small steps
nothingnesstome:
Ienzo slowly relaxed as he walked with Kairi and her grandmother; it was easier to do so when he wasn’t the center of attention, being coaxed to talk or socialize with other townsfolk. Miss Ava continued along with her errands for the day as if she wasn’t towing along an extra child, which was all fine and well to Ienzo. As part of their little unit, he could peer at shop goods and listen to the environment without actively taking part in it.
That was a good memory–quietly holding his mother’s hand while she shopped, curiously watching bakers decorate their pastries and storekeepers organize their wares. It was something he could think back on without freezing up, utterly lost in his thoughts.
Or so he thought, until he realized Kairi was looking at him inquisitively. He blinked as he quickly pieced together the question he missed, eyes darting from the little girl to her grandmother as she turned her attention to them again. Ice cream? He chewed on his lower lip but remained silent, deciding that was the best way not to impose further.
Kairi soon forgets the question she posed Ienzo, instead focusing entirely on the idea of ice cream itself. She hopped and swung her arms as they walked together to the ice cream stand. It doesn't take long for the stand to come into sight, and when it does Kairi releases both of the hands she's been holding to bolt over to it, chattering at the ice cream man. He laughs, and asks her what flavor she'd pick today.
Ava's unconcerned by Kairi's sudden departure, and instead chuckles quietly while keeping her moderate pace. She does look to Ienzo, motioning for him to go ahead and go with Kairi. "Tell him what you'd like as well, I'll pay for you both."
Kairi decides on a mix of strawberry and chocolate today, getting scooped ice cream rather than a bar. She grins, turning to look at Ava and Ienzo while she waits, taking a few quick bites of the ice cream. "What're you gonna get?" Her focus again shifts to Ienzo-- he's a curiosity to the small girl who's never seen another child be so quiet before.

As Kairi continued listing ways that should could help him, Ienzo raised a brow in steadily growing disbelief. He set about wheeling himself further into the library, not caring how his voice carried in the opposite direction as he spoke. “You do realize that unwanted help can itself be tiresome, right?” Maybe it was stubbornness and lingering resentment talking, but the prospect of Kairi hanging around to help agitated him.
…She did have a point about the books, though. As much as he disliked admitting it, he highly doubted anyone else would be puttering around the library to clean up; there were other areas both in and around the castle that were in greater disarray.
“So what do you intend to do?” he finally asked after a solid minute of silence. “Sit around until I actually need something?”
Kairi made a point of following behind Ienzo quickly, listening to him make another effort at getting rid of her. He wasn’t the only one that was stubborn. Kairi waited a few seconds before she responded. “Maybe-- yes. You have to admit there’d be things you would have trouble doing somewhere along the way, though. Unwanted or not, you might need help with something, so I’m going to stick around. So... yes, I’m probably just going to sit with you until you have something for me to do.” He didn’t give her any feedback regarding the books, but Kairi bet that if they walked around she would see the same table from before still piled with them. It was something to do if he didn’t go straight back to reading them.
a lesson in emotions
nothingnesstome:
The papercut was shallow enough not to bleed, allowing Ienzo to continue with his work without a significant pause. There was a still a large stack of papers ahead of him, and stumbling over something so minor would just delay getting to lunch–and the next task, whatever it might be.
Despite his work, he could feel something different in the air several minutes later. It was a subtle change at first, but it seemed to grow–closer, stronger–as he remained in his seat. Pulling his focus away from Even’s proposal copies, he scanned the nearby bookcases for another presence, catching the retreating sight of red hair before it disappeared down an aisle.
Kairi. Of course. He really shouldn’t have been surprised, considering how often the Princess-of-Heart-turned-Keyblade-wielder seemed to show up in Radiant Garden. Under the pretense of “checking up on them.” Right.
He sourly mused over what his detection of Kairi could mean. Was he just hyper-aware of his environment while he was working in this silence? She had no darkness in her heart, so it wasn’t as if he could detect her darkness. He could detect what wasn’t there when they were enveloped in darkness, back during her initial visit.
Back when she foolishly threw herself into the horde of Heartless repeatedly. To both of their detriment.
His gaze grew stormy and unfocused as he thought back to that incident. Healing in the aftermath of ending up pinned under debris took a terribly long time. What kinds of trials would she create this time?
It wasn't hard for Kairi to find titles that stood out to her on the shelves. Radant Garden's library had more variety than that of the library back home. It made since, she remembered talks of King Mickey having visited this world when all of them were still children-- before Xehanort's influence tainted everything. This world had seen it's share of the war before they had even realized it existed.
She sighed quietly at the depressing thought of it all, opening the book she had chosen to start with. She was fairly far from where Ienzo was doing whatever he'd decided to do today. They could peacefully coexist like this, couldn't they? She hadn't gone over to bother him today, and imagined he'd appreciate the distance even if she was still present in the same room. Plenty of room to both mind their own business, but not enough room for them to fight-- hopefully.
Kairi couldn't help looking up from her book occasionally to where she knew Ienzo was, wondering what he'd do in response to her presence. Would he make an effort, or come at her with his usual sourness?
my character doesn’t just need lovers
They need enemies that break them and force them to test their morals
They need friends that will backstab them and hurt their feelings
They need an enemy that will become a friend
They need friends that they would lay down their life for
They need people so close to them that they might as well be siblings
They need fights and conflict and battles that could leave them broken and inches from death
My character does not just need lovers

Respect Your RP Partners
Something I’ve noticed in the RP community is that we expect our RP partners to be writing machines. We expect them to churn out a reply almost immediately after we post ours, be on when we are, always send us memes, et cetera. Here’s the thing: our RP partners are not machines. They are human beings who need to be respected for more than their ability to write. Other than the usual “your RP partners may not feel like replying at the moment,” here are some things to respect them for, and remember when you’re RPing:
Respect that your RP partner may be in school.
Respect that your RP partner may be employed.
Respect that your RP partner may have at least one physical illness.
Respect that your RP partner may have at least one mental illness.
Respect that your RP partner may have friends outside of tumblr.
Respect that your RP partner may have a family outside of tumblr.
Respect that your RP partner may be a parent.
Respect that your RP partner may have hobbies outside of tumblr.
Respect that your RP partner may have religious obligations.
Respect that your RP partner may not always have internet, or computer access.
Respect that your RP partner may be going through a difficult life situation.
Respect that your RP partner does not have to disclose everything happening in their personal life to you.
Too often, it’s easy to say “no one RPs with me” or “no one ships with me” or “no one sends me anything” without considering any of the above, or even more circumstances your RP partner(s) may be dealing with. Too often, it’s easy to say one of those things, and not consider how the other person feels when reading it. Someone dealing with at least one of these circumstances can feel guilty for not replying right away, sending something, et cetera, or feel like they have to once they see their partner is unhappy.
I know I do when I see things like that on my dash.
When you start feeling guilty for not doing something that is part of your hobby, or feeling like you have to do something that is supposed to be fun, it stops being fun. It feels like a job. I know when I feel obligated to do a reply for a person, I drag my feet. I do not feel excited about the RP as much anymore. Even if they say, “Sure, I’ll wait,” I see them post elsewhere that no one sends them things, or no one RPs with them. The guilt turns on. I feel like I have to reply. It’s a passive-aggressive tactic that a person may not even be aware that they’re doing. No matter what, though, it needs to stop.
All in all, we need to show more kindness and patience towards our RP partners. The best relationships I have on this website are the ones where we treat each other with not only that, but with mutual respect. We also communicate regularly, and tell each other if we need to hold onto replies. I feel relieved knowing I can go to my RP partners, and tell them to hold onto my replies because I’m not feeling well, and I don’t know when I will be. It is an amazing feeling. We need more of that on this website, and less expecting one another to be robots.
We are all human. Never forget that.
i really miss rping tbh i’ve been ridiculously busy w/ bills, doctor stuff, studying, i did end up getting one commission and another i need to email again to see what happened w/ them and just _so many things_ i might make a very slow come back until i find a Proper Job/move or whatever day by day basis rn
greek godly parent quiz

Result: Poseidon
Your godly parent is Poseidon, Stormbringer, Earthshaker and Lord of the Oceans.
Children of Poseidon display similar qualities to those of Zeus, including pride and stubbornness but are more in control of their emotions, making them reasonable in nature. You place high value on those you care about and will go to extremes to help them out. Your greatest strength and weakness is your devotion to those closest to you. Children of Poseidon are generally calm and easy to get along with, which lulls people into a sense of comfort with them. However, being influenced by the never-still ocean, unpredictability should be your middle name, and when provoked, you can unleash rage that you might not even be able to control. Children of Poseidon, unlike those of Zeus, are driven not by law and duty, but by emotional attachments instead, not pausing to judge the consequences of their actions until it's too late. Some demigods might be influenced by the thrilling nature of the power they possess and can lose their heads in it, usually requiring a calming external force to snap them out of it. Without a control factor, children of Poseidon may begin to crave destruction rather than stay balanced.

Pride, loyalty, devotion, reason, leadership, humor, unpredictability, rage
Another picture of kairi from around two weeks ago, fully cleaned up and colored. I actually created it for a layout for a new Kairi RP blog I’m creating, which you won’t see for a little while since I’m also coding it.
leaps onto her back "carry me"
“But you’re the taller one!” Kairi stumbles, trying to keep herself and her twin from toppling over. “Why do I have to be the one who carries you? You could ask Riku! Or Sora’d probably even do it...”
Is anybody ok with my muse mentioning your muse in a thread they have with somebody else?
YESSSSSSSSSSSS.
This is a pretty big issue for me actually.
And not just because it’s really amazing to see what other muses say, think and feel about your muse when they’re not around but because I WANT SOME CONTINUITY. I’m trying to create a continuity for my character where everything that isn’t an AU has feelings and actions making sense depending on a timeline and people they know and love. Actions have consequences. Relationships and events change people. Roleplay without that is… well, repetitive… and not very fulfilling to me.
a lesson in emotions
based off the Glass Heart meme prompt
Ienzo licked his thumb as he flipped through a stack of papers, quietly organizing the copies made for Even’s proposal of improvements to the Garden’s defensive systems. Collate eighteen pages of research and design specifics, attach the budget and resource addendums, staple, and stack. Collate, attach, staple, stack. Collate, attach, staple, stack.
It was tedious. A clerical task that would easily take the good part of an hour. Something anyone could do with minimal direction.
But it would ‘keep him out of trouble.’ Because that was apparently still a concern for the Restoration Committee. So he took the formidable stack of papers to the library and set them out in order, resigning himself to stapling well into lunchtime.
He muttered as one finger came away with a visible papercut, pinching the tiny wound shut. He probably should have brought a box of bandages.

It had been a while since Kairi had decided to check on the apprentices. She had been avoiding this particular duty because of how things had gone the last few times she had seen Ienzo. No matter what she did, they never seemed to even stay civil for more than a few minutes. But even if that was the case, she still had to face it eventually. Most the apprentices didn’t have much trouble speaking with her, and while she could have just asked the others about him, Kairi decided facing him would be the better plan. She had another idea of how they could maybe at least try to coexist. Things always seemed to go wrong when she talked to him-- with Ienzo either becoming annoyed by her words, or by turning them back on her and picking fights. Kairi decided Ienzo wouldn’t be able to throw silence back at her. Kairi had wanted to spend more time with the books in the library, and had finished her missions for the day. A few hours reading in silence wouldn’t hurt. She found herself in the library before too long, peaking around bookcases briefly to get sight of Ienzo before disappearing into the stacks to find something to read. She sat herself by a window once she found a book, and didn’t offer Ienzo a greeting or another glance.
@kh-worldsconnected I’m partnered with @3ternal3nigma and you can find their fic here My artwork for kh-worldsconnected! :) Kairi and Ienzo meet in a familiar place.

Meeting Amends
Kairi still wasn’t sure her plan was a good idea. She had spoken with both of them a few times, and although Ienzo was reluctant, she had promised Elliot wouldn’t hurt him. Kairi had told stories about how she met Elliot, how long she’d known him-- answered any questions Ienzo had, really, since he had a lot. It was maybe closer to an interrogation than a proper conversation, but she understood why. It almost felt cruel to make them meet, but at the same time they both had so many unresolved issues with each other. It would probably do them at least both some good to confront the situation they had been placed into those few years ago. And so Kairi stood at the entrance to the tower, showing Elliot inside, and hoping the smell of cookies was enough to keep Ienzo calm when Elliot’s scent entered the tower.
Her hand combed through his bangs, and he stiffened, hands almost reaching to push her away. He stopped himself, letting her touch him. They had no contact for the last year or so. He had to expect this. She would not hurt him–he knew that. Reason, and their history, told him that. His heart, however, needed to relearn. Like Kairi said: again.
There he went again–flinching when her hands touched his. They shouldn’t, but they did. He had memories of them being closer, holding one another; she talked about him smiling before, and he remembered. How was he supposed to work up to that when basic human contact made him flinch? She would help again, and have her work cut out for her. When he didn’t feel numb, his emotions overwhelmed him. Gone were the days of compartmentalization. How the hell did he do it before?
He winced aloud as she mentioned Aeleus. Couldn’t talk to him. Couldn’t be in the same room. If he thought too much about it, he’d lose the numbness. He destroyed everything, and their battle wouldn’t leave his mind.
Thankfully, Kairi found a different topic for him to focus on: location. Where would he want to go. What did he like? At first, when he thought of running, he had no location in mind. He would run until he found a bearable world, and stay put for a while. Kairi, though, asked more specific questions. He began thinking as she addressed his last concern: that issue of her deserving more.
They spoke like this before. She told him something like this once when he broke down, and told her he was nothing. To her, he was enough. He wondered if she knew how much it meant to hear that phrase–to be reminded again. Kairi said it without strings attached. Xehanort had not.
“I need a place where there are no people nearby,” he answered after she finished, “Or, at least they are far away enough that they are not a concern in case I… lose control, or something to that equivalent.” He sighed. She undoubtedly did not like the thought of even more collateral damage. “I also prefer that for my senses. I tend to like mountains, I suppose. And thank you. I know this means tearing you away from your friends, but I appreciate it nonetheless.”
It hurt when Kairi saw Ienzo flinch. He hadn't liked her touching him much since he got back, and that hadn't changed. For a bit today, he hadn't reacted to her at all. Ienzo wasn't going to leave now, so she didn't have to cling on to him like he'd fade away if she let go. Even if part of her was still anxious, she didn't want to make him unnecessarily uncomfortable.
The wince upon mentioning Aeleus was expected. Their battle hadn't been kind to either of them, Aeleus had been the reason Ienzo was in the hospital. And what Ienzo had done to Aeleus... It would be some time before they could talk properly with one another again. She wouldn't push that topic, it was one of the things that made Ienzo actually respond to emotion, but it was too strong for him to handle at once.
"I figured as much." She nodded once, listening to the rest of his criteria. It wasn't much, really. "I understand. We'll look for mountains, and that'll make finding snow easier, too. We'll see what you like the most." It would be a while before they settled anywhere-- Kairi would have to make sure they brought plenty of munny for supplies, and maybe sleeping bags. Hopefully it wouldn't be more than a week or two of searching.
She had let go of him by now, let her hands clasp in front of her as her fingers nervously twined and squeezed her hands together. "It's okay. They're still doing patrol and stuff anyway, so I only see them part of the day as is. It might be... good for me to learn to be away from them for periods of time without thinking about the whole... abandonment thing." She looked away herself now, sighing. She hadn't really meant to tell him about that right now. "I can call them on gummiship comms if I miss them enough."
There was one more thing Kairi wanted to ask about. "...Ienzo, do you think it'd make you less anxious to have your magic locked up for now? It might mean you won't be able to use corridors and stuff, but...It'll let you get control of other stuff back first. Yen Sid mentioned he could do that the first time you came here, and in passing when you came back, but left the choice up to me, I... think the choice should be yours. It doesn't have to be forever, so... What do you think?"
