Fantastical Creatures Adorned with Ornate Sculptural Details
Ukrainian artists Anya Stasenko and Slava Leontyev craft fantastical porcelain creatures with vividly-decorated surface designs. The charming figures are small in stature - ranging from one and a half inches to about 15 inches - and are adorned with ornate sculptural details as well as intricately-painted stories and patterns. Fish, owls, rabbits, and hybrid critters make an appearance in the duo’s impressive repertoire.
Early On, Comedian John Cleese Says He Had Good Timing, But Little Else
John Cleese on learning how to do physical comedy:
"I think I learned it by imitation because I was no good at physical comedy. I was a terrible dancer; I dance like an Englishman and although I had good hand-eye coordination, I was so tall and skinny and muscularly weak that I just was not well coordinated. What I started to do quite early on was watch some of the great old silent comedians like Laurel & Hardy and [Charlie] Chaplin and then later on Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton, and the first thing you notice about these people is how extraordinarily physically skillful they were.
I began to just learn a few little things about how to look as though I had tripped or I was good at balancing things, I could take an umbrella and I could balance it on my chin or on my foot. I just got interested in that kind of thing and as I played games more and more and got stronger physically, I just became more coordinated, but by watching the great old comedians I picked up a few tricks about how to do physical comedy and whenever I could learn something I added it to my repertoire. It was not something I was naturally gifted at, it actually was sort of work but it was fun work.”

Lightpaper by Rohinni: Thin & Printable
Rohinni has developed a way to print paper-thin lighting in any shape and for any situation. Snip from FastCoLabs:
In its current state, Lightpaper is manufactured by mixing ink and tiny LEDs together and printing them out on a conductive layer. That object is then sandwiched between two other layers and sealed. The tiny diodes are about the size of a red blood cell, and randomly dispersed on the material. When current runs through the diodes, they light up.
The promise of thin lighting has been simmering for a while, thanks largely to breakthroughs in OLED technology. But nothing viable has come to market, and Lightpaper is much thinner than OLED—which has been able to get TVs down to a fraction of an inch thick—and is lower cost and has a life-span of around 20 years, like LEDs.

Mechanical Wolf by Andrew Chase
I believe the House of Usher would want a shipment of these!
For some weird reason I feel like I need a mechanical wolf protector.

The great Ursula K. Le Guin, who was just awarded the National Book Foundation’s 2014 Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, on writing and the secret of success in any craft – spectacular read.
Le Guin adds a necessary caveat to the excerpt highlighted above:
I beg you please to attend carefully now to what I am not saying. I am not saying that you should think about your audience when you write. I am not saying that the writing writer should have in mind, “Who will read this? Who will buy it? Who am I aiming this at?” — as if it were a gun. No. … Once you start writing, it is fatal to think about anything but the writing. True work is done for the sake of doing it. What is to be done with it afterwards is another matter, another job.

here’s a video that resumes the actual situation in mexico.
in addition to that, later that night 11 students were arrested and accused of terrorism, organised crime and murder attempt without any proofs and without giving them right to have their own lawyers defending their cases. one of them is an student in my school and it makes me really sick that people just doesn’t notice we all are vulnerable to this kind of situations (and even more fucked up ones) all day everyday and everywhere in the world.
please share and excuse my terrible english. thank you!
