Jonathan smiled a little more when she smiled, and turned just the lightest shade of pink. If that was the look she got when he kissed her, he might do it over and over again. He cleared his throat though as he shifted where he stood, rocking back and forth on his feet a little, “Ah, I would’t have missed it,” He shook his head and shrugged a shoulder.

He shoved his hands deeper into his pockets, clearing his throat. “So uhm….we’re still under the mistletoe..” Was there a rule for the Christmas tradition. He removed one of his hands and leaned forward again, his hand cupping the side of her face as he kissed her for the second time under the plant. This one was slower, more passionate than the last. He sighed against her cheek through his nose before he pulled back. “Sorry..” he gave a small breathy laugh.

She looked up to the mistletoe for a second before he had kissed her again. She returned the kiss, and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. She was glad that Mike hadn’t been around. She knew that he would just tease her about it and ask a lot of questions.

“You don’t have to apologise,” she assured him and moved her hands to take his. “I actually quite liked it.” She just smiled, and blushed slightly, looking down and hiding behind her hair.

Jonathan and his family had been invited over to the Wheeler’s for Christmas. He hadn’t wanted to go. Big parties made him uncomfortable, but his mother and Hopper had convinced him to go. ‘Will is going, and so am I’ Joyce had said. ‘It’s Nancy’s house, are you crazy?’ was Hopper’s answer. So he stood in the Wheeler’s house, his hands deep in his pockets, dressed in new jeans, his Chucks and a festive red and green plaid shirt.

When he heard someone come up to him he smiled at the realization that it was Nancy. He stood up a little straighter, “Hey,” he said quietly. His heart jumped up into his throat when she mentioned the mistletoe, his eyes flicking up to it as well. “Yeah….it is,” he whispered. In a moment he leaned forward and kissed her quickly, pecking her lips gently before he pulled back and turned red as the berries on the sprig above them.

She was glad that Jonathan had come. It gave her someone to speak to other than some of Mike’s friends. While she still thought that they could be sweet, she never knew what they were speaking about when they got onto the subject of films. She would just lose interest and go and see if there was something else she could do.

The kiss had been quick but, she still liked it and she felt a smile pull at her lips. She tried not to blush too much, and she just looked at him from behind her hair. “I know that this kind of setting isn’t really your thing. I’m glad that you’re here though.”

Her parents had insisted on some kind of Christmas party, and Nancy thought that it would only be fair if she invited some of her friends, seeing as Mike got to invite all of his friends over. It was one of the only times that her family were actually social, and while most of the time she did try and distance herself from them, she did enjoy the Christmas season.

What she hadn’t known was that someone had put up mistletoe. She had suspected that it was Mike but, she didn’t question it. Until she was stood underneath it, next to Jonathan. She looked up to it, and then to Jonathan with a shy smile.

“Mistletoe.”

“You’re sweet Dustin,” she sniffs slightly and just shrugs a little. “It’s not really something that anyone can help with though.”

Eleven looked up at the eldest of the Wheeler siblings with a sour face that wasn’t directed towards her. Mike had recently been spotted skateboarding with Max again this week, much to El’s acrimoniousness.

“He’s fond of Mad Max, too.” She spat bitterly, not fully understanding that Mad Max isn’t Max’s real name.

Nancy knew about Max and knew that she was more friendly with Dustin and Lucas. She hadn’t really heard Mike speak about her all that much.She watched Eleven for a couple of seconds and nodded once.

“I don’t think you have to worry about that. Mike doesn’t like her in that way. It’s Dustin and Lucas who like her more than a friend.”
