Downtown Wheeling, WV vaudeville jamboree. They have cyclists! An update about Wheeling and libraries - from Wikipedia: In 1904 it became the first city in the country to refuse a proposed Andrew Carnegie gift of a free library, because of the industrialist's labor record, especially the notorious Homestead Strike of 1892. #bicycletouring (at Wheeling, West Virginia)
Rest day in Pittsburgh: visited Beth's first cousin Robert, his wife Anna, and daughter Eleanor, age 8 (she was so excited to meet two librarians), visited two libraries, the Carnegie Library (the main library building), and the Hillman Library at the University of Pittsburgh where Beth's former colleague Dan K works, and we went to a Pirates' game (they lost). #bicycletouring (at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
Heading out in one week for our 13th Paul Gordy trip, the 1st leg of our trip across the country.
Latest Warmshower’s guest, Ryan (rnrider on instagram), cycling the Blue Ridge Parkway and headed to Europe for the summer
Warmshowers' guest Vincent from Montreal.
He left Montreal in Nov. 2014 to see if he liked bicycle touring. His destination was Toronto. He liked it. This is his route. Three years on the road and 26,000 miles.
Warmshowers guest, Kathleen and Isobel, biking from Asheville to Maine. Loving the Parkway.
Our next trip is less than a  month away.Â
This is so cool. Trans Am Race winner Evan Deutsch at the finish with Dot Watchers.
Update on Trans Am bike Race, day 11.
We took our annual weekend ride to the Virginia Creeper Trail from our home in Boone. Much of the riding is over the backroads of Watauga and Ashe Counties. Great camping sites along the Creeper Trail, which shares a few miles with the Appalachian Trail, and the scenery is great. A bit sore on Monday, the route includes over 11,000 feet of climbing,
Bicycle Touring Trip of the Week: Cycling Around the World
Inspired to Ride from Mike Dion on Vimeo. The Trans Am Bike Race 2017 starts this Saturday, June 3.
Bicycle Touring Trip of the Week: Transam East to West 2017 I just can’t resist the perspective of non-Americans on the U.S. Favorite quote (but not surprising): “ Having only been to America once before I just can’t get over how massive EVERYTHING is here!”
Warmshowers guest Jon from San Sebastion, Spain, riding from Atlanta to NYC. Definetly had the biggest bag of any tourer. Only had a short visit with him (we were leaving on our own tour), but a very friendly and happy guy.
Just completed the Richmond to Savannah trip with Paul G. and the boys. We joined them in Eastern NC on day five. You can see the trip details on Paul’s website.Â
