No visible cameras at B&N?
(Posted publicly bc I answered the post privately, but it might help somebody sooooo.)
If you don’t see cameras it may not necessarily MEAN there AREN’T any…but it’s obvious you thought of that or else you wouldn'tve asked! Good job taking extra precautions though.
It’s very possible there are “hidden” or disguised cameras (there is a post circulating about pinhole cams, and cams disguised in ceiling speakers etc.) rather than the standard black domes. That being said, it would do to go in on a recon visit and try to see if there are speakers etc in locations that would make sense for a camera to be in. Aka over the restroom entrance, over high-risk shelves - manga and fancy notebooks/moleskine are where I ALWAYS see black domes at my local B&N. It’s also possible you are very lucky and there really aren’t any cams at all. I’ve only seen one BN like this, but it was smaller and a very old shop and I guess they never expanded their cams past the registers…? But best to not assume you’re lucky!
You can try crouching to create a blindspot with your body, or disguising the book in a scarf. I personally like to wear a poncho and carry a totebag - I tuck the book in the folds of my poncho under my arm, and pull the totebag over the concealed book. That way I can clamp my armpit on the book to hold it, but it looks normal like I’m just clutching my tote. …obviously this only works if you’re taking one normal, or maybe at most two thin books at a time.
You can also try a method I’ve seen here, where you go in with a bookbag or pack with some books of your own. Get the books you want and some dummy books, then take stuff out of your pack and pretend to study/research etc. (meanwhile search through and detag the books you do want, BN puts these stiff square flat stickertags that beep like hell). When done, put the books that are yours AND your wanted books casually in your bag like they were yours all along. Leave the dummy book pile. ^^^the key to this is acting natural. It may be best to wait until you have more experience before trying this, bc this can be really nervewracking since you’re in the open and relying on your air of confidence/everyone around you ignoring you. Please note I’VE NEVER TRIED THIS.
Masterpost!!
So it’s been requested that there be a huge list of stores and the types of tags they use so here is kind of a first draft. I actually had a lot of this written down already so there’s also some general advice about each store. I’ve put down what I learned through research or experience so some stores may have less info than others. Remember this can vary depending on where you live and you should always check thoroughly for tags!
This is a guide on types of tags (with pics) and removal for reference:-)
If there’s a store left off that you want me to add or you have any corrections/additional info please message me so I can add it and this list can be more informative!
Abercrombie and Fitch/Hollister Super tags that require a hook Black dome cameras, mostly near register, but the separate rooms make for easy concealment
Aerie/American Eagle Tags for items over $30-$40 In my experience the dressing rooms aren’t well monitored so I conceal there
Aeropostale No tags Personally I don’t shop here so I don’t have much advice about dressing rooms or cameras but as always scope out the store and leave if you’re sketched out!
American Apparel RFID and pencil tags Sometimes you can find things untagged. SAs count going into the dressing room but they don’t usually hover so you can conceal a few things
Anthropologie RFID
Bath and Body Works No tags! Few cameras (mostly by register) and easy to conceal; SAs will probably greet you but if you’re nice they’ll leave you alone
Barnes and Noble NEVER try to lift medical textbooks. Paperbacks are hardly tagged, especially books that have been out awhile, but still flip through them. If you are lifting a moleskin journal or something take the plastic off first. The best method is taking a school backpack, picking out a few books, then sitting for awhile, reading/doing work/etc then just sticking your new books in your backpack
Charlotte Russe I haven’t been in awhile so idk the tags but they do monitor dressing rooms. Once I went in an unlocked dressing room and an SA knocked and asked who gave me the room and why I didn’t have a card saying my # of items etc. However I don’t think they count coming out.
Claire’s No tags Lots of mirrors in Claire’s so watch for those when finding a blind spot!
DIck’s Sporting Goods Tags require a hook I believe; almost everything is tagged in apparel Someone has to unlock the dressing room but they don’t count items
Dillard’s No tags from what I’ve heard
Forever 21 Dome ink tags; require a magnet I don’t believe they use RFIDs, so if an item is untagged it’s probably good to go; However the dressing rooms are well monitored, so concealing on the floor is probably best
Francesca’s No tags! The stores are pretty small so concealing clothes can be a bit difficult, but if they don’t count in the dressing room you’re prob good to go. Jewelry is super easy though
Free People Attentive SAs; they like to start rooms for you. Conceal on the floor and try not to linger
Garage I believe some things have tags but I know there are things that don’t. Not many SAs in my experience so pretty easy to conceal if you find a blind spot. They also monitor dressing rooms pretty well
J Crew Tag items over $30 and uses RFIDs
H&M Not sure about tags Stores are generally big and the SAs stick to the register area so concealing isn’t very hard
Hot Topic Not exactly sure about tags but I don’t think they tag everything
Loft RFID Large store usually, and I don’t remember anyone ever monitoring the dressing rooms very much
Lush No tags! Small store and attentive SAs, so getting in out as fast as possible is best
Lululemon Most things are tagged (I don’t remember what kind) and SAs count going into dressing rooms. You can conceal things like leggings and shorts pretty easily, but only if you find a good blindspot since there are cams
Madewell RFID tags
Old Navy No tags Generally few cameras and dressing rooms aren’t monitored
Pacsun Ink tags or super tags, RFIDs inside cardboard tags. I’ve also seen gator tags that you can remove with a hair band Generally inattentive SAs, few cameras (still scope out in advance), don’t count going in dressing rooms
Starbucks No tags This is one of the easiest stores. After ordering a drink just pick up whatever stuff you want and hold it like you own it. As far as I know employees don’t really do much when merchandise goes missing, but make sure no other customers are paying attention
Sephora Some tags, likely RFIDs on palettes I don’t really mess with Sephora; lots of cams and attentive SAs
Target Black dome cameras all around the store. They count going into dressing rooms. Finding a blindspot is hard but can be done. Please be extremely careful here they have plainclothes LP that are generally pretty good and they really don’t fuck around lol
Urban Outifitters Black square tags that require a magnet; RFIDs in price tags I’ve heard they count going in and out of dressing rooms and that they use magnet sensors so be careful. I also believe they have LP but not much info on that
Victoria’s Secret Pencil tags that require a magnet, but they sometimes use tags that require hook so be prepared; tag almost all clothes and bras and the occasional panty Locations vary greatly, but employees can’t act on you unless they are sure you’re stealing. There’s a lot of advice about VS floating around, and most people conceal in the dressing room, using shopper bags to bring in a lot of underwear
Ulta RFIDs on palettes There’s usually a blind spot in the hair care section, but always scope out the area well. Pretty attentive SAs but just act like you know what you’re looking for
god bless this post
always remember posts like these are based on the OP’s personal experiences and should not be taken to heart about other stores near you !!!!
As someone who works at Starbucks this advice is not true and also true. I would always go when they’re really busy cause everyone behind the counters is running around like a mad man and if your location is on a college campus (like mine) then you’re golden. I would just pick something you like (I’ve only tried this with cups not coffee and etc.) and hold it like it’s urs. Make sure you remove any plastic. When you get up to the front if they ask if you want it in the cup be like “no, I’m just returning this cup for a friend but I figured I’d stop for Starbucks” or if they point out that the cup is obviously new be like “yeah I know it’s new my (name a relative or friend from out of state) just sent it to me in the mail in my care package.” If you do want it in the cup be like “yeah it’s new but my (again insert a relative or friend) just sent it to me in the mail.” Again I work on a college campus so these are great for those locations.
boosting tips part 2!
I figured I’d make a part 2 to my old boosting tips post because that post is old (but did SO well. It’s still circulating a year later) and I have more information now! The things in this post will be stuff a bit more nuanced than usual boosting tips and things I only learned after a year of boosting now. So hopefully these will help you put your best foot forward even if you’re just starting out!
1. Choose the cover photo WISELY. I know this sounds obvious, but it goes a little deeper than just making sure it shows the product without being blurry. It’s important to know which photo of the item will work best depending on what it is. For example, if the packaging is ugly, but the inside of the item isn’t, post the inside as the cover photo! Even if people don’t know what it is, a pretty photo of the inside will make them click and look further. Once, I was selling an Smashbox palette that had relatively plain/ugly packaging and I was using the packaging as the cover photo and it hadn’t sold. Once I changed the cover photo to a pic of the inside, where the pans of shadow were big and sparkly, it sold within a few days.
2. Separate yourself from the pack. The best example I can use for this is Instax cameras. There’s TONS of Instax cameras for sale on Posh/Mercari/Ebay and all of the listings are relatively the same. I make my Instax’s sell faster than others by including an extra set of film with it, even if it’s just a 10-pack. It’s even better if the film is the colorful/black and white kind, because this is unusual. Make sure both the camera and the extra set of film are BOTH in the cover photo. Another tip for this is trying to lift a unique color (the light greens go FAST and are hard to find). If you’re selling a palette during Christmas time, try to drop the price by $5 from the rest of the listings and take a photo of the product with some Christmas lights or something. This makes yours the one everyone’s eyes go to when they search for that specific palette and a billion similar listings show up.
3. Make bundle discounts and advertise it by making it a separate listing. I see people on Posh do this all the time. Download a text on photo app, make a pic of text that says, for example, “bundle any 3 $20 items and receive an offer for all for $40!” and post it to your page, then share it enough to keep the post at the top of your closet. Make posts that say you’re having a closet clear out and all offers will be considered (even if you don’t plan to consider all offers).
4. Try not to get offended by lowball offers. Lowball offers at least let you know that people are interested, and if you counter with your lowest offer (even if the offer is a lot higher than their lowball offer) sometimes people still accept it because they only lowballed you to see how low you would go. The more items you sell and the cheaper you sell them for, the more offers you will get. The more offers you get, the more exposure you get. The more exposure you get means eventually you’ll sell most of your things for face value.
5. Write in the description of the item what it comes with. Even if it’s just a palette, write, “comes with box, plastic protective sleeve over shadows, original brush,” etc. Also, utilize the term “still in original packaging” as much as possible.
6. Make a theme on your page just like you do with your Instagram. Either make a set-up for your photos where you take all of the pictures of your items, or make sure the lighting/color tones and schemes are similar. This might sound silly but it makes your page more appealing to the eye, which in turn makes people more inclined to scroll down it to see all of the items you have to offer, not just the things you’ve recently listed/shared.
7. Similar to that ^, try to make your listings cohesive item-wise (but not so cohesive that they’re all the same and you have no variety.) For example, if you’re selling an Instax, pick up some film too and in the description of the camera listing write, “check out my closet for separate deals on film. Bundle & save!” If you lift a Urban Decay lipstick, try lifting a lipgloss/liquid lipstick in the same or similar shades. These lip products are in the same vein and will make people more likely to bundle or, ifthey see the lipstick and think to themselves, “man I wish they had this but in lipgloss instead of lipstick,” you’ll have that too.
8. The best times to list/share your listings seem to be Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Also lunch breaks during weekdays (11pm-1pm). Saturday and Sunday are when people are most inclined to buy because they’ve recently been paid, and lunch breaks are when most people are on their phones scrolling aimlessly.
If you have other tips feel free to add them here! Good luck boosting guys! (This and a month or two after Christmas are the best times to do it!)

Can someone give advice on how to lift shoes?
Preferably without doing the shoe switch thing bc I don’t have any crappy shoes that I’m willing to get rid of.
I have my eye on a pair of riding boots. Not sure how to get them in my hands. Very frustrating.
Note: This method isn’t compatible with all shoestores Most, if not all shoe stores have benches. This is awesome. If you’re in a less secure store, some benches may even become blindspots (if you bend down, eccetra, eccetra.) Pre-pick a bench. Pick out a couple of shoe boxes. Sit down on your bench and get all your shoes out, try them on, make a mess of things. Make sure your large handbag is mostly under the bench. Now, in this mess, you have a few options: a) Kick the shoes you want underneath the bench casually, and try to kick it towards your bag. When your “finished browsing”, get down and grab your bag and swiftly try to put the shoes you want in them. b) if not difficult, kick your shoes into your bag. c) Make sure you have a coat/sweatshirt with you. Put it down sort of underneath the bench. Kick your shoes underneath the bench. When you get down it pick up your stuff, put the shoes in your arm, lay your jacket sweatshirt over it, and walk out. I hope I was helpful!
THANK.
I use the bench method every time at DSW and it’s never failed me! The first time I ever took shoes was from J.C. Penney and I did the second method here where I just put my jacket over them and walked out with them in my arms lol. I love getting shoes tho!!
caught stories masterpost!
i find caught stories so helpful when i’m lifting, so i decided to make a masterpost for some popular stores! obviously this is not exhaustive, so feel free to add on.

Pre-Christmas tings. Today really sucked but looking back on this baby haul makes me smile.
Omg 😂😂
Okay so there’s like SO many things that aren’t pictured because I’ve just lifted them periodically and being is that I’m in college I’ll lift something, come back to my dorm and not have the opportunity to photograph it , and then I’ll wash it or put it up and then I forget what I just lifted and didn’t. So , here’s what I remember lifting 😂 I’ll list some more things I do vaguely or do remember lifting but the total is going to be a guesstimate considering I don’t remember the pricing of everything.
Stuff I Vaguely Remember:
Àbh lipstick - $20
Like $20 worth of stuff from the dollar store
$20 worth of VS jewelry
I did however, after checking in my notes, realize that I forgot a lot of stuff and I actually kept up with the total of stuff that is pictured and stuff that isn’t lol. That totaled to be $613.50
So we have $613.50 + $60(from above listed items) + $97 from the makeup photo
🎉TOTAL🎉
$770.50
Pretty sure it’s my biggest haul, sorry this one is all over the place I just forget that I lift shit lol.

boosting tips
figured i’d make a post about things i’ve personally learned boosting since i’ve only ever seen one other real post about it but it’s fucking awesome.keep in mind, i only started boosting the day after christmas, so it’s only been about two weeks now, and i only use P0shmark and Merccari but i’ve already made over $700 :-) if u dont wanna read the whole thing you can skim by just checking out the stuff in italics
things that sell fast and are easy to lift: -Better Than Sex mascaras (waterproof or normal) I sell these for about $13 on p0shmark and they normally go within a day or two -Tarte shape tape (if you want to keep the fact that these are stolen items, i’d only ever lift the same shade or similar shades. it’s kinda shady if one days you’re selling a fair neutral and a week later you’re selling a dark saying “it was a christmas gift and doesn’t match me” like bitch we all know nobody thought for a sec that that was your color lmaooo) -ANYTHING FENTY BEAUTY holy shit. small easy things in this line include the highlight palettes and the match stix trios -NARS blushes (specifically Orgasm and Deep Throat bc they’re popular on the internet) (i sell these in bundles of two and they go within the first 2 days) -NARS Laguna bronzer -BECCA highlighters -Too Faced sweet peach lip glosses -Kat Von D tattoo liner -Anastasia brow wiz
-small jewelry from american eagle, anthropolgie, francescas, hot topic things that sell fast and aren’t so easy to lift: -any of the fucking urban decay naked palettes -any of the fucking too faced sweet peach/chocolate palettes -subculture and modern renaissance holy shit these normally are out of my hands within minutes of being posted -high end perfumes (i don’t even fuck with this shit) -FENTY palette -literally like any palette that you hear beauty gurus on youtube mention ever -anything limited edition -shirts and sweats from PINK or VS (but mostly PINK) (but you pretty much have to make sure that logo is somewhere apparent on the garment bc that’s all people care about for real) pretty much anything from the following brands will sell within a week at a decent price: -too faced, urban decay, tarte, anastasia, MAC, NARS, Lancome, Kat Von D, Benefit, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, PINK and VS, brandy melville, free people, Calvin Klein things you think might sell fast but actually won’t -bras from PINK or VS (bc there are so many fucking sizes) -foundations & concealers (bc there are so many fucking shades)
-skin care products (bc no one really gives a shit)
-stuff from Lush (people are hella sus of buying Lush products from places other than lush idky) (but if you’re gonna you’re gonna want to make sure to post a pic of the expiration date and if it’s outdated the price has to decrease by like 70% sorry babes) -anything high-end that isn’t spoken a lot about by beauty gurus on youtube (example: laura geller. her shit is awesome but nobody on p0sh cares about it bc she doesn’t give her shit away to youtubers for free reviews) other random tips -if you’re not selling a whole lot or you want to sell items quicker for whatever reason, do research on what are the hottest products in the hottest brands at any given time. limited edition shit will always sell well after it’s removed from the shelves, but people will still buy stuff from you even if it’s still selling in stores. example: look up “best drugstore lipsticks” and lift 5 of them and sell all 5 as a bundle for $15-$20. example: watch popular beauty gurus on youtube and their 2017 favorites videos. products that are repeated multiple times by multiple different people should go into a lift list for you. items like this, at the moment, include: tarte shape tape, tart gifted mascara, urban decay perversion mascara, laura merceir powder (you can get the tiny ones at sephora a lot of the time), mario badescu facial spray, MAC lipstick in velvet teddy and honey love, urban decay all nighter setting spray, NARS laguna bronzer, anastasia brow wiz, any of the mascaras by benefit, naked heat palette, sweet peach palette -take pics of the highlighters you’re trying to sell in good ass lighting where those bitches TWINKLE. this sounds like a dumb tip but good lighting (for everything really) is really important i’ve found -keep in mind the shipping price on whatever you’re selling. on p0sh it’s a flat rate of like $7 for the buyer, so you can’t sell something at full price or even $7 beneath full price because that will make no sense to the buyer. As a rule of thumb, if it’s a lifted good i’m selling, i sell it for about 45% off. if 45% off still doesn’t cover shipping costs then you have to knock it down a few more bucks. So basically anything that sells at retail price for $14 or less you’ll have to cut it down more than 45% in order for the buyer to consider it a good sale. Often times people on p0sh will ask if you will sell the same thing to them on Merrrcari and some ppl think this is sus but honestly people just want the better shipping options Merrcari offers -BUNDLE ITEMS. for exmaple: instead of just selling ONE pantie for $5 to 6 people and then having to package 6 boxes with one pantie each, just sell 5 panties as a bundle for $15-$20 to one person. this is still a good sale for the buyer, you make more money quicker, and you have less work to do -if you want to be cautious of anyone finding out that the items you’re selling are stolen, make every clothing piece the same size (or at least around the same size) with maybe the occasional “this was a christmas gift and it’s too large/small for me yadda yadda yadda”. Also, you DON’T have to and really SHOULDN’T provide “reasons” as to why you’re selling everything you’re selling. non-suspicious people don’t even consider explaining why they’re selling the item, and if you prelude every sale with a “this was too big/small”, “not my color”, “ my fashion style has changed” etc, it’ll look more like you have something to hide than if you didn’t say anything at all. Also, i know you’ll probably be apprehensive of including any real pictures of yourself for your info page, but the more innocent and non suspicious and typical you look to the public the more typical you will seem. you could also prob find pics online and use those and use like a fake college -include pics of the serial numbers of EVERY makeup product you purchase and boost, assuming you really did steal it and its authentic. this eliminates any suspicions that you’re selling fake goods, which is a common suspicion people have when one is selling a lot of high-end product for relatively cheap, with new things constantly showing up in their closet -take good fucking pictures. just fucking do it. it helps so much. it makes you look professional and gives people reason to trust you and your “business”. also be fucking nice
-pretty stuff will always sell faster than ugly stuff. this is why palettes and highlighters go quicker than, say, skin care. skin care items are often items that have to be sought out, where as the sweet peach pallete is something someone may not have known they even wanted until they saw it posted. you know? doesn’t matter how high end that skin care is bby people on apps like p0sh and merc are only window shopping for shit they dont’ have to worry about not working out. appeal to the single moms drunk on wine scrolling through their phones at 11pm
-package your shit nicely and be a kiss ass with a lil note or free gift or some shit. people eat that up I’m telling yaand vwalla, start rolling in dat dough bby
THIS IS GOLD DONT SLEEP ON IT 🙌🙌
BOOSTING TIPS 😁😁😁
A cute lil hiding spot…
I have no idea what you could hide in there……🤣……..but its a pretty good spot a created.
All you need is a small box, glue, scissors and a largeish bag of pads. enjoy❤️
This is actually genius.
🌸 Tips for winter!
So I decided to make a post about some little tips I use for winter! Feel free to try your own or whatever but this is what works for me. WITH PICTURES (some)
🌸 So look at all this shit you are gonna get. All this thicc ass winter clothing items look at that yum.
🌸 But how on earth will you fit it all in your bag and not have it all stuffed looking AND still have room for the other stores too!? This is how I do it! Make sure you get some rubber bands, I prefer the industrial ones but these were the ones I could find so yeah.
🌸 Fold the arms inward, if its long sleeve, short sleeve it doesn’t really matter.
🌸 Fold it is half, and smooth it out! A Lot of clothing is unevenly cut ( this for example has a longer back so make sure its all smooth and flat )
🌸 Then you just roll it up as tight as you can and rubber band that shit in place. As you can see by the comparison picture the amount of space this product takes up compared to before is way less using the bag of rubber bands as the comparison, even if the mass did not change if you roll up all your items you can stack them and it wont look bulky!
🌸 These next tips I didn’t want to take pictures of but they are just as good!
🌸 For panties and smaller items like jewelry and small makeup and what not, the key is the boots. I have 3 boots, they are all a size larger than I actually am. In fitting rooms such as VS, Place the undies as FLAT as you can in the sole of the boot, don’t bend the tag! Spread it out evenly along the bottom so it won’t bunch up on your toes. Repeat for 3-4 pairs in both shoes.
🌸 For makeup, rule 1 MAKE SURE THE SHIT WONT BULGE OUT YOUR SHOE LMAO. I only really use this for lip liners, eye liners, small things that are not box shaped because it would be kinda obvious if your walking around with box shapes poking out your shoes.
🌸 WEAR A LONG COAT! The canada goose I got is the perfect length, when you bend down to look at something i covers your shoes and bag and you can use that yo your advantage. shoe panties in your boots and inside coat pockets when your bent down. Shove whatever the fuck you want in there. fuck it.
🌸 Now what if you don’t want to have anything in your bag incase you get stopped? Are you wearing your coat? ARE YOU WEARING YOUR COAT? ok good. Wrap whatever the fuck you want around your torso, waist, hips, whatever and tie it like this with your trusty rubber bands UNLESS you have a waist trainer or spanx, then just use those. BUT STILL FOLLOW MY FOLDING RULES. Fold it FLAT. pants in half, then wrap. Tops in half, then wrap, you want to lessen the bulk as much as your can.
🌸 Sorry this is the only picture I could find of this type of knot but its the one where you just wrap it around and through. Idk what its called I am not a boy scout. But that will keep it from moving around on your person and from falling. Make sure its TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT. You can always take all this shit off in the bathrooms and put into your reusable shopping bags or a shopping bag you got from buying a $3 pair of leggings from F21. fr just do that if you need a larger opaque bag.
🌸 Which brings my to my next tip. LEGGINGS. There are SO many leggings out there is very very large elastic waist bands you can use to conceal too. Palettes, clothings, literally anything if its thicccc enough. WEAR YOUR COAT THO. The coat covers any puff you might of missed.
🌸 Be AWARE of what your grabbing. if its something limited edition ( such as the balmain VS thing, or makeup ) They DO communicate to other employees like “ hey yo she grabbed this shit watch it “ but little do they know you actually grabbed 3, and when you had the others back to the employee after you concealed the one they will be like “ Ok she gave them back its fine we all gucci “ and boom got yourself some designer shit.
🌸 Also fuck ulta I hate it stay away from it if you are new or not fucking seasoned. The employees break policy and fuck you up I swear I try to warn as many people as I can about this but fr fuck this company. ( though if they break policy you can get out of charges BUT STILL IS IT WORTH IT???)
🌸 Bring your purse, or laptop bag if you a guy, one or two reusable bags, or bags you have saved, rubber bands, hook, magnets, s3 key, A fucking exacto knife, whatever your tools are. Keep the obvious ones on your body (duh) but rubber bands and the exacto knife are chill in your bag. If you KNOW the store you lifting from, bring a bag you already have from it and move your lifted items in to that bag in the bathrooms or whatever.
🌸 WAYS TO THROW OFF SUSPICION. 🌸
🌸 If you getting sus’d you are either A) not white B) fucking something up or C) unlucky. Figure out which one it is and use that shit to your advantage. If you are being watched, have something in your had and reach for your drink ( ALWAYS HAVE A BOTTLED DRINK IN YOUR BAG ) in your bag and bring it back out, if they approach you they will usually feel super embarrassed and leave. Works like a charm. If they don’t leave, slowly like shop your way towards them and be really nice and polite and just watch and if they still on you ask if there is some kinda problem. If they a big mouth you can get free shit if they accuse you before you do anything. A+. this is how they will look
Any other question feel free to ask. gl hf.

Good Lifting Cover!!
Okay so I was thinking about this earlier and the smartest thing to do is to dress like you work at the mall!! Find a store and dress how they dress.. hell even grab a name tag if you can get one. Now you have a good cover. You are just wasting time before you have to go In or before you break is over. You have a perfect reason not to buy anything, or not to really be looking in the first place.
I just notice that if I see someone who works in the mall I don’t even give them a second glance. I just let them pass their time. Like a say hello, share a little inside ‘oh you have to work today too’ then off they go. That’s it.
Someone try this and let me know what happened!!!
this is a great idea!!!! i still have my lanyard from a retail company i briefly worked at who does not have a dress code. i’ll wear my lanyard out today and see how it goes!!!
i forgot to report back on this bc i had a busy af day. i only went to 2 stores w/ it BUT literally not a single SA tried to cs me. nobody even gave me a second glance. AND ITS A GOOD WAY TO GET INFO FROM TALKATIVE SA’S. only one person spoke to me and all she did was ask me if we had been super busy bc they had been swamped. she said their manager was out of town and they didn’t have a replacement so everything was going to shit. AT THIS STORE ONLY MANAGERS WATCH CAMERAS so i knew i was good. btw, this was a few mins after walking into the store. i hadn’t concealed or even picked up anything yet. she didn’t even look in my direction (nobody did) after that 2 min convo so she definitely wasn’t trying to set me up. retail workers complain to other retail workers!!!!!
moral of the story: i would definitely try this if possible
Uniforms in general make a great disguise. Obviously never go lifting in your normal work outfit cuz that’s a super way to get tracked down, but buy some basic scrubs or get your friends old work uniform and wear that. (Solid color Polo is a great universal style for tons of companies, you can buy plastic pin-on name tags and print a sticker out with “your” name and the company logo) In the unfortunate even they realize what happened in the aftermath, your most prodominant feature will be the uniform, you as a person will fade from memory, you’ll just be that nurse/fast food employee who took the eyeliner. Disguises ain’t all wigs and glasses.
If you were to aim for the uniform of a store in the mall, don’t make it a recognizable one. They might know that the claires doesn’t have anyone who works there with your description. Make it a larger store with more employees. I don’t work in a mall but I know most of the employees who work in the businesses next to my job.
