After reading a friends post, I came to realize that there are different types of rape. “Being forced physically, threatened, drugged, or intimidated in one way, shape or form so they can’t say no or are afraid to do so counts.” I was often talked into/intimidated into having sex. I never knew that was considered rape. The fact that I know this information, just now learning that I’ve been raped even though it happened ages ago. It hurts. It hurts in an unimaginable way. It hurt then, but it hurts even more now.

No means no. Don’t ask me more than once. I don’t need to explain myself to you. I don’t need to spell out my feelings to you. I don’t need you. And I especially don’t owe you anything. You’re not entitled to me, or to any woman you lay eyes on. No means no. Don’t cat call me on the street. Don’t try and feel me up in the hallway at school. Don’t tell me that your hurtful words are a compliment. Don’t tell me that I should be flattered that ‘a guy like you is interested in a girl like me.’ No means no. Don’t treat me like an object. Don’t degrade me. Don’t tell me what I can and cannot wear, say or think. Don’t talk to me in any way less than you would talk to your mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter. No means no. And when I say no, I mean it. That doesn’t mean that continual pestering is going to get you any further. That doesn’t mean that tomorrow I will have changed my mind. That doesn’t mean shame me in public because I won’t ‘put out.’ No means no.

I am not a game you get to play whenever you want. When I say no, that's the end.
