Magick Tip: Quick Pranayama Guide
Pranayama is an amazing way to exercise the energy flow within your body. It helps you increase the amount of prana/chi/energy that your body can hold, as well as teaches you how to control it with your Will/Intent. (Also it works better than coffee in the morning, do 15 minutes right after waking up and you’ll feel like you’ve been awake for hours).
Sit in your meditative posture, make sure that your back is straight. Plug one nostril and breathe in for 10 seconds, then breathe out for 20 seconds. After you do a breath cycle with one nostril, switch the nostrils and repeat. Visualize energy going up your spine as you breath in, and moving down your spine when you breathe out. Strive for depth, fullness, and regularity of breathing. When you can do 10-20 with relative ease for 30-60 minutes then increase difficulty: - Move onto 15 seconds breathe in, 30 seconds breathe out - Then to 15 seconds in, 15 seconds hold breath in, 15 seconds breathe out. When you’re holding the breath in, visualize the energy radiating in your head. - Then 20 seconds in, 40 seconds out - Then 10 seconds in, 30 hold breath, and 20 breathe out
Tips: - Use your diaphragm, make sure that the part of the belly which takes breath is being emptied out and filled back up with air. - Breath fully out, don’t leave any air in; and fully in, don’t leave any unused room. This will prevent shortness of breath. - Sweating, shaking, trembling are all common. Practice improves the smoothness of the flow and rhythm. - If you’ve eaten heavily this becomes much more difficult.
1. Ground your attention on yourself. Be conscious at every moment of what you are thinking, sensing, feeling, desiring, and doing. 2. Always finish what you have begun. 3. Whatever you are doing, do it as well as possible. 4. Do not become attached to anything that can destroy you in the course of time. 5. Develop your generosity ‒ but secretly. 6. Treat everyone as if he or she was a close relative. 7. Organize what you have disorganized. 8. Learn to receive and give thanks for every gift. 9. Stop defining yourself. 10. Do not lie or steal, for you lie to yourself and steal from yourself. 11. Help your neighbor, but do not make him dependent. 12. Do not encourage others to imitate you. 13. Make work plans and accomplish them. 14. Do not take up too much space. 15. Make no useless movements or sounds. 16. If you lack faith, pretend to have it. 17. Do not allow yourself to be impressed by strong personalities. 18. Do not regard anyone or anything as your possession. 19. Share fairly. 20. Do not seduce.
