Snagged these amazing quality scans from a user on Reddit and I wanted to share! It’s so hard to find legible copies. This mag is from January 2000!
There’s so many talk shows where they have makeover segments, especially in the 90s/00s, and it’s always turning alternative people “normal”. And I’m so fed up with it because alt people are and always will be viewed as a commodity or a trend. There’s so much more exposure now as the Internet is a thing, the fact that people do it as a “trend” or whatever and don’t realize how political or in-depth it is. And how hypersexualized being alternative has gotten..I’m so exasperated. As someone who is alternative and do align myself with alternative views, I feel used and not seen.
