So I have delayed in posting these photos because I was not sure how much or how little I should say about them. So in the interest of slaying the demon of procrastination, I will just say it as plainly as possible: I was hired into the company Fujitsu Ireland as a permanent employee almost twoband a half years ago in their graduate program. Most of the "graduates" have recently graduated from university. I obviously have not recently graduated. (Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts 1996!) But thanks to the clause "non-graduates are welcome to apply", I applied at a time when I was desperate for work, and than God I got in. So this September 13 was our graduation from the graduate program in London. We had a presentation at 22 Baker Street featuring "Best...' and "Most likely to...", speeches from alumni, and the standard fare. The evening was hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the Sky Garden, followed by dancing, and finally good nights and farewells. Most of these colleagues I probably won't see again. They come from all over Europe (though mostly the UK and Germany). Many of the graduates I met on the program did not attend the graduation, for one reason or another. It was very much a milestone, bittersweet, and after all a good time. (at Sky Garden) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4-V7ZBlZNv/?igshid=jyu1ckplhepv

The last module of the Graduate Program was recently held.
As per the usual given the option I did my module in Munich. The emphasis was very much on career coaching. I can say that it was the best of all the modules if only for the fact that it came last and built upon all the others.
Now all that is left is our graduation celebration!

Miniature Piles Farther Further Afield with Miniature Piles We had a prolonged power outage today, starting at ten minutes to 5 pm. The exercise involved lighting all the candles, donning all the headlamps, and being hyper aware of all of the electrical piles a.k.a. "batteries" in the house. The power finally came back on at nearly 9 pm. I almost purchased a power generator (big portable battery with all sorts of plugs) in the mean time, but intuition (and my beloved grandmother's advice) told me to wait until the light of day. Three waning tripple A piles were identified and swapped out for new ones. "Tripple A stat! Right and ready, sir!" No mad max on my watch. Now the grid power is back on and I am thinking to myself, "That was a good dry run for the Apocolypse." When you think of a joke... and it.makes you laugh for days... but you don't vet it with your family... and you go public with it... and their first reaction is... 😞 "Is it a political thing???" #IrishLanguage #IrishPolitics #badjoke https://www.instagram.com/p/BtjaZNKlxCZ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2jq6po9mevcm

So a couple of things. First of all, it is nice to have an official photographer. I have come to notice that the best photos of me are not taken by members of my own family, but by this particular co-worker, who is also a Fujitsu employee. A part of what makes his photos so good is that they are taken candidly, in the moment, a natural expression. Also he is a very good photographer. Secondly, I have come to learn that in Ireland, sweets are very important. Of course Americans basically invented the candy bar, and Canada perfected it. Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and more are famous for their chocolates. Europeans absolutely love sweets. As does India, Japan, China, basically everywhere. Still, in Ireland, sweets are somehow even more significant. Culturally significant. Emotionally significant. Psychologically significant. History is encoded in sweets. The sweets of childhood, whether each is still available or not, it is all a matter of very deep significance. So when your Irish co-worker hands you a sweet of which they are fond, it is a special moment, my friend.

People have been gazing up at moon for hundreds of thousands of years. There is literally nothing new to see there. And yet I cannot stop looking, lest I grow tired and want to sleep. And I cannot suppress the desire to photograph its pearly luminance. Thankfully I can do this with my pocket phone, and at more or less a moments notice. Good night moon. Thank you for keeping watch over us. (at Killarney) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqVdMlOF_V6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=3c88ploixwx0
