I have played every game in the series (yes even Death by Degrees lmao) and am up-to-date on the lore and love discussing it. This blog will not be spoiler free, though let me know if you need spoilers tagged!

In interactions I am happy to acknowledge your muse's relationships/dynamics with other characters as part of the plot if at all relevant, because I think interconnected portrayals are cool and cohesive and a great way for our muses to get to know each other!

Such a gently pleading crimson gaze, how could she not agree to the request? Without a moment of hesitation Shadow is hoisted up into a pair of strong arms and delicately embraced.

FFXIV verse.

Jun is a resident of Doma and from a proud clan who practice a barehanded melee fighting discipline. The Kazama line has long had both physical and sensory aptitudes beyond the norm, and Jun herself is exceptionally gifted in both areas. She was able to perceive things that others could not, and is especially attuned to the aetheric flows of the environment.

The region she hails from was under the rulership of the Mishima clan, and when the landscape was growing polluted and damaged by the ceruleum trade, she took her concerns personally to Kazuya Mishima himself. This confrontation results in them dueling, Kazuya eventually conceding to her concerns about the environmental impact of the ceruleum mining and the two bond, quite unexpectedly, and fall in love.

Not long after their son is born, the Garlean Empire invades Doma. Kazuya refuses to submit to the takeover and fights to the bitter end, holding out for a few years but eventually he is believed 'killed' (rumour has it that his exiled father played a part in it) and their lands annexed. Jun is forced to flee with their child, knowing that the heir would be a target.

She travels around a lot, never putting down roots both for safety's sake and because her only true home is currently lost to her. The longest she stays in one place is with the sylphs in Little Solace, who grow to trust her rather quickly and there is a bond of empathy due to them also having been displaced. Jun is also able to 'understand' the elementals of the Black Shroud to a degree, something thought unique to Padjals, though it becomes apparent this is due to her possessing a gift known in these lands as The Echo.

Eventually she joins the Doman Liberation Front, returning home and participating in the uprising that takes place upon the death of the Garlean Emperor, Solus. When it becomes clear that the rebellion is failing due to Zenos yae Galvus single handedly taking out entire squads of rebels, Jun steps up to engage in combat with Zenos for long enough to facilitate the mass exodus of the refugees fleeing to Eorzea. After the battle, which ends in a stalemate, Jun does not join those fleeing. An earlier raid on a castrum had uncovered evidence of horrific voidsent 'hybrid' experiments, something that makes her suspect that her husband may still be alive and thus she remains behind with the other rebels.

Notes:

The Kazuya and Zenos in this verse are specific and exclusive to @contemptim's muses.

For interaction purposes, Jun is most likely encounterable during the events of Stormblood, and beyond.

I personally am currently in post-STB but don't mind spoilers and am open to plotting beyond that. I'm still learning the lore and story though so pls be patient with me! 🙏

This is a real fun topic to me so I'm going to write waaay too much lol and I'm going to discuss the subject in not just the romantic but platonic and familial senses too, as all forms of love are important!

Spending time with someone - I see her and Kazuya as having been joined at the hip back in the T2 days after they fell in love! They were both extremely busy during the tournament, so carving out time for each other and maintaining what companionship they could with every spare moment was very important. And it was the same with Jin, I feel. Living somewhere so remote, they were both each other's main social interaction and kept each other from being lonely. There was also a lot she wanted to share with her son; the beauty of nature, the Kazama style and its purpose, her personal philosophy that was imparted to him, and it's likely she shared stories with him of her time with the WWWC as well. All of this was a key part of how he was nurtured.

Acts of service - Jun likes getting to see to her loved ones' needs (even if it does result in Jin eating a huge bowl of peas lmao) a bit like spending time, the common thread here I suppose is showing love through attentiveness. The demonstration that their wellbeing and the things that are important to them, are important to her, too, by virtue of it being something that's meaningful to the people she loves. A measure of protectiveness features into this as well, "This power exists to protect those who are dear to me", after all.

Physical touch - While she is quite private about it, demonstrating affection is very meaningful to Jun. It wouldn't do for a martial artist's only physical interactions with others to be violence. I view this as something that helped her connect with Kazuya, because he had not been given a kind touch by anyone in many, many years.

Words of affirmation - Something that is nice, but not necessary for her to receive. I actually strongly headcanon that she and Kazuya have never said "I love you" to each other directly. They show what the other means to them in ways that don't require words. However, should someone she loves be in need of verbal validation she is happy to provide it.

Receiving gifts - This is bottom of the pile for what I hope are obvious reasons. Jun has never been an overly materialistic person. There may be objects that have sentimental value to her but overall the best gift someone could give her is their presence!

warm burnt orange Riding off into the sunset, the hope of a happy ending, the bitter after taste that still in it's own way smells kinda great. Your love is all bitter hopefulness, all about a broken heart that refuses to quit, all about the unshakable knowledge that a burning fire has a great comforting warm and a soft glowing light, all about the way when the sun comes down there's a beautiful starry night. It's stubbornness, it's the refusal to give up, the clutching of broken shards despite the searing pain and being adamant that dammit you can still make a beautiful stained glass window out of it. Yours is a screaming heart, a pleading love, a bitter and almost belligerent hopefulness that things will still work out even if you have to roll up your sleeves and make them. And god, aren't you tired? Isn't your heart heavy? Is all your hard work worth it? Don't you just want to curl up and let it be? Let the fire turn to ashes and the sky turn dark and let love die down and watch people leave? But you don't, do you? You're the bravest out of all of us, so you pick up the pieces and you keep going, you keep believing and you keep your heart full of hope because some day. Some day you know you'll get it. You keep riding off into the sunset and you keep filling my heart with hope as you go because god, how do I wish you finally get it too.
