Pineapples were a status symbol in 18th century England. They were so expensive that you could rent them by the night and take them to parties with you. Source

A Short, Self-Referential Poem for My Father
No, these poems are not about you. I'm sorry & you're welcome.
I Am a River in the Body of a Person Drowning in a River
I am a river in the body of a person drowning in a river.
There are knives buried in my mud.
There are people buried in my mud & I am holding the knives in my thousand hands.
A girl is cooling her own hands in my body.
I am a boy holding her hands with my river
& the knives are melting & the people are going back & they are clean.
I am given wings to replace all my severed hands.
A jaguar is swimming without a care in the world.

My poem, published in [PANK]
Back from Banff
Just got off a twelve-hour Greyhound trip coming home from Banff. All this week I got to be a part of a writers' retreat there with Lorna Crozier—my favourite poet, perhaps, in the world. The experience makes me want to try to contribute to this blog more as a way to have a "home base" for my operations. Nifty. We'll see how it goes.
I found this wall of Indonesian bumper stickers via Kevin Church’s twitter (@Kevin_Church) and this, no joke, is art. I can’t stop looking at it.
there are some incredible slogans on display here
if you don’t heart jiggy-jig i don’t know what to tell you
I can’t decide if I want Get Your Cunt Out or Fuck Me I’m Princess more. Wait nevermind. I want UTERUS!
I was so sure Grumpy But Gorgeous was going to be my new tumblr url but somebody’s already got it. :(
100% FUCK OFF
No one wants “Beau fucked a donkey”?
OK, dudes, I guess that’s more “get a dog up ya” and “suck a butt” for me.
I really like “I root fat chicks” but I think the juxtaposition of:
Up the bum no baby’s
Seize the moment
Beau fucked a donkey
Is really what draws the eye here.
I can’t stop staring at I WILL SHIT IN YOUR MOUTH.
GET YA CUNT OUT
A new single by Drake.
Get Ya Cunt Out is actually Mumford and Sons, Brockway.
I'm naming my life story Maggot Boy From Maggot Creek.
Bobby Draper Syndrome
When a character on a T.V. show is still too young to be of significant use to the story, or else is simply over shadowed by an older, more charismatic sibling. (Not to be confused with Holly White Syndrome, where a pregnancy storyline ends only for the newly introduced baby character to be almost completely ignored.)
Know sufferers: Bobby Draper, Rickon Stark, Tommon Baratheon (until recently).

What it's like writing in a room full of poets
"..." "..." "..." "...what's a better way of saying, like, 'she left'?" "...'she dissipated'." "..." "..." "...yea alright."
Oh baby, I love it when you write transgressive.
Couplet
Writing helps release the stress of pent-up voices in my head.
I forgot how much writing calms me down I may not have managed to wash my hair yet today but I wrote the beginning of a poem and that’s something
I have this saying on a small white card that I hang on a wall in my bedroom and it reads, "Today was a good writing day. Yesterday may be forgotten and tomorrow may be hell, but today was a good writing day. And that's all that matters."
Some nights, man, you gotta tucker yourself out by writing.
So I got published!
Calvin and Hobbes as Dean Morierty and Sal Paradise from On The Road, by my friend Darci Ritchey.
