this is meant to be a welcoming, inclusive, and kind space. i'm not going to get explicitly political here, but i want to make it clear my tastes in fiction don't reflect my irl views. my convictions are inclusive, humanist, and pacifist, and i don't want to engage with rightist "glorious past" medievalism. everyone has a place in fantasy, regardless of race, origin, belief, gender, queer identity, disability, etc. i don't have a specific dni, but if you are rude or bigoted i will block you.
not all posts will contain traditional fantasy elements, but they are all fantastical in nature, whether of the wish fulfillment, magical, or sexy variety.
my interests lean towards fealty, devotion, and exaltation, especially those at the higher end of that relationship. expect emperors, queens, princes, duchesses; as objects of adoration, as icons, role models, idols; as ornamentation. dehumanization comes as part of that, more often than not.
i like scenarios where rulers who disregard the interests of their courtiers, break social rules, or fail to placate the populace face consequences. the court isn't just gold and silks. a mistake at the wrong moment can be deadly. a figurehead can be torn down, greatness made nothing, the law of a ruler's word mere wind in the face of muscle, steel, fire.
hurt goes hand in hand with comfort. the power imbalance is insurmountable, but there is love, if perhaps not in the typical sense.
