Tips on Getting Stopped, but not Caught

Lifting or not, people get stopped. You’ve probably been stopped before and never thought anything of it. If you get stopped and questioned, act just like you would if you hadn’t lifted a day in your life. Being polite, while feigning "offended" or "confused" is the easiest way to go. Alternatively, you could be b*tch about being hassled but that may not work for you personally or could be perceived as defensive (making it harder to backpeddle.) Find what works for you. Ultimately though in that moment, you are completely innocent by anyone's standards.

Stores that are “hands off” can’t physically stop you and be within policy. Any employee that isn't LP shouldn't be doing anything remotely close to stopping customers. When they do, deal either one of 2 ways; Either hold a receipt and project the impression of complying with their requests by giving them a closed mouth smile and nod while keeping pace, when they want to check a receipt or bags or something else, just act like its exactly what you’d if you weren’t lifting. Otherwise, walk briskly, showing no receipt, and shoot them a bothered look as if to say their accosting you is rude as is their desire to needlessly waste your time. Legally, SA’s and LP CAN NOT physically prevent you from leaving. They aren’t police, they can’t detain you.

If LP is stopping you, they're stopping you for a reason, so there's no point playing polite. When they stop you, they're either formally accusing you of shoplifting or they’re not. Call them out point-blank and ask "Are you accusing me of something?" Look them in the eye, press them for an answer, and don't let them skirt around it. Say "no" to any and all other requests. If they don't give you a straight answer & evade the question with something like "if you let us see your receipt we can clear this up", don't waste time. Say "no thanks" and walk away. If they touch you, treat it as assault . If they’re accusing of lifting, ask them for the details of what they're accusing you of having lifted, or tell them to call the police and WALK THE FUCK AWAY. If they're going to tackle you, they're going to tackle you, nothing you do will change that. Better them getting an assault charge than you getting a theft charge.

Don't get sucked into the game of "follow me" to the side/office, and empty out your bag", don’t let them inspect your belongings or receipt. I read a post by a former LP who said he couldn't believe how people just blindly complied with any LP request; e.g. "empty out your pockets" - they did, "let me see your purse" - "yes sir" then he went on to say "As LP, I repeat, we have no authority. All we can do is ask you and hope for your cooperation. If they had the authority to search you, they wouldn't be asking. They have no more right to inspect you than a private citizen. LP are good a faking authority, and this works most of the time because people fear authority. To get rid of the fear, disassociate LP from authority. They bullshit people and it works as if the police had done it. You can't let them get to you. Stay safe

I use a different "Cup Method"

Most malls have at least some kind of food court.

I try to find the one that gives the biggest non-see through cup, 

Mc Donalds has the large sweet tea cups that are only $1 that are Styrofoam and they are pretty big. I ask for it with out ice, the ice takes up to much room.

I think Chick-Fil-a has some pretty big cups as well, just make sure NO ICE! 

The whole part of the no ice is that you’re gonna pour most of the liquid out at one of the mall bathrooms not in the store that you will be going into.

now you can do this method two ways, 

if the store does not have a bathroom try to hit those last, if the store does have a bathroom hit those first, 

what you’re gonna do is detag in the dressing room, carry your cup in there with you place the tags into the cup. (make sure you place the actual pin part back into the tag you do NOT want a hole in your cup!!)

now if you’re gonna hit other stores go use the bathroom in the store that you’re in! do not walk out with the cup full of tags!!!!!!! and take the tags out of the cup in a stall, make sure you pick a stall with a trash can or those little ones stuck to the side. yes put your hand into the cup and dig those suckers out!! place in trash can of course! not the toilet!! you do not want to clog the toilet! 

now once you’ve gotten ALL of them out! leave the store, (fake a call, what ever!)

hit the next store that has a bathroom! repeat the process!! 

now when it comes to stores that don’t have a bathroom, this is where you have to say good bye to your beloved cup! 

after repeating most of the process 

Taking the cup into the fitting room, 

placing the tags into the cup etc.. .

now no bathroom = not being able to take out the tags! 

walk around the store a little more.and then throw the cup away in the store! 

IN THE STORE!!! for the love of god do not walk out of the store with a cup full of tags the liquid will NOT stop them from going off! 

now you can take your stuff to your car in between each store if you do that try to drive around to a different entrance and if you want to go hit another store just go get another cup, and repeat the process. 

******* Just remember to get ALL of the tag pieces out of the cup if you’re able to do so in the bathroom.

Also if the liquid in the cup is getting low add water to it! just don’t let any one see you do that! make sure there is enough so the tags don’t rattle! 

also!! if your in the last store when you’re gonna throw the cup a way make sure you throw it in the trash yourself! if they reach for your cup to throw it away say that you’re sick and you’d rather them not touch the cup. ask them if they can lift the trash can up to you so can you throw it away with out them touching it!

This has worked hundreds of times for me! 

and lastly before this post gets any longer

Always look out for these! Shops now stick them underneath other stickers like the price sticker or bar code. -They are thicker than normal stickers. -And in the first picture you can just about see the metal strips. -They are REALLY sticky.

Alrighty here's a tip for Spencer's

I've worked at Spencers for about a year now, and the way we tag things is usually the same in all stores. At least it is in my district.

Anyways, it's usually pretty easy to lift the small things like stickers, shot glasses, etc. But the main thing people want to know about is the sex toys.

The vibrators, cock rings, finger vibes, and bondage things aren't tagged, just shove em in a bag tbh. The things that are tagged are the dildos, pumps, and "pocket pussies". They're source tagged and all we do it tape the boxes and put a sticker on the box that says " security device enclosed". so most people rip the boxes open and hide it somewhere else, usually in shirts or the poster bins. Or they'll literally just throw it on the ground behind/ under the displays.

The other thing people wonder about is the shirts.

The shirts at my store have ink tags on them but they honestly do nothing. We don't even have towers at my store, ~surprise!!~ , so the keychains and lanyards that are tagged do nothing but keep them in groups to make it "harder" to steal. But again, they do nothing. The tags are easily removed with a strong magnet

The best times to come in my opinion are right before close, when there's only like two people. Because we're either counting registers or stocking the back. And honestly I've seen people stuff shit in their bags and I couldn't give two shits cause I'm tired and I wanna leave that shitty place.

And another good time to come is on a weekend in mid day. Sometimes it's so busy you can barely walk through the store cause its so small, so we can't get everywhere to watch people.

We have a no chase policy, so if we see you take something, we can't chase you down, all we can do is call security. If we see you actually conceal something, we can say something. We can confront you, but only if we see you in the act of concealing. So make sure you conceal out of sight. And it's usually only the manager that can confront, so the chances of that happening are slim.

We do have cameras, and they're always monitored, but there's so much shit in that store that blind spots are everywhere.

Lifting Clothes: The Coat Sneak

(Cold weather Lift-Tip) Requirements: petticoat or leather jacket  METHOD 1 for folded clothing/ not good for quantity  Take a bigger jacket because the clothing is going to go into your sleeve. For me I used a large leather Calvin Klein Jacket.             When you walk into the store you want you coat to be open and hung on your one shoulder. It will cover half you body like this. You could optionally hang it on both shoulders but for me I hung it on one.              You’ll need to look before doing the next step, and I’d recommend having you back turned from cameras. In this method you take one piece of clothing in a hand, and simultaneously slide the clothing down your sleeve while putting your coat on. This is easier than the typical shove-it-up-your-sleeve method, and cleaner. If the item is tagged next you want to find a decoy item for the dressing room. while in there you can detag. Don’t repeat this multiple times in one store though because its suspicious as hell.

Lifting Clothes: The Team Player

 Requirements:Partner

    METHOD 1 This works best with under staffed stores. I’ve lifted a shit ton while SAs were distracted with another customer. Discuss with your partner the game plan before you get in there. Have a set time of how long youre going to be there. Have your partner walk in a few minutes before you (obviously). Have them be really friendly and talkative to the SAs, ask questions, and try stuff on. Everyone will think they’re more inclined to buy something than you are so they will concentrate on them mostly. While they’re talking you can grab tons. Walk out before them, then call your partner a minute later. They will tell the SAs they have to go because its an emergency. Done.

Shoe Box Tip

 I never saw this tip posted anywhere, but if it was I don’t mean to discredit you, i just personally never saw it. This tip only works with store brands within your mall of course. Basically you keep the shoe box and bag from your last shoe purchase. Next time you go lifting you can carry the shoe box. You can hold a lot of things within the empty shoe box as long as your tightly roll up the clothing. With this method you can fill up the box which is less sus than your bags magically getting fatter.  Pros: structured form less sus Cons: restricted to dressing room concealment doesn’t hold a lot IDK just a little trick I thought up. -BT

HOBBY LOBBY LIFTING PSA

Hobby Lobby is quite possibly the easiest place to shoplift in the entire world, in which I frequent probably the most often, but I may have to change that now.

I always keep a keen ear out for intercom codes while in store, and it’s a good fuckin thing I did.

I heard something about “John code __ for Christmas Tree 8” and didnt think much of it, until an employee walked past me, looked at me, smiled, and then IMMEDIATELY once passing me called “Christmas Tree 8 confirmed” over the intercom system. We were nowhere near the christmas trees.

I grabbed one small thing to pay for, and fucking dipped.

BE CAUTIOUS!! ALWAYS!

The amazon customer service chat is completely automated, and if you tell it that you didn’t receive a package and ask for a refund it will send the payment back to your account, no questions asked, even if there’s a picture of it on your doorstep. No human ever verifies those interactions and you could theoretically do this many times without being caught

ULTA TIPS

So recently friends of mine have been asking how I get so much from ULTA, so rather than repeating my same list of things I do everytime to each of them, here’s a handy dandy masterpost of everything I do B)

**DISCLAIMER. THIS IS A LIST OF EVERYTHING THAT WORKS FOR ME PERSONALLY. I DO NOT NOW THE LAYOUT OF EVERY ULTA NOR THE RULES EVERY ULTA FOLLOWS INDIVIDUALLY. EVERYTHING STATED HERE SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. **

**step one. scope the place.**

I prefer to do this a week or so before I come to the store. If you come the exact day before and an employee recognizes you from the day before, that could be a bit sus. Take note of how the SAs act. Are they extremely friendly? Do they bombard you with questions once you enter? Or are they more relaxed, doing nothing much in their section. Scope out the cameras in the store. I lie to do this by pretending to drink from a offee cup, taking a sip and looking u at the ceiling for cameas. Go to any areas you may believe could be blindspots, popular areas I’ve noticed from reading here are the drugstore section and low end hair care isle. When at these ‘blindspots,’ chec in site for cameras. My rule of thumb is if you can see a camera, it can see you, so keep that in mind when scoping out the place. 

**step two. Dressing the part.**

Have some form of makeup on, but try not to overdo it with anything over the top that’llcatch the SAs eyes. Try for a natural look, o a subtle smoky eye. Having some makeup on shows that you probably know wat you’re talking about, so it’s good to go in looking like that. Don’t dress in your lazy day clothes, but also don’t dress in your highest fashion. Wear something ashionable, but preferably more neutral colors. Try not to wear bold prints or anything eyecatching. For your purse, choosing something simple and medium sized is your best bet. Try getting something that looks small but can hold a lot. My purse for example is a neutral pink and looks like a smaller handbag, but can hol a multitude of palettes on the inside even though it doesn’t look like it, 

**step three. doing the deed*

Here’s where things get fun. When first arriving to the store, if greeted smile and respond bac. Don’t be a dic, it ain’t cute and they’ll prob watch your more just to catch you if you do something.  I like to do the ‘cottonball trick’ which I read about somewhere here (someone please link me the creditor) Put those in the bag and try to put other ‘fake items’ in to take up space. Now it’s action time. Go to anywhere in the store you like or would like something. Before I go I like to make a checlist on my phone with the ulta app, this is just so I have a gameplan but it’s not necessary. Don’t get greedy. Get whatever you can stuff in your purse in under 20 minutes, because taking longer than that much time is probably gonna be hella sus. Aim for under 10 min if you don’t want to buy anything. Alright, no I’m assuming you got everything you needed. Cool, time for concealing. Go to your blindspot which you staked out the other day, and start concealing . Assume every customer around is LP or a snitch, so don’t stuff or anything with them aroun. Put shit in your bag as fast as you can and as quietly. REMOVING TAGS. Th only tags I’ve noticed are the sticker type, which you can easily peel off. It will make a noise, so try to do soin a timely manner or when noise is going on through the store. Put the sticckers on other items you may see in the blindspot. Items I’ve noticed tagged in stores are naked palettes and contour kits. Keep in mind it may be different with every store with what is tagged and what isn’t, so always double chec. Now’s m favorite part: ‘the speed round.’ I always bring a coffee cup to the ULTA I go to in order to do a trick I learned from here (again someone link the creditor pls). What you do is cut a slit in the the bottom of the cup and cover the sides with napkins, and then shove shit up there that you want. I usually do this is with NYX or buxom lipglosses and lipsticks, as it’s easy and a quick way to get extra oitems you want.

Npow that you have everything, get the fuck out. I you took over 20 minutes, buy cotton balls and maybe some cheep ulta brand shit. If you took under 10 minutes, just leave. 

**step four. LP and avoiding getting arrested**

Assume every customer is lp. Be kind to all sa. Ulta has no chase policy. They can’t do much since they’re strict on staff harming customers, so use this to your advantage. The most they’ll do is write your license plate or call the police. Don’t show whatever’s in your bag to anyone unless they identify that they have warrant to do so. And ofc, if you ever feel even slightly nervous drop whatever you have and leave. Always trust your gut. Love y'all and stay safe, happy lifting! -clyde
