Risk his neck for once in his life? Once?
The Ward mage couldn’t help but laugh at the man’s ignorance, a gloved hand moving to brush against the single scar decorating his right cheek as he smiled sarcastically. “You really should be grateful that I’m offering my assistance in the first place. As you’ve just stated, I am a terribly, terribly selfish individual who cares far more about his work than anything else. Logically, I should leave you to clean up the mess that you created, but luckily for you, this ziopa is feeling quite generous today.”
As Noudenet spoke, the armful of deepeyes wriggled in his hold, their tiny feet poking and prodding at him insistently to get him to shut his mouth, but he paid them no mind. Certainly, it wasn’t the best idea to continue provoking his totally-not-a-crush’s close friend, and he knew it. Yet, what was the actual harm in doing so after Noudenet’s most recent fuck-up had all but guaranteed that Owhi was most definitely going to hate him for the rest of his life? At this point, he had nothing to lose, so why bother holding his tongue?
“I assure you, the fairy will be found and returned home safely,” Noudenet stated with feigned confidence, drowsy neutrality returning to his scarred features. “Consider yourself lucky that you have easily the most competent mage in Ishgard lending you a hand. Not many would be eager to help out after having to put up with your… Charming personality, my good friend.”
to say he was upset or nervous would be a severe understatement. owhi was wracked with extreme worry to the point that he felt he couldn’t keep himself from breaking down into a crying heap. fortunately, haurchefant was holding on to him, practically keeping the warrior of light on his feet. the presence of the gladiator soothed owhi’s nerves a bit, but could not completely erase the messy feelings of having lost his precious fairy. his beloved companion who shared a deeper bond with him than anyone else. granted, lliya was still alive, owhi could feel it in his soul. however, he could tell she was in pain, and distressed. possibly dying. mismatched hues flitted skyward, watching as snow fell from above, blanketing the ground. haurchefant was speaking to him, though he wasn’t really paying much attention, instead trying to focus on lliya’s energy. he could feel the grip of the elezen tighten a bit around his arms, alerting him that the other was expecting some sort of answer to whatever he had said. shifting his gaze, owhi glanced to the man who had shown up such ridiculous yet endearing, endless support since the moment they met. cathal was always supportive of him of course, but haurchefant was on a different level. a sigh bubbled, owhi forcing a smile to grace his lips, grateful to have such an amazing person by his side. he watched as haurchefant hesitated before returning that smile, grip loosening. “cal is taking too long. i’ll go grab him, so wait here for me, okay?” indeed, his best friend was not here yet, even though he knew the urgency of the situation. was he picking a fight with noudenet again? with a gentle pat to haurchefant’s hand, owhi pulled away and turned, moving back into the building. the longer it took for them to start searching, the sooner it meant lliya might perish… no! she… she’ll be fine. he had to hold on to that hope and faith. they’d been through so much together, and survived much worse so… so he knew it was going to be fine… rounding a corner, he heard the voices before spotting the one he was looking for, though it didn’t look good. cathal stood with noudenet, looking more pissed than owhi had ever seen him before, and they seemed to be in a heated argument. oh no, he better to break this up before it turned physical… owhi cleared his throat rather loudly, approaching the two, gaze on cathal before switching to noudenet. “you were taking your time, cal, so i came to get you. is something wrong? ser haurchefant is waiting for us outside, so we shouldn’t keep him waiting.”
“the only thing i would be grateful for is your death.” he spat, anger bubbling at noudenet’s words. “if you want to talk logic, then you ought to have l-looked for that voidsent yourself, instead of asking owhi. a person who s-sends another into danger in their stead is the furthest from competency. just a heartless, lazy bastard who can’t do anything but w-waste away in a tiny room with no friends or anyone to care about him.” cathal wanted to hurt this elezen so much. he wanted to cut out his tongue and shove a knife down his throat. to gut him like a fish and choke him with his own intestines. bloodlust was flaring dangerously, but the moment owhi’s voice rang out, it cut through that violent fog with a clean slice, bringing cathal back down fairly quickly. he hadn’t realized he was starting to shake from the hostility he held towards noudenet. taking a step away before he actually swung a fist at the elezen, the ginger turned towards his friend who had decided to make quite the appropriately timed appearance. as owhi neared, his presence did heaps to calm cathal, aiding in gathering back his aloof demeanor. when the warrior of light turned his gaze to noudenet, irritation licked at cathal, but he dashed it away, instead moving closer to his best friend. he reached out to gently touch owhi’s arm in order to garner his attention back on him. “you’re right, we shouldn’t keep him any longer. come, and l-leave this elezen to his books and his room. we need t-to find lliya.” @sernoudenet
