THE PAST
"born" an unaltered clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett and raised as the man's son, boba spent the first ten years of his life nurtured by Jango's affection and particular brand of training. encouraged and uplifted, boba began life believing there was nothing he couldn't face so long as he had his father to guide him.
his happiness is prematurely cut short by his father's death, and he spends the rest of his childhood both trying to make a name for himself and seeking vengeance for his stolen joy.
by the time the then-newly coined empire is settled in its power, boba is already well-known throughout the galaxy as an infamous bounty hunter whose skills are well worth the heavy price tag, and he spends many years proving himself indispensable to the clients who can afford his work.
like all things that seem too good to be true, even this eventually comes to a temporary but harsh end in the belly of a sarlacc. as has been the case since childhood, boba refuses to go down without a fight, and though he emerges victorious from the embers of the creature's still-burning body, he is a changed man- armorless and scarred and missing half his left leg from the knee down, he learns to tread the galaxy with a new view.
where before he had been all sharp edges and no-nonsense, with little room in his life for other people, he grows more humble. not softened, exactly, but as if his once-thick exterior has been smoothed down with sandpaper, revealing a man far more inclined to bouts of a gruff sort of kindness than he used to be.
after a long, painful recovery from his stint in the sarlacc, boba sets out to get back the armor he'd inherited from his father. this task proves to be a difficult one, as the armor slipped from one hand to another, but after roughly 6 years of trying boba finally finds it in the Mandalorian Din Djarin's care after the fellow bounty hunter removed the set from Cobb Vanth's possession.
in return for reuniting him with his armor, boba vows to help Din get his recently kidnapped son, Grogu, back from the imperial who took him. boba isn't fully present for the rescue, but he hears about things after the fact and is, above all else, concerned and morbidly intrigued. upon learning that a jedi showed up shortly after Din got his son back, with the intent to take his jet'ika and train him, and that Din and his little one vanished into thin air in front of everyone's eyes, boba spends the next couple of years exhausting every connection he has and scouring the galaxy for clues of his (tentative) vod's disappearance, with the intent to bring the pair home safely.
he gains very little understanding in his search, but one day, seemingly randomly, he goes from sitting in his office, poring over stacks of flimsi notes, to suddenly standing on an unfamiliar city's sidewalk. once again, he finds himself with nothing more than what he has on his person and even more questions than answers, but he's nothing if not resilient, and immediately sets to figuring out just what karking shenanigans the universe has seen fit to drop him in this time.
THE PRESENT
dropped smack-dab in the middle of a bustling Naboo street (though he doesn't initially know this is where he is) boba is both glad he was wearing the entirety of his armor when this nonsense happened, but also very much unnerved at being surrounded by so many apprehensive stares. sure, he's used to people being afraid of him, had in fact made a vast portion of his life made up of the fact that his very presence could scare people. but this is different. he's alone and confused, and just once would like the world to maybe give him a break for a change.
what will he make of this new, awkward situation? only time will tell...
PERSONALITY
boba can seem somewhat gruff upon first meeting him, and while he has definitely spent most of his life keeping people at arm's length and is not above making threats, in the years since his time in the sarlacc he's mellowed out greatly compared to the volatile persona of his youth. he no longer feels the need to prove himself at every turn, and has, in some ways, developed his own strong code of honor. once he considers someone a friend he is unswervingly loyal, and depending on the person sometimes attaining that status simply requires showing him common decency and respect- something he's generally had a lack of in his life.
he is still occasionally quick to anger, but only when specific boundaries are pushed or crossed; namely, insulting his father or implying he's less of a person for having been born a clone.
he still puts on a strong, independent front, but underneath his thick skin, he's simply a man who's been alone for far too long and appreciates opportunities for companionship when he can find them.
