Rummu, with its clear waters and one of a kind environment, attracts both national and international audiences . One could compare the sunken prison ruins with an underwater museum that is simply asking for a more comprehensive exhibition. The artists believe that water will create a new context for their creation, challenge their installing and visualizing skills as well as expand immensely the whole art experience. Exhibition concept: u n d e r t h e w a t e r o n t h e m o o n is an image, a concept of a similar vibration frequency that one would encounter either at the bottom of water or in deep space. Loneliness, silence, blurring of the concept of time, strange light - this is how artists and freedivers Maarja Mäemets and Rait Lõhmus would explain their descent into the depths of water. Added to this is a special all-encompassing experience that seems as impossible to describe as a trip to the Moon. u n d e r t h e w a t e r o n t h e m o o n in Rummu quarry is artists' first major location-specific exhibition, where installations of glass, concrete and ready-made objects are exhibited. Mäemets and Lõhmus have created installations on the sunken territory of the former Rummu prison that speak of loneliness not only through the surroundings but also through one's inner journey. The thought of hours, days, years locked behind prison walls seems as strange of a journey as descending underwater or a flight to the moon. under W from the underwater series approx. h 470 mm, Ø 135 mm 2018 freeblown organic vessels made during an artist-in-residence program at The Glass Factory Boda, Sweden The experimental series of vases titled under W is a third author's series inspired by the depths of water, where glass plays an important role in a narrative that takes place both under and above the water. Glass, having changing characteristics and moods like the author herself, reveals its wild nature this time. Each organic piece has been freeblown, which makes them unique and self-contained, as if they were pulled out of the water depths just a minute ago. Glassblowers: Bjørn Friborg, Mikael Jacobsson

i walk through walls video installation from the exhibition series I SPY with my little eye 2017/2018 The video installation i walk through walls is a fragment of a fictional factory that produces only sadness. This factory is not physical, but operates 24 hours a day and rarely rests. The mechanism is so reliable that the factory's existence seems to last forever. Faced with the question of what a sadness factory looks like from the inside, the artist tries to give one possible answer through a moving visual accompanied by the song "How to disappear completely" (in slow motion). A sad visual moving from indoors to outdoors absorbs the viewer in its dark yet beautiful layers. Just like a sadness factory that is constantly producing and operating, taking in ever larger areas. i walk through walls was displayed as a site-specific installation in two different exhibition spaces: Polymer A korpus (I Spy With My Little Eye) and EKA Gallery (I Spy With My Little Eye 2). Thank You Andra Jõgis, Niina-Anneli Kaarnamo
sadness factory from the underwater series freeblown glass, moldblown glass, site-specific photography, video 2017 sadness factory is a multimedia project that combines glass art with underwater photography, video and installation. sadness factory is a narrative created by the artist, where events take place both under as above the water and where everything is moving towards a seeming chaos, but no one knows what happens next. Inspired by the topic of mental illness, it's a factory that doesn't exist for the human eye, but where there is constant producing and growing of sadness. “Motive: drowning. This excellent factory I have built, slowly and carefully – the victory is yours. So pull us both now underwater. I am dead-tired of this endless drifting.” Being a hobby freediver together with his boyfriend and glass artist Rait Lõhmus, Maarja Mäemets has been experimenting with underwater photography for the last few years. From the solitude and remoteness found underwater, the artist finds it to be the best place to exhibit her current work as a glass artist but also an artist in whole. The series consists of different glass pieces drowned in Rummu Quarry, Estonia and on Krk island, Croatia sadness factory was displayed at the ”Stanislav Libensky Award 2018” exhibition in Prague, Czech Republic Video editing: Rait Lõhmus
