ā somehow, allieās grown addicted to seeing the light in his smile and the carefree look in his eye. Ā she wishes she could be like him. Ā ( Ā and allie knows what this is, but sheās also loathe to admit it. Ā )
although she no longer lives in the dorms, she makes her way out. Ā she wonders if sheāll look too worn, too run down from her hospital stay to even be seen with someone like him Ā - Ā allie wonders if sheāll pale and wither next to him. Ā still, she wants to see him; she tries her best to look a little more lively but the dark circles and the slump in her shoulders is hard to hide even with makeup and a smile.
by the time she arrives, sheās thinking too much but novaās smile and his wave in greeting washes all of it away. Ā she blinks in surprise at the drink thatās already sitting in the spot thatās saved for her, tilting her head. Ā " you already got something for me?ā
his hands are fiddling with the stray seams on his jeans, protruding from the artfully placed rips. his smile doesnāt waver though as she approaches-- if anything, it just grows wider. and itās a relief, to see her in a normal setting, outside of the sterilized white walls of a hospital. so his smile turns fond as he relaxes a little into his comfy cafe chair. and he notices the weariness-- but he doesnāt mention it, never does unless she does first, and gestures at the chair in front of him.
heās a little bit sheepish, blinking at her before he laughs a little and grins,Ā āyeah! uhm, i just got one of the drinks you got before-- but if youāre craving something else i can grab that instead.ā and he ends up leaning forward, hands clasped together in front of his little ceramic mug, just a littleĀ bit uncharacteristically. his gaze is on her intently as she takes a seat, and he has to remind himself to tone it down, averting his gaze to the passerbys on the street.
āhow are you doing?ā his tone is softer, gentle as he addresses her.Ā āiām glad to see you,ā he admits without hesitation.
āi-- uh,ā he begins, deciding to just go ahead before he lost confidence-- before he got sidetracked, before they go home with what ifs.Ā āi actually wanted to talk to you about something. but we could sit a bit, then take a walk?ā
