White privilege.

I grew up in LA with junkie parents. I’ve been homeless, on food stamps and gotten free school lunch. But because I’m white, people are surprised by this. Because I’m white, upward mobility was possible.

It is a rigged system, with imbalanced expectations and opportunities. I’m not saying it’s easy because I’m white, but I’m saying that being a white, straight, unidentifiable ethnicity woman made it far more possible. I don’t know how to make it more fair, but recognizing it is a start, or something?

Oh god, I love Lipstick Homicide. They never put on a bad show. And, this is sort of an awkward thing to say, but I love the fact that they're not a riot grrrl band, they're not a queercore band, they're a punk band. And they are amazing.

Okay

I'm retiring for a bit.  I actually have been going out and taking pictures of stuff, but I'm not especially inspired to write about them.  I'm looking at pretty much the same clothes over and over, so I guess I've succeeded in my goal of establishing a style.  Also, every time I go look at clothes, I want to buy something, and I just can't afford to.  I have some clothes now, that I've bought or made, and now I need to lay low for a bit.  Maybe I'll come back to this in a little while, but for now I'm setting it aside.

I'm back!

That was longer than I thought it would be, but since I decided to move to a once a week thing, I figured I could start at the end of the week instead of the beginning.  

Here is day Whatever, I've kind of stopped keeping track.  Ross, my own top and trying on the skirt and the jacket.  The skirt was acceptable, and I might have bought it if I'd needed it.  The jacket was very entertaining.  It was fleece, like a hoodie, but cut almost exactly like a motorcycle jacket.  I considered buying it, since my actual real leather motorcycle jacket weighs about thirty pounds, but at the same time it looked like baby clothes, like the PlaySkool version of a motorcycle jacket.  I could not even take myself seriously for the three minutes I was wearing it in the dressing room.  

Also, I tried on several Calvin Klien dresses that I was expecting to be too small (because I've discovered the nicer the clothes are, the smaller they fit), but they seriously fit like tents.  Who knew?
