This was the last thing that Linda had been expecting. In fact she had plans for her day. She was going to see Eric, and see if she could see her grandchildren and of course check in on him. Naturally she was worried about her son. Being kidnapped twice, almost dying twice all because of that Imogen Ford. That girl always left a bad taste in Lindaâs mouth, and she did her best to control herself but she couldnât help it. Eric deserved better. But instead she got a call from the hospital. Her heart almost stopped, thinking that it was Eric again or Molly. Instead it had been Arthur and she felt like she couldnât breath.
Despite her husband and her not always seeing eye to eye, she loved him. Regardless of people thinking that she married him for his money and status. She loved him. He was her rock, and without him she would be truly lost. Naturally she had their driver rush her to the hospital because she didnât feel like she could drive. She had text Molly and Eric. They were coming. Sitting there in the waiting room, she couldnât stand the month old magazines, so she just sat there, waiting. Hearing her name, she stood up. âYes, how is my husband? Our children should be here soon.â
Eric had been on his way out, when he got the text from Molly. He sent a text to Imogen, to let her know what was going on. Let her know that he probably wouldnât be home until late and that he would keep her updated. He picked up Molly on the way to the hospital. âSo Heath Clarkman huh?â He glanced over at her before back to the road. âI know now isnât the time. But Heath? You know what mum is going to say when she finds out. If she finds out.â It would be nice if she laid off Imogen, and focused on Molly and her relationship. âSo what is it? An actual relationship or just messing around?â He wanted to protect his sister also.
Once he got to the hospital, he pulled up and parked his car. Heading inside with her, he moved into the waiting room. Seeing their mother with some doctor, he moved over to them. âMum, what happened? Any news yet?â He glanced at the doctor for a moment. âEric Matthews.â He told the other man. âWhat happened to our dad?â // @thexsecretxmusesx¡
Molly made a face at her brother as she got in the car. âThatâs why I said not to tell her.â She shrugged, pulling her seatbelt over her and looking out the window. She tried to tell herself not to worry too much but she couldnât help it. Was their dad okay? She shrugged at Eric. âI havenât put a label on itâŚâ In case Heath didnât want to, mostly. âBut I do like him. Heâs not what people think.â She shrugged, not that anything would matter to their mother. She got out of the car and hurried with him into the hospital, seeing their mother as she moved over, just standing with her arms crossed as she waited for answers.
The worst part of a doctorâs day was often having to meet and greet with the family. Giving bad news was always the worst thing and the familyâs reaction was the first thing that crossed oneâs mind when finishing a surgery. Luckily this wasnât necessarily going to be a bad talk type of situation, but it wasnât perfect. There was still a lot of things he had to explain and he hated that. He smiled toward Linda as she had moved to stand. âOf course. I can tell you everything and if you want, I will tell them when they arrived if you wouldâŚâ He didnât even have the opportunity to finish offering to explain to them too before the two were approaching. Eric announced who he was and he nodded, âMr. Matthews, Miss Matthews⌠I am Doctor Lewis. Mister Matthewsâ condition is currently stabilized but we still have a rather long road ahead.â He held out his hand to the chair that Linda had just abandoned. âPlease, sitâŚâ He encouraged the three of them before taking a seat across from them.
âMister Matthews had a severe heart attack. From what we can tell right now, it was due to a leak in one of his heart valves. We went in and patched that leak, but the next two days will be very important to watch over his condition. We will need to run a few tests to see if we can pinpoint what the cause of the leak was along with seeing what damage that heart attack has left behind. He has been awake and I can already tell that he is not going to enjoy this time of rest which means I donât even need to ask if there is any form of stress or overexertion that you think might have helped this along.â
