This boy doesn’t like having his picture taken one bit but thanks to his sweet sister, I sometimes get him distracted enough to get him in the frame. He turned three a few months ago and I think the preschool girls will have to watch out :)

Been teaching the kids to learn how to ride a bike the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately the area we live in isn’t very conducive to bike riding but we’re using our cul-de-sac to the point where they are getting dizzy :)
Even though it’s such a simple skill, it’s easy to see how empowering it is for the kids to learn something new. It’s a confident boost as a parent as well. So incredibly grateful to share my life with these wonderful humans.
For father’s day, Brooks and Nova had a collaborated on a book that described me as a dad. It was hilarious, humbling and so so sweet. And it made me realize how easy it can be to forget what a large and impactful (also literally, as I was described as gorilla) person one is in their lives. Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there.
I think someone is taking her model career more seriously these day. Hasselblad and Portra 400. They are perfect for each other.
After a couple of failed attempts, I finally got some decent results pushing hp5. These were just pushed two stops but I like the results. Definitely has a nice contrasty punch to them. Shot with the Hassy btw...love this camera so much.

My guy. This is one of my favorite shots of my little man. For the past year, he thinks anytime I aim my camera at him that it’s a game where has to grab the lens...it’s almost impossible to get a picture of him. Picked up a Canon F1N and a 50mm 1.4 for $150 at the local camera shop. Shot this wide open - not bad for an almost 50 year old lens.

Iphone Mike. I see this guy way too often. Mike is the guy I call when I crack my iphone screen...he’s come to my office 3 times this year alone. He’s a great guy and has a lots of business thanks to butterfinger handed folks like myself. He’s been on over 6,000 appointments since he started his business 6 years ago.

Survivor. This is my stepdad, Goran. He is 69 years old. Three months ago, he had a stroke. He woke up one morning with a bad headache, followed by numbness in the left side of his face and a few hours later he had no sensations in his left arm. He drove himself to the hospital where he sat for 4 hours before seeing an actual physician (that’s the Swedish health care system for you). The stroke wasn’t severe but it would have been devastating for someone with less mental and physical fortitude. You see, Goran, is like a living Buddha mixed with a dash of retiree ironman. His favorite past time are long, aimless walks in nature. Or going swimming in the ocean in less than ideal temperatures (he frequently goes in the wintertime). You’ll also find him sitting on his balcony for hours, taking in the beauty of everyday life in the neighborhood. He truly enjoys his own company, or rather, the company of what is…he is always present.
He also has an extremely high threshold for discomfort. While doing his military service, he broke his thigh bone during a cross country race but he didn’t stop, instead he ended up finishing the race, running several miles with his broken leg. His stubbornness cost him as he is still limping from the injury, 50 years later. He has completed Vattern Runt (300 kilometer bicycle race) 18 times and Styrkeproven twice (570 kilometers). Three weeks after his stroke, he hiked a 50 kilometer trail. This fall, he’s planning on climbing Kebnekaise (7,000 ft) and he’s registered to compete in Vasaloppet (900 kilometer cross country ski race) this winter. He finishes things. Another great example of this is his career. He got his first and only job with Volvo at 17. He retired with them 50 years later at 67.
Last week I asked him if the stroke changed things for him as far as being more appreciative and immersed in everyday aspects of life and he said: “No, not at all, I’ve always taken everything in as much as I possibly can. I’m just grateful I get to continue the journey.”
I often hear about photographers finding “their” lens...that lens that just works for them because the way it renders. I’ve never experienced that until now. I recently got my hands on the Zeiss 35mm Biogon F2 and it just works for me. Sharp, contrasty and just the right amount of that Zeiss 3D effect. Here are a few frames from the first test roll.

The return of Tri-X. Mixed in some tri-x lately and was reminded of how much I like it.
