[ + / - ] ??? whatâs up with this guyâs fans trying to trend him, who even is he lmao, heâs there only thanks to the legacy name, he doesnât even have a proper work besides his bad performance on gag concert, which he ruined btw
the start of the year seemed to be kicking in full gear with great news coming down the corridors of legacy. josh peered from the side of the announcement wall, eyes glancing from one person to another from behind his glasses as he tried to catch the verbal pieces of information.
it wasnât until âsongwriting campâ and âalmost everyone can sign upâ reached his ears that his eyes widened, squeezing himself to the front so he can finally read the hangul print. his fingers tightened around the strap of his bag as he read, the lineup of instructors all listed as well as the opened sign-ups made his heart race.
yes, he hadnât felt such excitement since the audition last year. josh thought that with the amount of time poured into acting workshops and training, his mind had steered away from music, but he now knew that it wasnât the case.
he was still in love with the idea of writing songs.Â
still in love with music, even if he was doing something else completely.
stepping aside when others had pushed their way front, josh walked towards the classroom for his first lesson, dumb smile appearing on his face with each step. it was an opportunity for him to learn, an excuse for him to pick up the guitar without feeling the guilt that heâs procrastinating and wasting time when heâs behind in his peers. even if itâs just for a short while, just for a few hours, josh knew that he had to sign up for it.
thereâs no way heâs letting this chance slip if he could help it.
while heâs filled with excitement at the start of the break, josh couldnât say the same as the days were coming to an end.
it felt like he traveled back in time, when he had school and the usual summer and winter breaks, taking a long rest before school started again. josh knew that it was already rare for the company to give them so much time off at one go, especially an entertainment company.
and josh tried, he really did, to keep up with the usual schedules even in this time period. he still hit the gym at least 30 minutes a day, reviewed his korean language worksheets and spoke to the mirror every day to practice enunciation and understand different characters. even as he binged on netflix, his thoughts were deciphering the charactersâ dialogue and thought process, filling in the mental character form in his mind.
though, he didnât miss the chance to unwind when he can. work hard, play harder, right?
scrolling his phone aimlessly as the time ticked away to midnight, with training looming ahead to be back in full force, josh sunk deeper into his sheets, hiding under the blanket cocoon he built and yawned again. maybe for monday blues, heâd grab a starbucks on the way to the company?
he nodded to himself, turning off the bedside lamp and setting down his glasses.
all good things come to an end, and when tomorrow comes, his work for the new year would just begun.
as josh got older, he came to realise that nothing beats a good sleep while you can. yawning as he stretched on the bed, wriggling his toes in absolute contentment, the male stared straight ahead at the ceiling. going home was out of the question for the short 7-days, and he knew he had to keep up with the homework from his mentors during this period. it almost felt like a college break, except way shorter, but josh appreciated the âflexibilityâ in his time schedule.
studies had to continue, but at least he could do it in the comforts of the dorm, and head out for a good meal. josh briefly wondered if his roommates were around, but the dormâs silent and it was close to noon. sitting up after letting out sounds of exhaustion that of a 70-year-old, josh yawned again, running one hand through his scruffy hair.Â
he preferred his hair short - it would be easier to maintain and handle, with no worries about styling or the type of shampoo and all that yada yada. maybe heâd make a note with the company and get his hair cut, it would grow out soon enough. yeah, sounds like an additional plan to make in his holiday schedule.
heâd get some tacos and soda, then back for his script analog and homework. maybe heâd hit the gym, too, now that there wouldnât be as many people around in legacy. then grab another good meal home. oh if his roommies are around, maybe heâd even make a steak-and-potatoes dinner, three course with salad, drinks and even dessert.Â
after all, he hadnât even cooked his own meal in a few months.
josh nodded, brushing his teeth as he rubbed his bleary eyes with the other hand. at least, for the start of his holidays, things are looking pretty sweet.
what are your museâs current goals and motivations?
as 2021 draws to an end, josh is taking the time to catch a breather and prepare himself for 2022. he found a new drive, after getting relatively positive feedback from his mentor on his improvements ( ooc wise, joshâs acting points has since doubled since he moved into this path), but at the same time, josh knew that having âimprovementsâ is not exactly the same as âdoing amazingâ. after all, he did start off from the basics, have no works under his name compared to the other acting trainees and not to mention, his korean isnât as fluent as he wished.
so in the new year, he will continue to focus on acting and variety - as he felt that learning comedy and having a sense of humor is helpful not only for his language, but also in stepping into different characters. next, he will also brush up on his korean, something heâs been putting off for a long time, until he can get somewhere fluent enough for more roles and opportunities.
do you think your muse has accomplished any of their goals mentioned above? if so, how did they do it? if not, what do you think could help them accomplish that goal?
so far, josh is a steady achiever, making progress one step at a time. while he has improvements, josh would also be spending more time to brush up his skills, including spending more time with fellow trainees and alone in studio, studying scripts and more. that also meant he would have to sacrifice more time in guitar and âfree timeâ roaming seoul, but it would be a small cost to pay in his opinion. at least, he found a passion in acting, and he hoped this motivation would help last through the new year.
describe one significant memory that has happened to your muse during this trimester (positive or negative).
attending the year-end awards was definitely something new for him! not only did he manage to get some form of attention from netizens ( little, but for a fresh face, joshâs excited already ), it helped to form a little seed in his mind and set a more concrete goal, hoping that some day he would too be able to earn his own award. he also met with several artistes and actors, so thatâs definitely an interesting experience. he might not be a rabid fan of them, but it gave him an inkling of being a fanboy - itâs fun!
what is one thing you (as the mun) have learned about your muse throughout this trimester?
i guess...itâs realizing that if josh set a goal, he would be quite focused on it. josh has always been a bit more driven, but he has always been a little hyperactive, making him restless and unable to focus on one thing for a long period. however, heâs doing pretty well this trimester, finishing his tasks pretty up to date. that said, he still have times where he pick on a variety of items so that he donât get dull, but heâs definitely not struggling much at the moment, but truly immersing himself and enjoying while at it, which was surprising.
josh couldnât remember the last time he suit up like this, hair styled and make up on, decked in a nice, fitting expensive suit. heâs always been the more casual sort of guy, and even the one sole blazer he has in his wardrobe now was a gift from his sisters, but left in there more as a momento than an actual fashion piece.Â
he shook his head slightly, watching through the mirrors as the dangling earrings swing lightly with each jerk of his head. he may have studs on most of the time, but fancy ones like these were definitely new as well. itâs interesting; josh always though he wouldnât suit something like these. theyâre too pretty, suitable for the boys with softer features, but he supposed he didnât hate the look on himself.
tugging at his shirt, heâs thankful that he wasnât wearing a tie or anything of that sort, but buttoning it all the way up was suffocating enough. perhaps he could loosen it once they settle down in the audience; heâs not nominated for anything, due to the fact that he simply did not have his proper debut yet. josh knew that he should be thankful - and he was - for the opportunity to turn up at an awards show as a complete newbie, but he also thought that it was sort of weird for him to be around.
exposure certainly was something he still wasnât used to. hand raised to his face, he awkwardly dropped it when he remembered heâs wearing his contacts, not glasses. then, he pulled out his phone instead and snapped a quick selfie.
for all the make upâs worth, he should keep a photo to look back upon. to document his growth from being in the shadows to actually having more public appearances.Â
the male rotated his head, stretching. considering how heâs part of the audience, he might as well enjoy while at it, to hear more about the big names and people he should learn more about in the coming year.Â
his tummy grumbled.
well, he supposed he should grab a snack or two, cause itâs going to be hours before heâs going to have the chance to eat anything again.
Realization struck Yuzhuo as she blinked hurriedly, âItâs fine, itâs my fault anyways for not using my Korean name. Akjeong Wootak, feel free to call me Woojoo if itâs easier.â Her nameâs translation really was awkward, especially for her last name which was why she barely used it. Yuzhuo mentally slapped past-Yuzhuo on the face for not just going for a transliteration instead.Â
Yuzhuo tried keeping a dignified expression on her face as she ignored Joshuaâs not-so-subtle laughing. Itâs just a game, and you kind of had it coming, this dark history will continue haunting you for the rest of your Legacy days so you may as well get used to it now, she repeated in her head like some Buddhist mantra. âYou can say stupid, I donât mind,â she shrugged. At any rate, it was a fair assessment if that was all he knew about her.Â
She laughed, âI can see why not. Will be keeping this in mind for the future. Do. Not. Trust. Legacy. Especially when thereâs a camera rolling. Are they usually this mean?â Seeing as to how Joshua was fairly open, Yuzhuo decided to prod for some extra information.Â
âAh,â Yuzhuo finally responded after a beat of silence, âI see.â She picked up a die, giving it a quick inspection. âYou could take my turn if you want,â she offered, âdouble the chances right?â Never mind that that was not how probability worked. Not that Yuzhuo cared too much about the details anyways.Â
She rolled the die. A 4. Yuzhuo handed the other die to Joshua. âYour turn, letâs see how long itâll take us to hit a double.â
he listened to the korean name, repeating it in his mind once before he nodded. between the more familiar korean pronunciation and the chinese name, josh figured that it would be way easier to settle for something he wouldnât have too much troubles saying. âalright then, woojoo-ssi.âÂ
laughing once more before he cleared his throat, josh shook his head. ânah, we all have our moments.â it was followed by a firm nod and casual shrug - after all, theyâre all there to have a game of fun. in fact, he wouldnât be surprised if sheâs mistaken the rules to begin with. âas long as you know now~â
âwell, are you guys usually this mean?â josh repeated, adding a pout before he crinkled his nose at the production team, obviously amused my the actions. âwell, âmeanâ isnât the exact word, but theyâre definitely mischievous. always hiding something up their sleeves,â he gestured, then hugged himself, chuckling, âalways be prepared.â
eyes softening slightly at the girlâs offer, josh attempted not to coo over the same way he would with his sisters. but itâs clear that yuzhuo was a kind-hearted child, and josh just shook his head, chuckling. âi donât think it would work that way, but thank you.â gesturing for her to go for the second roll, he started swaying his arms side to side, as if holding imaginary pom poms. âyou go for it, roll a double! well if we both fail, weâd just chill here for five minutes and prepare our dice roll ritual. what do you say?â
just a plot call and tracking for the latest updates. gonna update this once the acting mission is also updated next week.

josh was excited. honestly, how could he not? advertising was a huge thing here, and josh knew that it was only because heâs a legacy trainee that he managed to clinch an opportunity like this. certainly, he was one of the many chosen for it, but considering the numeration as well as the fact that this would be one of his few appearances to public, it felt like he was taking a step in the right direction.Â
plus, who doesnât want to earn money while eating chocopies?Â
hand raised to push his glasses out of instinct, josh stalled when he felt nothing on his nose bridge, before laughing to himself in embarrassment. it was rare for him to remove his glasses, especially when legacy hadnât had that rule about accessories when he went on previous programmes by the company. but the makeup team had brushed up his tired skin and decked him out in a clean, stylish outfit, and his trusty glasses were now safely kept in his bag.
or rather, he hadnât left his glasses out in front of cameras when he turned his path towards being a producer. and now, he almost felt like heâs going back into the old days of working towards being an idol.
well, as long as he doesnât have to dance, heâs all down for it.
getting ready in front of the camera for a few quick solo scenes, josh flashed his best smile according to the âscriptâ he received - a rundown of the storyboarding of what heâs supposed to do. the bulk of it was with other trainees, working on recipes using chocopie as well as group shots, so josh wasnât fretting too much when it came down to the individual scenes.
after all, theyâre going to be glimpses, if he made the cut.
might as well enjoy while at it, he reckoned, sneaking yet another half of a chocopie into his mouth when no one was paying attention, smiling in absolute bliss.
oh yeah, he would do a food-related cf anytime again.

josh looked up, a huge question mark appearing above his head as he stared at the acting mentor. pushing up his glasses, he waved goodbye to his pals quickly, making his way over as the other trainees filed out of the studio.
âyouâve been taking classes since august, right?â
âah, yes, thatâs right.â itâs already been over three months since he moved from the producerâs track to become a full-time acting trainee. it hadnât been easy, but joshâs already feeling that heâs used to the change, which said something. despite still having a favor for his guitar and music, he couldnât deny how he preferred training as an actor compared to being an idol.Â
âyouâre doing quite well despite being a rookie,â the teacher said, arms crossing over her chest as josh bit back the urge to fidget on his toes. âyour expressions are way better now compared to when you first started, and i see that you have a good memory. thatâs certainly an advantage.â
the male trainee blinked, wondering whatâs the occasion for the onslaught of...compliments. truth be told, while the mentor wasnât one stingy on giving good comments, it was odd to be asked to stay after class simply for it. scratching the sides of his cheeks in mild embarrassment, josh felt good hearing the nice words. it meant his hard work was paying off.
âbut more than just acting gestures and body language, you need to focus on your language skills.â
ah, there it comes. josh blinked dumbly, staying silent as she continued,
âyour fluency in korean will impact the kind of roles you can play in the future. there may be roles for characters who grew up in western countries and not have that much fluency, but theyâre niche. if you want to become a serious actor, you need to work on your pronunciation especially, and be comfortable with speaking the language. i noticed that you often fall baack on english with some trainees, and thatâs not helping. the more you speak, the better you get - iâm sure youâve already heard all that from your korean teacher.â
he crinkled his nose a little. thatâs true, heâs heard more than once how his korean need to buck up, but josh still put that as the least of his priorities. guess...thereâs no way out of it, unlike dancing. he sighed quietly, lips pursed slightly in a dejected manner, looking like a kicked puppy.
the teacher wasnât having it however, looking at the way her brow twitched as she shook her head. âiâm not scolding you - but i do want you to really think about it. what do you hope to achieve as an actor trainee? just to âdebutâ in a small-scale project, become a side character that is confined to few limited roles, or something more?â
âtalk to your peers if it helps. just think about it, junghyuk - what kind of actor do you want to become?â
josh eased up, ultimately nodding without saying anything. sheâs right, and he had to think about it. he started this path as a last measure because he didnât want to become an idol and modeling was out of the picture for his height. but...if he wanted to achieve something, he couldnât just think of spending time in lessons fooling around.
âiâll think about it. thank you, seongsangnim.â
Itâs going to take a long-ass ride for Jinseo to even be a proper singer, let alone, musical actor. This is why he takes note of every tip their instructor gives him. Sure, his brain knows what to do, but his voice wonât cooperate. Admittedly, heâs here more for the acting part than the singing one, so he might as well learn everything he possibly can. Hopefully, heâll eventually be able to at least post singing covers for his fans (bold of him to assume he even has any).Â
As he takes his place next to Josh, the idea of food appeals to Jinseo. âPlease,â he whispers back. âWe might as well stress-eat after making fools of ourselves over here⌠and come back for more later.âÂ
Before he can say anything else, the teacher raises an eyebrow at their direction. Apparently, they now have to pick a song from known musicals out of a fishbowl. Jinseo gulps as he awaits his turn. He can only hope and pray that he gets a musical he knows. He admits, he hasnât had the chance to see a lot of them, especially the original Korean productions. Jinseo picks one and he isnât quite sure what to feel when the words âDefying Gravityâ peek out at him. âIâm dead, man.âÂ
honestly, jinseo had a point. chuckling slightly, joshâs already making a mental note of which spot heâd like to go right after. perhaps a new spot heâs just saw a review of, or back to some good olâ snack hut that they hang out often as trainees?
it was a sharp glare that had josh straightening up, focus coming to the present. opps...seems like they are making more noise than expected huh? sadly, itâs nothing melodic enough. rubbing his hands when itâs his turn for the fishbowl, he cast a quick glance at jinseo, his silent way of saying âr.i.p to usâ, and then dive in.
just as he heard jinseoâs voice of defeat, his eyes rolled over the words âthe winner takes it allâ. â...â josh parted his lips, then clamped them shut, showing his strip of paper to the model all the while wincing at his pick. he supposed his choice was already lesser of two evils, but can their instructor accept a croaking high note was another story. â...i think some soju is in order to get over todayâs trauma.â
another year, another party. after last yearâs glittery mess - in which josh has vowed never to play with glitters again because of how he spent another three months just clearing his bag of that sparkly flakes that just wouldnât go away - this yearâs outfit was a lot...nicer. still enough dramatic flair since it was technically a cosplay of a game character, with a wig which was rather itchy from time to time but nothing too much for him.
the best part? thereâs two large pockets in the shorts, and he could safely bag his cards and phone without worries, unlike having to have this little chain bag last year.
he also got a sword - now thatâs cool. josh couldnât even remember the last time he dressed up so well in a halloween party in the states. it was definitely way before his days at nyu, because no matter how crazy parties can get there, the guys rarely dress up so elaborately. heâs tossed a bed sheet and acted as a ghost while someone else went as statue of liberty, but thatâs a low-budget version.Â
here at the party, everyoneâs outfits were smashing. happily retreating to a corner after grabbing a drink, he was looking for companions when his eye caught sight of someone in purple-black dress. he blinked, recognizing the outfit from the days he was researching for bennett, the character heâs supposed to be, and felt his lips parted in surprise when he noticed who was wearing it. after all, this fischl character was commonly paired with bennett, making for a ship themselves by the fandom.
a flash of heat ran up his cheeks, partly covered by the larger-than-usual bandaid on one side as they ran out of these items in the dorm, all the way down his neck. he straightened himself, thinking if he should head over and greet her as per usual, but then slumped over and decided that maybe, no.
( kinda wished there was alcohol, so he could do it while not being 100% sober. )
he turned away from mia, slipping towards the buffet table.Â
maybe...later, when he got ride of his dumb-looking expressions.
âhello, this is moon joshua.â raising a peace sign with his fingers, he pushed his glasses further up as he stared into the camera. the dream team session this time round was relatively...less taxing on the body than he would have expected. running in a maze and trying not to get caught in laser was a challenge on his dexterity, but it was overall more fun than he thought.Â
lips quirking up in a smile, he nodded as the staff asked some questions to guide him along for the comments. in his experience, josh allowed himself to speak as much as he could, so that they could decide to use his words or not. in the last tv episodes he went, there werenât that many snippets of him, especially with how many people are on the show.Â
he doesnât mind much, actually. he still got the paycheck, still enjoyed the show, and whatever screentime he had from there was a bonus.
( perhaps, he doesnât understand the concept of screen time even now. )
âah, i thought this was really fun! really,â he chuckled, scratching the sides of his temples as he shifted in his seat, âthe time in jail was...woah that was really hard to bear with, but the mazes were great.â he thought about the few members he met on his path, grinning as he nodded his head and crossed his arms comfortably. âwell it wasnât that bad when thereâs someone else suffering with you in jail,â josh laughed, âbut i actually loved the mazes. the mirror maze was scary when people started chasing you.â a short pause, âactually pd-nim, would you consider cutting the part where i crashed into the mirrors out? no?â
his fingers were making a scissor motion, like a crab claw, as he let out an embarrassed smile. he still remembered when he was caught after falling flat on the ground with a yelp, hands raised to cover his face at the absolute embarrassment while the staff ripped his nametag off.Â
âstill, i think being on dream team is always a fun experience because you get to meet other legacy members and work together to get over obstacles. thatâs like, the point of a âdream teamâ, you know?â
âah right, do we know who won yet? no? ahhhhh i guess weâd have to watch the episode when it airs-â he clasped his hands reciting the date and time of the expected broadcast, as if one was doing the ad. he could hear the camera man laughing, and josh just tossed a wink with finger guns. âsee you guys then!â
