yejin nods excitedly when eunhye says she will try out the flavor, she had it last summer and thought it was such an interesting thing, “ the color makes it look soft, it’s like a light green color, ” yejin nods happily at the thought it, she remembers how sweet the taste was and yejin couldn’t help but be excited about tasting it again, “ it is really sweet though, i think you’ll like it! ” yejin wasn’t like eunhye, she liked it safe, but she regrets not tasting more when she was younger. yejin was also aware, that she didn’t have that luxery.

“ if i were to create an ice cream flavor for fabula? ” yejin thinks about it, she wonders if it should suit their concept of their official colors, “ fabula has a cool kind of concept, so i was thinking maybe a forest berry taste? maybe? but with a hint of something light so that it matches our official colors, so maybe a cherry taste as well? ” yejin ponders for a moment, “ or maybe rasperry? with forestberry? ” yejin let her imagination run free right now, it as a fun thing, “ maybe we can find a place somewhere that let’s us, make our own flavors sometime unnie? ”

eunhye looked at yejin in awe as she described the ice cream flavor to her. she knows that if she were to answer her own question, she would be left suggesting whatever flavors would remind her of fabula and hope that the combination would taste and look good (and it’s probably a good thing that eunhye hadn’t spent too much time baking lately despite being a proficient cook). after visualizing the ice cream concoction that yejin mentioned, eunhye’s attention shifted back to her as she heard the question. “i can ask eunsook unnie if she’ll let us or try to find a place that does that…or maybe…” an idea had popped in her mind as she wondered if it could work out. eunhye was aware as to how popular fabula was, so perhaps with a bit of networking and persuasion, she could make it happen.

“…if we can’t find a place that does it, we can possibly ask her if there is an ice cream brand that is interested in having us as models?” eunhye suggested in a softer tone, hoping that the concept of manifestation would really work out for them. “but for now, i can ask our manager if we can get some ice cream. i don’t think she’ll mind as much since it is my birthday…” she really hoped that was the case, but eunhye was ready as ever to use her last resort if things didn’t work out (which so happened to be various kinds of aegyo that she’s practiced over the years).

yejin looks at eunhye as the older starts coming with suggestions, and she smiles. nodding her head slowly, it would be incredibly fun if they found a place that would do that or even better if they could... be models for a company that would let them promote the fabula flavored icecream, " i think that it sounds awesome. we could also just buy an icecream machine for our dorm and experiment there, dont you think unnie? "

but yejin was certain because it was eunhye's birthday, eunsook wouldn't mind them going around to explore for this stuff. yejin liked the idea of them modelling for an ice cream brand, " what kind of flavor do you think would suit fabula unnie? or maybe crystallis since we are talking about it? " the main vocal was curious as to what the other groups flavors would be, she hums softly to herself as she tries to imagine one for agito or even versus.

EUNHYE:

“i’ll make sure it’ll be worth the wait!” eunhye smiled brightly, confident that she would get a chance to reveal the birthday surprise she has in mind for yejin. “pistachio?” eunhye repeated the word out loud, more so because she questioned if she ever tried a pistachio flavored ice cream before. but now after hearing yejin’s words, eunhye is even more tempted to try it. “mhmm, it can be a bit exciting. i know there’s some people who are really good at tasting the slight differences with the same flavor of ice cream, which is something i wished i had.” she laughed, her smile still apparent since the start of the birthday celebration.

“umm…” eunhye tilted her head as she tapped her chin with her index finger. she never really thought in-depth what kind of flavors the ice cream had despite trying it several times. “if i remembered it correctly, they have multiple flavors to reflect all of the colors you see on it…” she trailed off, counting in her head how many colors she remembered seeing. “green…orange…pink… so maybe lime, orange, and raspberry?” she guessed out loud, hoping that there was a way to confirm whether she was right. but rather than asking about it, eunhye admitted out loud to yejin, “when i was younger, i really wanted to try as many flavors i could without having to spend so much to buy several scoops. i thought i was being smart in that if i got one ice cream scoop that had multiple flavors, such as a rainbow sherbet, i was being smart with my money.”

thinking about it a bit longer, she posed a question for yejin, “speaking of ice cream, if you were to create an ice cream flavor that would best describe fabula, what would it be?”

HAYOUNG:

hayoung opens her mouth to confidently answer but she ends up just crossing her arms and making a ‘x’ sign before saying, “no comment.” it’s more another attempt to be funny than being actually shy or naive. she knew exactly what it probably was about but also thought with those actors, it wasn’t going to be anything too shocking.

a small laugh escapes the younger as yejin sings and she proceeds to smile, seeing her friend having at least some fun with it. “the original sounds good! it’s the one with jun jihyun, right?” she happened to be one of hayoung’s favorite actresses but for some reason she never watched this, just ‘the thieves’ and her dramas, ‘kingdom’ being one of her favorites.

holding the turtle chips, hayoung returns to the couch and finds her phone to order the ice cream for them so they can start their movie night. “unnie, what flavor do you want today?“ she asks, already picking the cookies & cream one for her. “that was a good idea. it’s so hot today…” she whines, sighing.

yejin cannot help but laugh at what hayoung says, it was an old movie yes but such a classic and yejin had wanted to watch it so she figured she might as well take hayoung with her on the road, “ i want to feel like a hopeless romantic, just for a little while. ” yejin says with a soft smile, even if the movie gives unrealistic expectations and the things that happen are, out dated and would be frowned upon today.

“ yes, the orginal has jun jihyun, ” yejin nods excitedly, “ she is so beautiful now but she as truly something when she was younger, i want to learn from her. if i ever can, i want to be able to have impact similar to hers... it won’t happen but maybe one day, she’s one of my role models. ”

“ for tonight, ” yejin starts, pondering for a moment, “ i think i want strawberry flavored ice cream. how about it? ”

solo

with the comeback approaching, but more than that there is the family concert as well. yejin knew that things would be busy for her and fabula the next few months. there was pressure on her to do well, and at one point yejin did wonder if maybe she wouldn't be able to do anything about it. a part of her had been worried she would crumble under the pressure but, she was still here. trying her best, wanting to improve.

" i can do it, " she says to server as she enters the practice room, wanting to rehearse the comeback song's dance more, it was a song where she needed to be confident, yejin needed to show confidence and after having spent time with eunhye and hayoung, she had gotten more confident.

it was a slow progress.

but yejin was finding her confidence and that makes her feel good.

ever since her and nathan ended their relationship, she had felt a little lost because she had liked him for so long and now. he was just gone, but she was thankful to her friends and members, they had been a vital supportive system for her. it was amazing to her how kind everyone were, she had even managed to reconnect with her sister.

which was even more surprising to her.

maybe there was hope for her family life after all, even though they were living different lives.

“ what do you plan on getting? ”

hearing yejin’s response causes eunhye to nod her head, immediately thinking about how she could surprise yejin next time with some sort of strawberry dessert or drink. while she wasn’t the best at baking, she did have some experience with it thanks to past variety shows. “hmm… now you gave me an idea for what i could do for your birthday next year.” eunhye responded lightheartedly, even though eunhye had the tendency to remember these small details. even before debuting in fabula, eunhye liked remembering random information about other people because it was her way of showing how much she cared about the other.

“but i do hope that they have an ice cream flavor that has strawberry in there! i feel like they would…” eunhye trailed off as she tilted her head. she pondered for a brief moment over what flavors would have strawberry in it but was distracted when she heard yejin’s question. “usually if it’s my first time trying out an ice cream shop i usually take the safe option and pick chocolate…” she felt a bit embarrassed over her explanation, but she was confident that her actual favorite ice cream flavor was a bit uncommon. “if it’s from a particular ice cream place,” eunhye did her best to be vague and not explicitly mention baskin robbins before she continued on. “it’s a rainbow sherbet! i tend to like sherbets due to the flavor.”

yejin’s eyes widen as her own birth is mentioned, gosh, it was still so long until her own birthday and she hadn’t even thought about it. it was thanks to her friends in legacy that she had started enjoying her own birthday gradually more and more, and now she actually doesn’t mind ti anymore. it holds warm memories for her, “ i’ll be looking forward to it unnie, ” she smiles happily at the older, which makes her think she should put eunhye’s present on her bed later when eunhye was out and busy.

thinking about the different ice creams that could be there has her smiling, ice cream was one of her favorite desserts, especially in the summer, “ surely, if not maybe they have pistachio, i like that as well. ” yejin nods slowly as she listens to eunhye talk, “ different ice cream shops have their own way of making ice cream, so something as safe as chocolate might have different tastes as well i think, like strawberries. even if it is a safe choice, ti can be a bit exciting as well no? “ upon mentioning the rainbow sherbet, yejin’s eyes widens, “ what kind of flavors do they have in that? can’t be just one flavor right? ”

MINJI:

minji had bounced around the venue all day, excited to be performing at the waterbomb festival. she’d seen video of other idols performing here in the past, and now getting to be on the stage was a whole new experience. she watched as her label mates and others performed, waiting for fabula’s set to begin.

“i’m really excited,” she replied, jumping up and down. she wanted to do her best on the stage, and part of that was really getting energized. “you’ll do great, unnie,” she finally said. as the main dancer, she was aware that yejin had ways she could improve in her dancing. but improvement could happen anytime. now, she wanted yejin to be confident. “i don’t think we’ll be expected to dance as hard as we usually do, since we’ll have to go up to play with the water guns and the stage will be so slippery.”

she thought hard about what she was excited for. “i really want to see the pictures and videos the fans take after!” she said. “they always seem to turn out really good. i think since it’s outdoors, the lighting is always just right.”

yejin found this side of minji adorable, her jumping around excited about all of this like a child, even though none of them were kids anymore, it is sweet to see her innocence still intact. yejin was also very excited about it, she wasn’t jumping around like minji was but she was still excited to see haru perform upclose like this at a festival like this, and versus as well.

she turns to look at minji as she hears the comforting words from the younger, lips pursed as she feels more relieved now than she did earlier. surely they didn’t expect them to dance and perform as they would do normally, “ surely what is important here is that we have fun with the crowd right? ” she glances over at minji, but yejin hoped that with their next comeback maybe yejin’s effort in practicing her dancing would be shown, even though she would never be anywhere near minji and eunhye.

yejin turns to minji and smiles, “ honest i am excited about those as well, surely they will capure some many good moments, ” she nods a few times, “ i am also excited and curious to see if haru will perform my house and make it. ”

HAYOUNG:

hayoung doesn’t know if anything she said actually helped her friend, but it’s a relief to see her at least a bit excited to do something together. she is not naive to think something changed like this, yet she will take that smile as something positive today. as small as it was, it’s a good thing.

laughing softly at the other’s reaction, hayoung asks, “what’s wrong with that one?” hayoung teases yejin, bumping her shoulder onto hers lightly. to be honest, it just looked like a silly movie with a story she could guess the ending from the very start, but maybe it was cute and not the type of movie the title suggested, which makes her slightly curious. however, the second option is the one that makes her actually interested. “do they have that one?” she is surprised with the newly found information. “i didn’t know it was so old. i mean, i’m not old but…” she shrugs.

“that one sounds good! we can watch it if you like it,” she grins, getting up to grab something in the kitchen. “i’ll get snacks while we wait for the ice cream. which one do you want? turtle chips or honey butter chips?”

if there is one thing yejin has realized over the last few days since she got the news, and also from the last time when she tried to get over her feelings. it was that if she tried too hard, she wouldn't get anywhere, maybe if she just tried going about her days normally it would be easier for her, this time. though the difference now was that they had actually dated, didn't break up because they didn't like each other... it was rough.

yejin laughs at hayoung's comment about the movie, " what type of movie do you think it is though? " she asks the younger, they were both in their twenties now, what was there really to be shy about? everything.

when hayoung calls my sassy girl old, yejin chuckles and grins over at her, " you are in your early twenties now you know~, " she sings, " i know they remade it or something like that a few years ago? but i think the original should be better? i neve watched it myself but i know some people swear by it and it's supposed to be a cute movie. " yejin nods and gestures over to the turtle chips with a smile.

HAYOUNG:

would any of their future title tracks top ‘antifragile’ for her?

this was a question that briefly crossed hayoung’s mind once. briefly because she’s not the type to worry about the future, but she loved their latest song so much that it felt a little unreal to think they could release anything as catchy and fun. so when she hears the demo of their next comeback, she’s caught off guard.

“honestly? i love it!” she beams readily as the answer was on the tip of her tongue. it was the perfect mix of sounds and messages hayoung personally liked and she couldn’t hide her excitement. it wasn’t a concept easy to pull off, true, but it was fabula’s concept and if someone could do it, she’d like to believe it was them.

she catches a glimpse of yejin’s reflection in the mirror and offers a gentle grin. “is it hard?” the rapper circles her own face with her index finger, meaning to ask about the facial expressions. “you could try with the music on. just feel it without thinking too much,” hayoung advices.

one would think that after one and a half year since their debut that yejin would be more comfortable with the concept of her group, and yes she had gotten more comfrotable with it but just when she had settled in it seemed like they went another mile. yejin awaits hayoung’s response, before smiling softly at the younger. yejin didn’t dislike it either, but antifragile would still be one of her favorite title tracks of theirs, tomboy, might get a close second.

yejin couldn’t help but find hayoung adorable as she gushes over the song.

with a quick turn of her heel she looks at hayoung, “ somehow, it is easier to make the confident expressions while i am dancing. not that i am an amazing dancer, it’s just easier. standing still looking in the mirror like this, feels very out of place, what am i supposed to do? act though? chic? ” she chuckles at the different ideas in her own head, “ sosmehow, with the song i feel like though and chic are the expressions i should go for, but yes - let’s try with the music. ”

ever since eunhye joined legacy, birthdays were the one time when she realizes that the attention is on her. as someone who had gotten so used to thinking about others and doing what made others happy, eunhye usually felt a hint of shock whenever it was the other way around. after experiencing the birthday surprise, eunhye couldn’t help but smile the whole time. she had thought in the past about something like this — letting the fabula members be the dj instead of her, since she knew how they were personality wise. so to see that the radio show staff had fulfilled this small wish for her made eunhye feel elated (along with her wanting to do her best to be a ‘good’ guest to them).

“thank you, yejin-ah,” eunhye responded, dropping momentarily the stage name that the fans knew yejin by for the sake of expressing how touched she was by everything that was going on. what she heard next causes eunhye to chuckle in amusement. with a nod, she agreed to the idea and added, “sure, let’s get some of that after…although i think i might have a way to get her to say yes.” eunhye didn’t like to use her persuasion skills on their manager, but she hoped that maybe on her birthday, she could make the exception. glancing around to see where their manager was, eunhye realized she had to wait a little bit longer, which caused her to look back at yejin. “what are you planning on getting? i haven’t had ice cream in ages. do you think they have some new ice cream flavors?”

there was something extremely fulfulling seeing eunhye’s response to the girls being there, yejin felt lucky to mean something to the leader at moments like this. it was only ever after she joined legacy that she had slowly but surely stopped ignoring her own birthday, this year had been the first she had been excited about it and now she gets to be excited about her members birthdays with them as well.

yejin hums happily at eunhye’s response, normally in public they used stagenames but it felt more personal when they called her yejin instead of jin, even if she was used to the stagename by now. it had almost been two years since their debut and it sometimes feels pretty surreal. to think being an idol was still as exciting as it was day one, only thing that had changed now was her own comfort level in it, “ what i am planning on getting? ” yejin pondered for a moment, even though it was only one solution, “ i think i would have something with strawberries in them - strawberry is my favorite after all but if they have something that looks interesting, maybe i’ll try that. ”

“ what do you plan on getting? ”

yejin was incredibly excited about getting to perform at the waterbomb festival, together with their senior artist and labelmates, haru and versus. yejin remembers watching fancams and reading articles about the festival, it always seemed so much fun with water guns, swimming pool and dance performances. yejin only hoped that she was ready for it, because she remembers a few viral fancams and they were sexy.

the vocalist hurries over to minji's side, nudging her shoulder as she watches the stage, " how are you feeling? " she hums and glances over at minji, " i am excited, a little nervous..." yejin just didn't want to make a fool out of herself, imagine if she slipped and fell on stage? or if there were articles about her lacking next to the other members... yejin was a little tired of seeing her name getting associated with the words mediocre dancer, yejin wanted to prove to everyone and herself that she could indeed if the wanted to.

" what are you most excited for? i can't wait for the waterguns up front. "

yejin felt excitment building as she sat across form eunhye, in a seat the older usually sat in when she was working as a dj. today the girls were there to surprise eunhye, it was their leader's birthday and they had all prepared a little birthday speech for the girl and yejin was first.

" eunhye unnie, " yejin starts and looks at eunhye, " first. happy birthday eunhye unnie, our leader. thank you for always being there for all of us, especially thanks from me. when i have struggled with our dances you've always offered a helping hand. i hope that we get to celebrate many of our birthdays together, i hope this next year will bring nothing but success your way. "

after her little speech was finished she rubbed the palms of her hands together and pretended to light up fireworks for the older, smiling at the older, " let's get some ice cream after when... you know who isn't looking. "

HAYOUNG:

she moves to the couch where yejin is and gently wraps her arms around the older girl. “you don’t need to force yourself to stop liking him. it will go away when it’s time or… well, i guess feelings change over time.” not to extreme opposites or anything, but friendships end, people get unexpectedly closer and it’s hard to predict the future. “it’s not like you can erase him, but it will get better.”

it would be cool to have all the answers and find a magical way to make her friend’s heartache disappear faster, but since it’s not an actual thing that some hard work would give her the power, hayoung works with what she has in her hands to make it at least bearable for the other.

flashing a smile at her friend, she nods. “good idea! we can watch something fun and enjoy some icecream. you pick… the ice cream flavor and the movie,” hayoung says because she knows her taste could be a little peculiar and she’s not going to make yejin sit and watch one of her zombie tv shows again. “just say it and i’ll make it happen.”

hayoung’s arms feel comfortable right now, considering everything that yejin has is dealing with on an emotional level, feeling the support of one of her dearest friends means alot to the main vocalist, and she knows that the younger speaks the truth. yejin doesn’t have to force herself to stop liking him, that didn’t work the first time around and surely it won’t work the second time around either.

how does one even do that? she wonders to herself.

yejin smiles when hayoujng agrees to her suggestion because that means the two will spend more time together, now she had to think about what kind of movie she wanted to watch. yejin turns on their tv and opens youtube to look for trailers to watch, aimlessly clicking on the first one she sees - “ this trailer is called love and... leashes? ” yejin tilts her head in confusion, ciicking on it because it has one of their senior idols in the thumbnail and as she watches it. yejin blushes heavily, “ not... that one. ” yejin clicks out of it and sees a title of a movie she’s not seen in a long time, “ how about we watch this one? my sassy girl? it came out the year you were born hayoungie! ”

yejin still felt a little dumbstruck after the announcement of fabula’s next comeback, because the songs - especially the title song, seemed extremely edgy. there was actual swearing in the song, and while looking at the dance for the song yejin truly felt like she had her work cut out for her. who had time to be heartbroken when she had to look like a though cookie on stage? yejin glances over at hayoung next to her, lips a little pursed.

“ hayoungie! ” she whines softly, how was she supposed to manage tough expressions for their comeback once again, yejin was after all a softie at heart, so when she had to act though, it was truly for all of fabula’s stages and performances, “ how do you feel about the title this time? ”

it wasn’t even that yejin disliked it, no she liked the song and the other b-tracks as well, it was just yejin that knew she needed to work hard this time as well, she breathes heavily and looks into the mirror. she couldn’t just make a facial expression, it was easier to act out things as she was performing and singing on stage, that was one thing she had learned.
