🌟 Have you ever experienced Lunar New Year?⁠ ⁠ We celebrated yesterday with the whole family. Celebrating for us means: eating way too much food. More importantly, it means spending time together as a family. Once you're married, you're supposed to give out (instead of receiving) red envelopes with money for good fortune. 🌟 How do you take pictures at crowded places?⁠ ⁠ Obviously, this is more a question for the real content creators here, but I don't think anyone likes crowds on their pics, so all tips are welcome.⁠ ⁠ - Most of the time we're early enough⁠ - Or we find different angles and spots⁠ - Sometimes I remove human beings from our shots⁠ - Sometimes I don't even bother⁠ - Sometimes we wait till the crowds (usually tours) to clear⁠ - Sometimes I refuse to wait anymore and leave⁠ ⁠ Magstraede in Copenhagen is a lovely and iconic street. Everyone wants to check it out and it's actually not that busy, unless you're timing is wrong and one tour after another pops up. I didn't photoshop people out of this shot, but it took quite some time to wait for the place to be empty. Then this guy shows up, asking if he could take a quick pic. 🌟 If you could pick any destination right now, where would you want to go?⁠ ⁠ The past two weeks has been crazy busy and stressful, feeling old (denying the fact that it's my birthday end of the month, forever 26, people...), and then I realized I haven't post in a week. 🌟 Have you planned your 2020 trips yet?⁠ ⁠ We're pretty much fully planned until August. With Prague, Japan and a roadtrip through Europe, we will be ticking off quite some bucket list items.⁠ ⁠ If you haven't planned November/December yet, we highly recommend you to take Copenhagen into consideration. @Tivolicph is absolutely gorgeous then with their Christmas decorations and Christmas market up, and kids will love the rides. They have a small but fun aquarium, shows, enough good food too to keep you satisfied and busy all day. My kids even thought warming their hands was fun. Apparently, they're easier entertained than we imagined... 🌟 How do you identify yourself?⁠ ⁠ For me, it has always been rather confusing. My grandpa fled from China to Vietnam where he met my grandma, and then the whole family fled from Vietnam to Taiwan during the wars. After that, they all came to the Netherlands. I'm raised with all these influences: Chinese, Dutch, Vietnamese, Taiwanese.⁠ ⁠ People always have trouble guessing where I'm from. I always had trouble communicating, because the Cantonese we spoke at home wasn't like the Hong Kong Cantonese spoken by my friends. It was a mix of Cantonese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese and Vietnamese dialect. For a long time, I had no idea what language certain words were. The only time when all made sense, was when I traveled to Taiwan with my mom. During her high school reunion, which was a special school for Chinese refugees from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, I met all these people that talked like us, that exact mix!⁠ And that's only the Asian part, because I not only feel Asian, but also Dutch. ⁠ ⁠ I love being the mix that I am, Chinese/Vietnamese with Dutch and Taiwanese influences. I embrace it, but through the years I've learned it doesn't define me as a person. I'm a woman, a daughter, a wife, a mother and a dentist. 🌟 Our tips for a Seville (family) trip!⁠ ⁠ We're going to share some tips for Seville today, that you can do besides the usual. Fun for all, but focused on families. Save it for later if you want!⁠ ⁠ 1) Row, row, row the boat at Plaza de Espana. Open from 10am-9pm, the plaza is already busy by then though. Pretty sure all kids love this. Warning, you do need to row it yourself! The husband didn't see that one coming. ⁠ ⁠ 2) Hire a family bike (seats 4-6!) in Maria Luisa Park, next to Plaza de Espana, to explore the big park. Also requires some effort of mom and dad. ⁠ ⁠ 3) Have churros, or calientes as they're called in Seville. Dip it in coffee (not the kids) or thick chocolate.⁠ ⁠ 4) Enjoy a horse & carriage ride. Our carriage driver gave us a lot of interesting info and facts along the way.⁠ ⁠ 5) The kids can roam free in many places, including: the parks, Plaza de Espana, the gardens of Real Alcazar (where they have peacocks!), Metropol Parasol Las Setas.⁠ ⁠ Overal tip for tourist spots: if possible, book online for everything and arrive early, even if you have tickets. 🌟 What was your nr 1 sight from your last trip?⁠ ⁠ Been a bit absent here last week, because of the family gatherings during Christmas and our trip to Copenhagen. It may also have something to do with season 2 of "You" on Netflix. Priorities, priorities. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Whether amusement parks are your thing or not, @tivolicph is a sight that you can't miss in Copenhagen. It's not any amusement park, people! We usually don't visit amusement parks on our trips, unless it's a special trip dedicated to that park, but you can't skip the second oldest operating amusement park in the world! It opened in 1843! That's a historical, cultural and fun sight in one, In the middle of the city centre.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ I'm sure the park is fun all year round, but I think visiting it when their Christmas decorations are up makes it even better. There's a Christmas market, and it's absolutely gorgeous everywhere you look and you keep discovering pretty corners and alleys everywhere. I love the magical and nostalgic feel @tivolicph gives you. Even if you don't go in any rides, it's fun to wander around. You can see more in our Copenhagen highlight.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ You can easily spend the whole day here, we did. Copenhagen is cold around this time of the year, so dress accordingly. 🌟Tell us something about you!⁠ ⁠ It's our 100th post!⁠ Since it's been a while we've introduced ourselves, we thought it's a good time to do so now, with a picture from where we're based.⁠ ⁠ We're a mixed Asian family of 4, based in the Netherlands.⁠ ⁠ Adelyn (6): Extremely flexible athletic girl that loves rhytmic gymnastics (see stories). Very girly girl, loves everything unicorn, rainbow, mermaid, glitter and sparkles.⁠ ⁠ Jeremy: (5): Cheeky monkey that gets away with a lot. Very boyish boy, loves cars, animals, dinosaurs (he felt sad for them because they're extinct). "Cool" is his favourite word. ⁠ ⁠ Sunny: Civil engineer, born in the Netherlands, lived in Belgium most of his life, but back in the Netherlands since meeting Shirley. Easy going, loves to eat and sleep. Shoots most pictures if Shirley is in it too.⁠ ⁠ Shirley: Dentist, born and raised in the Netherlands. 🌟Would your kids climb these stairs?⁠ ⁠ Or maybe you've already been? Did they go all the way up?⁠ ⁠ It's a challenge, isn't it? Whether the kids will or will not do something?⁠ We visited the Batu Caves near Kuala Lumpur early to beat the crowds and especially the heat, hoping the kids wouldn't make a fuss of climbing the stairs. Guess what, they didn't, they climbed the stairs all the way to the top and didn't complain at all. 🌟Where have you ever seen anything rainbow colored?⁠ ⁠ My kids now love anything colorful, especially if it's in the colors of the rainbow. ⁠ ⁠ Our apartment was right across the building, so it was a 3 minutes walk to take a few pics. 🌟They say the youngest is the funniest one, what do you think?⁠ ⁠ Happy birthday to our little one, Jeremy!⁠ ⁠ He turned 5 (😭) today, so I'm breaking my own rule not to post on Fridays. We're leaving for Paris again on Sunday, with a different goal this time. It's a surprise trip for the kids to Disneyland Paris! Hoping for nice weather, because autumn in Europe this year...⁠ ⁠ In our little family, it's absolutely true, Jeremy is definitely the funniest one, even when he doesn't mean to be. He's really good with words and phrasing, often on point and witty, making him hilarious. ⁠ ⁠ While going through the photo's from our trips, I had to laugh out loud, because apparently, Jeremy has found himself a pose since our Asia trip this summer.
