I work at a B&Ń and tonight I saw this in receiving! This basically explains the standards for placing RFID tags in books. As you can see, it’s only certain books that will be tagged, but it’s always good to check!

Also, be aware of the 20% off, 30% off stickers on the front of the books. In my location, these are almost always RFID stickers so remove everything you see! It won’t hurt to take off anything that could possibly make you beep at the door.

I THOUGHT I WAS BUSTED

HOLY SHIT so I was shopping with my mom the other day. Like actually spending $$ shopping but I went into the dressing room and concealed some stuff under my clothes and after we checked out and started to leave THE TOWERS BEEPED AND MY MOM TURNS AROUND AND GOES BACK IN THE STORE (she doesn’t know I lift) AND IM DYING LIKE I WANT TO LEAVE but I go back up to the registers again with her so they can check our stuff and they’re looking and nothing has hard tags on it so I’m freaking out so bad and my vision started to get all weird and blurry (dramatic I know) BUT FINALLY THE LAST THING THEY CHECKED HAD A HARD TAG so they removed it and even gave us a $5 coupon for the “inconvenience” like jokes on your bitch. I already take whatever I want I don’t need $5 off but I’m glad my mom can use it

Thank you! I couldn’t agree more. A reaction is all those people want. They obviously have very little of a life and arguing with them is only giving them something they so desperately need to do. Anti lifting posts make me roll my eyes too but just remember those losers aren’t even worth your time or the risk of the community’s privacy! Don’t give them what they want by fighting back. Three Rules of Having a Lifting Blog

1. Don’t post selfies. Ever. 2. Check the exif data in your pics and DELETE it (very important) 3. Avoid very specific personal info

This is for the new lifters out there, I’ve been here a while, these rules are ingrained in my head. Make sure your lifter friends are also aware of these rules, cause I have seen them give out their friend’s personal info in an effort to not be doxxed themselves before.

1. EVERY STATE DIFFERS. 2. They don’t always follow the law so regardless of whether charges are dropped, the whole ordeal of being caught can still go down.

THIS. And this is triply a thing if you’re not from the US. Again, your state or territory will have its own laws and procedures and definitions of crime, too. Definitely worth checking out where the law applies to you locally and what you’re potentially up against. Googling your local state and federal laws should bring up resources for you to become acquainted with… it’s also interesting (and worth knowing legal information anyway). Furthermore, looking at codes of practice applicable to security staff in your area might be advisable if your state has such legislation, too. Another thing that needs to be widely distributed: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. Again, these are going to differ depending on location, as well as how old you are. I know a lot of Liftblr is under 18… this can make a HUGE difference in terms of things the police can do to you– in some regions, you cannot be made to give fingerprint samples without a parent consenting to it, for example. STAY SAFE AND KNOW YOUR RIGHTS, PEOPLE. LEARN YOUR LEGAL SHIT.

Tips for lifting alcohol?

World Market is the best place to get it! So many places lock away their alcohol or put caps on the bottles that beep when you walk out. World Market has a good selection and very few cameras so find a display to go behind while you conceal. Leave right after you do though, you don’t want to stick around and get caught lifting alcohol. It’s a lot more serious of a punishment for minors and often times if an employee sees you in the act they are required to call their manager with no leniency so if you want to lift more at that store, do it first.
