URBAN OUTFITTERS TIP
They have rfid tags under the price labels of most of their tech gear.
There are not enough notes on this…..
!!!!!
my dumb ass tried to give lifting tips from my main account wowie
I'm going to lift a new top today. wish me luck!!
Walmart psa
2017 walmart will be implementing a new anti-shoplifting method known only as “code 82” It is called code 82 because every item will be surrounded by exactly 82 raw onions and that will make things very hard and very smelly to steal.
Hey you seem to do the self checkout method a lot and seem really good at it, any tips for a newbie?
Yes! I go to Walmart a lot and I don’t like concealing in my purse or walkouts so self checkout is how I do most my lifting.
I don’t do the barcode switching thing, I just straight up don’t scan things.
My tips -
- Try to do it when self checkouts are super busy. The more busy they are the more people the SA has to watch so that’s less time they have to focus on you specifically.
- Always buy at least a few things. They will notice if you go to the self checkout with a bunch of stuff and only ring up one thing. Just scan the cheap stuff and lift the more expensive stuff.
- Pretend to scan everything so it looks like you actually are ringing it up. Just act like you’re looking for a barcode and then mime scanning it with the barcode facing away so it doesn’t actually scan.
- Most self checkouts check the weight of things you bag and will cause a fuss if the weight is off, i.e. if you bag something you didn’t ring up. To get around this you need to scan something for real and put it in the bag, then pull the bag away and put stuff in it as you’re pulling it away. If the SA isn’t looking just grab a bag and quickly stuff shit in it.
- Hold stuff in your hands as much as possible so you can easily go from hands to bag. Obviously reaching into the cart and stuffing stuff straight from the cart into a bag is a bad idea because if an SA saw you you’d get caught.
- Bag everything. A lot of stores will check your receipt on the way out if they see you with something that isn’t bagged to make sure you paid for it. If they check your receipt and notice it’s missing a bunch of stuff it’s GG (this has never happened to me but if they ever do check my excuse will be something like “oh it beeped, I thought it scanned. Machine must be acting up.”)
- Be confident. Act like you’re just checking out like everyone else. Pretend you’re doing nothing wrong. Don’t be looking around to see if the SA is watching all the time. If you are approached use the above excuse. SAs do notice when you’re nervous. When i first started this method I’d look at the SA so much that I actually got approached by her and asked if I was okay because I seemed really distressed (she wasn’t even sus, just concerned)
That’s all I can think of right now, I’ll add more if I think of anything. Hope this helps.
i've heard that you shouldn't steal from Walmart but I'm not sure why? i've stolen a bunch of crap from there
So many asks today, phew. Walmart is known to have a strong LP staff. They have upped their security as a whole, so that’s why people say not to lift from there. I used the walk out method with a cart of groceries, but that’t because my Walmart where I used to live was shitty, and no one was going to notice. It all depends on your location, honestly. Just be careful.
I used to work at a Walmart and the LP guy had a huuuuge crush on me so he would brag to me a lot but here’s all I know (it prob won’t help)
-LP in Walmart work only in that store unless they are being trained, because trainees will train in a different store than they will be working in. - the room w the monitors is usually stationed by the entrance on the grocery side (if yours has the two sides with different entries) -if you hear “support manager (name) to (section)” that means they either are calling LP or calling a manager to that section to investigate a suspicious person/s -assume all cameras work, but they usually don’t. -LP is plain clothes and they regularly walk the floor to check blind spots in the camera field. They use their cell phones to text or call each other. -SA aren’t trained on anything that has to do with shoplifting so we are always required to call LP. And we can only call them from a overhead speaker, unless your locations LP carry wallows but those are mostly for maintenance. -I am not sure if he lied, but he told me that unless they see you conceal the item or leave without paying they can’t bother you. Not until you pass the towers. And he said IF YOU GO INTO THE BATHROOM, CONCEAL AND THEN LEAVE THEY CAN NOT STOP YOU. at least at my location but I think it’s company wide. -most fitting room SA have other things to do around closing. They have to do all clothes returns. So going around then is best for concealing. -LP often sneak around and peer through displays and around corners to try to observe you. -some Walmart LP live their jobs. They will run, sneak, and chase. So be very very careful.
Like I said, correct me if I’m wrong. This is all second hand from my old job. Which was awful btw
Tips I’ve picked up that always work
Never gotten caught with these bad boys
-Cup trick: where you take a not clear cup, like a coffee cup, and while walking around the store drop small items into your (clean and empty!) cup.
-Elastic belt trick: take a piece of elastic from the sewing store (the good kind) and tie/sew it around your waist. Make sure it fits, but is not tight! Then, wear a semi-baggy jacket (It’s that time of year!) and when you conceal, do it on your person by sneaking this to fit snuggly into that elastic band
-The inflatable bag: Take a very large ziplock or two, depends on the bag size, and blow them and stick them in your bag to make it look full. Then, while in a blind spot, as you put things in slowly deflate the bag to make it look proportionally as full as it was when you left.
-The Big Boots: take a large pair of non-sus knee high boots. make sure you can fit like, half your arm in the boot, because its so roomy. you know what I’m taking about. As you “shop”, drop things like jewelry, makeup, small packs of condoms, stickers, buttons, you know the drill. It may get uncomfortable in your shoe, but eh. Worth it, right?
Some (un)common knowledge:
-If you’re gonna lift clothes then for petes sake look at the price tag before you hold it up to your body or take it to the dressing rooms
-Don’t lift nail polish by putting up your sleeve it will fall out and break and BAM you’re caught
-Putting something between your thighs as a way of lifting is really hard because you have to walk out perfectly normal
-If you get shaky hands or get really nervous, pull out your phone and pretend to call/text someone to meet you at the store. This way, when you leave without buying anything, it looks like you went outside to find your friend
-Dont start pulling out your goods in the parking lot. Rookie mistake here. Wait until you get in your car with doors locked and windows rolled up. Even better, wait till you’re at home.
-Scope the store out a couple of days before you lift
-Trust your gut
-Try to avoid backpacks; instead go for a purse type thing. Easier to slip things in
- Don’t try to avoid LP. Ask at them only one or two times, if you make eye contact with them, just smile and wave. If you think someone is watching you, go up to Lp and ask shit like “do u have wet n’ wild mascara? Is there any pink ribbon here? What foundation tone should i use?” Seem interested while they talk. But don’t get too friendly.
-Be cautious and observant but not paranoid and jumpy
-if you get a bad vibe, leave with what you’ve already concealed. Not getting your hair dye is better then getting a fine.
-Lifting while wearing a skin tight sundress is hard mode.
-Barcodes don’t set off alarms unless theres a RDIF under it so check!!
-If you cant afford a hook or magnet, then use a seam ripper for what you can. If you don’t mind small holes in clothes, that is.
Anything else to add?

10 top ways shoplifters get caught
This was written by an LP, i merely copied and pasted it. REBLOG AND INFORM
Despite what you may have heard, there is no perfect shoplifting method. You can be caught NO MATTER how you try to steal. A lot of it is the luck of the draw. Is LP in the store? Are they busy with another shoplifter? Are they watching you? There is no way you can be sure. You can be sure however, that you significantly increase your chances of getting yourself caught when:
10)You carry a flat purse or back-pack: Fairly obvious, right? Not only is this an attention grabber, but it also makes the LP Agent’s job much easier. Your bag was flat, and then magically became full right after all the merchandise you were carrying disappeared. Did the LP Agent watch you fill your bag? That does not really matter. The LP Agent did not need to see concealment (See my article: The 6 Steps of Loss Prevention) to confidently make a stop on you. It is fairly obvious. Most LP Agents will make that stop. On top of being obvious, entering a store with an empty bag can also bump your charge from petty theft to burglary.
9)You over-act: You pick up the item you plan on stealing. You begin tapping on it, wiggling it, playing with it, and looking around like everything is cool. Yes, people actually think this works. When you take this approach you are basically telling LP Agents “Hey, I am not going to steal this! Look, I’m playing with it out in the open. I wouldn’t be doing that if I were going to steal it.” Then you steal it. Happens all the time.
8)You under-act: You pick up the item you are going to steal and immediately palm the item, or hold it behind something. You then quickly walk off to the most deserted part of the store. The race is on. The LP Agent knows he needs to get a view of you, either on camera or on the floor to witness the concealment.
7)You are overly friendly: You come in and immediately start chatting with store employees. You’re such a nice person! You would never steal. This will work when trying to deceive regular workers but LP is not falling for it. I have even had employees try to stop me from making an apprehension because they thought I was going to make a bad stop on that “nice” person. When I see someone being overly friendly with cashiers, managers or anybody with a name tag, I immediately become suspicious. They could be a genuinely nice person but nice people steal too.
6)You fail the “scare test”: When I suspect somebody is a shoplifter I will often give them the scare test. This means I will have several people walk past the area where my suspect is looking at items. A normal shopper will pay little to no attention to who is around them. A nervous shoplifter will turn their head at everyone that passes by. Often times they will look them up and down evaluating whether or not they seem like an undercover. When this happens it is a good indicator that I should set up on this person and wait for them to “go”.
5)You are bringing non-clothing items into the fitting room: Some people actually think that if they conceal merchandise in the fitting room that they can not be arrested by Loss Prevention Agents. This is because it eliminates the possibility of the LP Agent’s step # 3. This might work on some LP Agents, but certainly not the one’s that are good at what they do. If I see someone bringing something into the fitting room that is not supposed to be tried on such as DVDs, Jewelry, makeup, etc., they have my full attention until I see them exit the fitting room carrying that merchandise. Believe me, bringing stuff into the fitting room is a false sense of security and it will get you caught.
4)You are leaving an evidence trail: You select the item you want to steal. You are not sure if the item will make the door beep or not so you decide to remove the item from the package. Or maybe you want to pretend the item was already your’s so you rip the tags off. Now you can conceal the item. However, you also need to rid yourself of the package. So you discard it on the shelf, or you hide it behind something. You just made the LP Agents job 95% easier. Maybe they did not see you conceal the item, but they did see you toss something down or hide something. They find the package. Now LP knows what the item is, they know you removed it from the package (this is vandalism and is illegal), and they know you are up to no good. When you walk out of the store, all the LP Agent needs to do is approach you with the empty package and demand that you return the item. They will likely tell you that you are on video opening it (you may or may not be). They will tell you that if you do not return the item you will be charged with vandalism (this trick is likely against their LP policy but it is completely legal). Once you produce the item you are under arrest for theft. It is a lose-lose situation that you created by leaving a trail of packages and tags.
3)You have “shifty” eyes: Everyone knows that you are not supposed to blatantly look for cameras or look around for people when you are going to steal. However, it seems that the majority overcompensates. When you look up to the ceiling and then side to side without moving your head, you have “shifty eyes”. Shifty eyes get shoplifters caught every day. In fact, if I am about to give up on a perspective shoplifter and they shift their eyes, I will watch them until they leave the store, no exceptions.
2)You use two hands: As an LP Agent, nothing catches my eye more than somebody with both hands on the sales shelf. When an honest shopper looks at a product of interest on the sales shelf, they typically take the item in one hand and remove it from the shelf to look at it in the open. When a shoplifter puts both hands on a product and does not remove the object from the shelf it is a DEAD GIVE AWAY that they are opening something. I have caught shoplifters that I otherwise would not have even noticed simply because they used two hands!
1)You just plain look like a shoplifter: You know who you are! This is by far the most common reason people get caught. If you fit the stereotypical profile of someone who would likely shoplift you are likely being watched as an “easy stat”. So if you have 10 facial piercings, and a bright green mohawk, or if you’re just a shady looking character, don’t do it.
REBLOG AND HELP A FRIEND

Today, I watched my mom be denied for a job because she stole a fifty cent pin when she was 17. I don't want my future to be that way. I'll still update this blog with tips and such, but, I think this is it for me. for now. idk. i need to rethink a lot of things
Ummmm how about no.
You guys might want to block this blog.
Woah boost so hard!!
Don't Do's
Instead of talking about what to do when lifting clothes, let’s talk about what not to do:
-don’t give back double tagged clothes -don’t pick up any clothes without checking the price tag and/or holding it up to your body to check sizing -don’t make too much eye contact with employees, but if it’s unavoidable make eye contact and smile -don’t look at cams -don’t look around the store, and doooon’t look up at the ceiling whatsoever -don’t be too friendly -don’t be rude to employees -don’t detag when the music in store stops playing -don’t (or at least try not to) detag when an employee is near by, they WILL know the sound (this goes for customers as well, some may have worked in retail and can snitch) -if you’re not buying anything, don’t go into the dressing room more than once -don’t steal clothing without bringing a duplicate into the dressing room (ex. don’t steal a yellow top without bringing in 1-2 more of different sizes) -don’t act nervous (fidget, drop items, stretch a lot, etc). Something that may help is pretending to play on your phone
That’s all I can think of, if you guys come up with more feel free to add to this post! 🌸

Nordstrom Nordstrom has possibly the most famously liberal return policy among the major retailers. First of all, there’s no time limit. Party City With Receipt: items must be returned within 30 days after purchase for refund or store credit; lots of items (cosmetics, hosiery, seasonal items, wigs, etc.) are nonrefundable Without Receipt: may issue store credit without receipt, but it’s up to the manager LP: stores usually have at least one LP person working; there are cameras near registers and at a couple of other places throughout the store, there are still lots of blindspots though; some areas of the store (like the wedding stuff section or the stationery section) are pretty dead and usually don’t have cameras; most locations don’t use security tags on anything. *Info From Kaiju*
Petsmart The mega pet store offers full refunds for returns with receipt within 60 days of the purchase. After that, merchandise credit is issued. Petsmart even accepts returns of items purchased at other retailers, even competitors, with the original receipt for merchandise credit or exchange. LP..not active. Being the OCD person I am, I organized all the tips by store & various topics. I made this as a page yesterday, but the links wouldn’t work, so here’s a post.
As stated before, this is a role-play blog, & if you attempt any of these, you are doing so at your own risk. Shoplifting is illegal, especially if you’re over 18 (in the US. not sure about other countries) Thanks for playing along! :)

People that use magnets have purchased them from AliExpress, Ebay, & Amazon. The most popular one is the N52 neodymium magnet.
Many stores have magnet detectors!!!
Checks for tags EVERYWHERE. Some are hidden in seams of clothing! Some are hidden underneath bar codes!
Unless you’re a pro, avoid these stores: WalMart, K-Mart, Kohls, JC Penny, Target, Macy’s, Dillards, Belks, Neiman Marcus, & other department stores.
NEVER shoplift at church sales, thift stores (except Salvation Army lmao), & yard sales. NEVER rob people.
