amaryllis' gardevoir, iris, did not have the highest kill count of her mons during their time in the war. that belonged to her sylveon, edelweiss. and its not close.

She wasn't kidding when she told him to cover his ears, huh? He regrets not doing it right away, actually.

Damien listens as she explains about the trees. Tilts his head a little.

"Is it that similar to tree climbing?" He wouldn't know. He'd never really climbed trees. He doesn't doubt he can do it, but still. Not much experience on that front.

"I was the one that kept you waiting."

It was nice of her to consider his time, though. Corviknight lets out metalic sounding chirp, before Damien gives him the signal to take to the air. "Hold on tight." A few flaps later, and they're already landing next to the gate to the Royale. Not a far travel, but it sure beat any other method of getting down. Damien slides off of the metal bird, and holds out a hand just in case she needs help getting down from the mount as well.

"Not a fan of the Royale?" It had been on his mind, even if it seems to come out of nowhere. Can't hurt to ask, right?

"In my experience it was! That's how I always climbed trees without any accessible foot or handholds. You have to get a little creative sometimes."

Amaryllis did hold on as instructed, the sensation of being lift into the air and the descent making her stomach feel as if it lift in her throat. In all actuality, it was her first time on the back of a pokémon that could fly like this, and her first impression was that such a sensation felt very fun.

She graciously takes his hand as she steps down, legs wobbling momentarily being back on solid ground now. Fortunately, the slight shake would cease as she acclimated.

"Hm? Oh—I have no strong opinions either way, actually... I do participate sometimes, when I have the time, but I'm a volunteer nurse in the city here. That's usually my priority when night falls since all the centers get a lot more busy once the Royale starts. I'm only X rank... It's a little embarrassing, actually—I could be a bit higher in placement if I put in the proper time to raise my rank." Truthfully, as well, she was still trying to get used to the more... friendly style of battling in this era. Not all fights were life or death like they used to be, with foes coming at her with the intent to kill.

"Ah, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to talk your ear off," she could sense Dahlia entering the city, so it wouldn't be much longer, "how about yourself? Do you enjoy participating?"

For a brief moment, Amaryllis would have considered the other woman to be under the influence, however she didn't smell any alcohol on her at all. The way the redhead moved and spoke were putting Amaryllis' instincts on alert, brows knitting together in concern the more she observed her movements and speech.

"Ma'am—are you alright?" She asks, trying to study the other woman's pupils for any irregularities. "Are you experiencing pain anywhere, such as the head?" Her fingers move over the buttons on the machine as she speaks, placing the rogue pokéballs in each slot before they had a chance to roll off the counter. As the equipment worked to heal the pokémon, she turns to the other fully now that she wasn't multitasking.

"I know it may be difficult to remember or recall, but can you tell me if you hit your head recently? Any recollection helps, even if it's a small detail."

     When she'd decided to take a trip back to Kalos, she hadn't really expected anything to come of it. Hadn't expected, either, to find someone within one of the spots she thought nobody would frequent. It had always been like a secret get away for her – not something she thought anyone else knew about. She takes a step back, wanting to turn before she's noticed. But then it seems that it's too late for that. “ I – didn't mean to interrupt you – I just – nobody's usually – here. ”

The heavy throngs of trees in the forest were plentiful, verdant boughs selective in which rays of sun they let reach the forested floor. The pokémon around her chattering away as they played together, dashing to and from thick lines of foliage, unseen, but able to be heard. Life was bountiful here; Amaryllis could feel it all around her. Her bare feet danced across the grass, wildflowers blooming in her wake, drinking in the life energy her touch left behind. It wasn't until she sensed someone approaching that her waltz would slow, before stopping all together. Truthfully, Amaryllis wasn't expecting anyone to be out here either, given how utterly remote and deep within nature it was. A soft smile rises on her features as pale blue hands move to clasp together at her waist, fingers lightly intertwined.

"Oh, not at all! To be honest, I wasn't expecting anyone to be out here either, but it's a welcome surprise. Is this a spot you come to frequently?" She shift on her heels slightly. "I don't mean to intrude—I can always leave if you prefer to have some peace for yourself."

"Physical touch and gift giving. Touch is a good way for me to let others know that I'm there, not just emotionally, but physically too. Gift giving is a little easier, since not everyone can be big on touch and I also wouldn't want to overstep anyone's boundaries too early, so I like to pick up small things for people I care about. It's another way to let them know that I'm here, and that I'm thinking of them in some way. There's a lot of times where I'll see something in a store, make something, or see a flower that makes me think of someone I care for that I feel like I need to share!"

"I'm grateful for my pokémon, first and foremost. Especially Azalea... It's been hard since I'm still grieving the loss of my... or, well she did belong to my mother first, but... Iris, my Gardevoir that accompanied me to the war. Azalea does remind me of her in a lot of ways, though I know she isn't the same as Iris and that's okay. I'm very grateful for her grace and patience with me. I'm also very thankful for the other immortals in my life. It's both horrifying and relieving to recognize people from my era, and I hope it's not crazy to say, but... I am very grateful to have them by my side. It's made this unfamiliar time a lot more comfortable and bearable, especially when everything is just so... overwhelming still. Adjusting to this time would have been much more difficult without them here, and I truly don't think there is anything I could ever do or give them to show how much I appreciate them. I just hope I'm able to provide them the same feeling of comfort and familiarity, too."

It really had been an innocuous day spent walking the streets of Lumiose together. Amaryllis was always more than happy, and grateful, to spend time with Valère, especially given how much she had missed out on while she slept. All it took was them rounding a corner, and she laid eyes on a Pyroar in their path. The lion wasn't a wild 'mon, standing at the side of their trainer, but Amaryllis felt the walls close in on her immediately, and the world around her felt like it fell away.

She was back in the forest. Running with a shred of hope that she could best the beast that was ordered to hunt her. To hunt her, like she was prey, after slaughtering all of her comrades at the camp. It happened again, a second time, all because of who she was. Close friends, allies, goodhearted people who didn't deserve to die in such a way. And it was all her fault, again.

Amaryllis felt the claws dig into her skin as it caught her, the gnashing fiery teeth, the screams—her own screams, so loud and agonizing that the forest itself had gone totally silent save for her own suffering. Perhaps it was what she deserved, for not learning her lesson the first time her allies were killed. It was her own hubris that lead to this.

As Val spoke, deep blue eyes slowly lift to him, though her gaze still felt distant, clouded, in a way, as if she were staring through him. She hadn't realized how quickly her heart was racing, or how fast she was breathing. It felt like she was drowning. Her hand shakily lift, fingers tangling into the fabric of his sleeve.

"I'm sorry—" Amaryllis' voice slipped out quietly, nearly lost to the ambient sounds in the city. "I'm sorry—" she says again, though her mind isn't really sure why she is. Sorry for ruining everything. Sorry for being like this. Sorry for twisting this nice, pleasant day, they were spending together into something far more horrific and painful. Or perhaps it was for the comrades lost, lost because of her. Warm tears spilled over her eyes, rolling down her cheeks in heavy drops that soon splashed down to the concrete at their feet.

"It's good, yeah." Damien continues to nibble, bites slow and deliberate. Cinnamon bread... he'd have to have that combination more often. "Real good." Another nod, finally glancing over at her work. "You made all of these?"

Amaryllis can't help but smile at his response, taking a bite of her own slice of cinnamon bread. She nods quickly at his question, making sure her mouth wasn't full of bread before replying.

"Yes, I did! I really love to bake and cook, and making bread is pretty easy. I've been experimenting with the types of things I fold into the dough. Cinnamon and chocolate have been the clear winners so far, I think." Amaryllis takes another bite of the aforementioned cinnamon bread chewing thoughtfully.

"I have some plain dough that I haven't added anything to yet, so if you have any requests I'm all ears!"
