Dear Singlers,

You are single on February 14, 2014. 

Some of you might not be bothered by the fact and enjoy laughing about it (I know I do!).

Some of you might feel a little lonely today because you don't have a special someone buying you chocolate while telling you how stupid this holiday is and how they shower you with appreciation 365 days a year, rather than just this one day. 

To celebrate our singleness I want you to make a pact with all us other singlers this Valentine's Day.

You aren't just a singler. You are a future lover. I know one day all of you will end up in a wonderful relationship. And when you do, you will not remember February 14, 2014. You won't remember this Valentine's Day because quite frankly, most taken people don't bother remembering what it was like to be a singler anymore. 

And so remember:

1. Thou shall not treat your single friends as if they have something missing in their lives.

2. Thou shall not gush about your bf/gf/hubby/wifey's Valentine's Day gift for the 50th time on Facebook.

3. Thou will always remember to appreciate the love you have. Friends and family because they stuck with you through all you "forever alone" crises. And your current lover because without them...well, you know what it was like.

4. Thou will make time for your single friends. They need you. And you need them for when your partner pisses you off and you need a ranting buddy.

5. Thou will respect love when you get it, and respect it enough to let it go when you need to. 

6. Thou will remember that love isn't about you.

7. Thou shall never lose thy independence or originality, and if thy love is true it shall not ask you to lose any of those things (hopefully). 

8. Thou shall not think that 'in a relationship' means 'in an exclusive and rather smashing secret club you cannot join.' 

9. Thou shall love love and love anything that inspires love in you.

10. Thou shall promise to always love thyself even if the world does not.

And so Singlers, celebrate today. Celebrate because today is Valentine's Day and you're single and you're feeling awesome and wise about it.

11. Thou should send your favorite single friends some flowers every Valentine's Day. They'll love you for it. :)
