lgcdaeyeol:
there was a reason that daeyeol avoided english in school: it made absolutely no sense; and he had the grades to prove it. the language made him feel like a child, unable to properly express himself. his tongue felt heavy pronouncing words he barely recognized but v&a was starting to gain traction. maybe if he got better at english, he would have a shot of getting to promote his group.
but staring at the book made his brain want to melt.
he was trying to avoid it but when subin popped right next to him on the couch, a grin on his face and asking about studying, daeyeol couldn’t help but to make a face. he didn’t try to hide his emotions and instead just pouting, shutting his eyes halfway and dramatically slid himself further into the couch.
“english is hard,” he whined, glaring at his textbook on the coffee table in front of them. “i hate it,” daeyeol complained as he hoped the textbook would catch fire thanks to the strong glare in his eyes.
–––– . . . he can tell by the look on daeyeol’s face that hitting the books was the very last thing that the maknae had on his mind. subin studies him for a moment, unsure of whether or not to press the issue but daeyeol seems to continue it for him.
whether or not daeyeol hates it though, it’s still something they have to prepare for. subin is fairly fluent in japanese, but english isn’t the secondary language that he studied back in his years of schooling. at best, his knowledge of the language is minimal. “ we don’t really have a choice, though.” subin says airily, leaning forward to snatch daeyeol’s book to see just how far he’s gotten in his studies. “ and look at it this way. this time you have me.” subin grins in a proud sort of way that may lean on conceited if you knew him at all. but it’s just the truth that subin is smart - after all, if he wasn’t here, he’d probably be finishing a degree in astrophysics and going to work for nasa or something. “ don’t look like that. it’s not going to be that bad.”
