The Second place that we went after the zoo is the Chester Cathedral. It’s my first time in a Cathedral. I know that you are going to ask me what’s the differences between a church and a Cathedral. AHA! From what I learnt today, Church is pretty much smaller than a Cathedral. Church is usually run by priests; Whereas Cathedral is run by bishops. You could say that Cathedral is the one with the highest ranking, and churches act like sub-branches.
Despite of not believing in God, I still find the Cathedral fascinating. It is not the kind of ordinary place-to-visit type of excitement that I have for it. It’s on a higher level of appreciation, and respects. Gotta say this again, despite of not being a Christian, I must say, the trip to the Cathedral is an eyes-opening experience. I think the history, small stories behind, makes the Cathedral an even more special place. The wall art, the glass art, the words, and the environment. The Cathedral is indeed, a beautiful form of arts.
Outside of the Cathedral is an open area, like a park-site. You could take a chill by sleeping on the grass, have picnics with friends, spend your day there with a book to read, or just by sitting on the bench, daydreaming. You could also go in to the Cathedral, as the entrance is free, but of course, you are always welcome to donate or contribute something to the Cathedral. It’s always up to you. Well, some of the art exhibitions ask for dozens, so, donating a pound or two to the Cathedral wouldn’t be a pain in the ass right?
Isn’t this beautiful? It’s almost a love at first sight to me! A piece of artwork that survives for at least 5 centuries, yet still looking great. It’s a lot of work, you know? The time and effort people has put in to preserve this jewel, it’s unimaginable. Every corner you see, every brick on the wall you touch, feels different.
A REALLY BEAUTIFUL, AND WORTH-VISITING PLACE.
I’m in love with this statue that was found at a small back garden within the Cathedral. It was right at the centre of the Garden, and thanks to the Summer, flowers are blooming everywhere, and greens are growing strong, smelling great too. It is not a bad idea at all to sit on the bench near this statue, while listening to the hymns. The statue reminds me of the horoscopes, Pisces and Gemini. I can’t tell if they are mermaids, human, or humanized fishes...? Anyway, the only thing you have to know is that they look great, END OF STORY.
Lighted candles with blessings and best wishes, especially to those innocents who left this world so unprepared during the Manchester terrorism attack, few days back. I don’t know the actual meanings behind the white candles, but... I hope people light the candles for good causes, and good reasons, not just to follow ’trends’ of others. The donation box is there for a reason, and it is totally fine if you don’t feel like donating a penny or two, but to simply light the candles without any thought is just... A waste of thing and time. Things happen for a reason, so as your actions. Make every action counts. Start asking yourself why do you do this and that, not just giving yourself a reason like, “I don’t know, just because I want to, so I did it”. It might not seem like I care, but, I do care. You could say that I put too much attention on such small stuff, and it’s funny to make a fuss over things like that.
Perhaps, that's the difference between us.
I care a lot when it comes to emotional supports, and managing emotions. Emotions, are not only about individuals, it is most of the time affecting the people around too. In recent time, I try to not only provide emotional supports to those whom I know, but also trying hard to communicate emotional supports with other people that I don’t know, or meet for the first time.
First of all, your senses are important. Be thoughtful, be open, be positive enough to support yourself, before you could support the others. Observe, and be considerate. Give as much as you can, and don’t force people to give back. After all, it’s emotional supports, it can’t be priced. But the good thing about emotional support is that, you gain trust and relationship.
Being able to read and understand people’s sorrows, would make you a better person, at least that is what I have been believing in. And respects. It’s hard to put a value on respects, it’s even harder to grade respects. It depends on how much you want to do it, and how willing you are to give. For example, though I’m not a Christian, I still enter the Cathedral with respects, and the heart to learn. You can, not to believe in God, but you can’t deny its cultural and religious existence. Moreover, some of the quotes and teachings from the Bibles, are very useful.
Learn to accept the differences, and respect the differences. Before I went into the Cathedral, I am a free-thinker who do not believe in God; After visiting the Cathedral, I am still a free-thinker who do not believe in God, but with more respects for the history, and form of arts of the Christian.
You would be surprised by how much you could still learn, with an open heart. Sometimes learning does not really need to be academical learning, with the books beside. To improve on your emotion controls, and raise your ‘openness’ to a new level, is a form of learning too.
In my point of view, “Everyone is a sinner. Yet, as soon as you start to provide supports for another sinner, you might be less restricted than you are before”.
