the unimaginable power of saying "huh, guess that's not for me" and moving on with your life
this is one of the more creative hate comments i've seen and i felt the need to immortalize it
I try my best to explain whatâs going on here, but in all honesty Iâm probably a little too riled up still.
Iâm trying to figure out what I can do - I may just pick a couple countries that I sell the most to, and get how ever many packing licenses I can afford. So far I have one already for Germany and I donât need one in Austria since Iâm here and only a micro business. Itâs all just so frustrating.
This goes into effect on the 12th and any orders placed this weekend will ship out on Monday or Tuesday (before the deadline).
And hereâs my shop in case you want to get something before then.
I may be unable to ship to the EU now.
Stop destroying EU micro-businesses: Immediate moratorium on cross-border EPR fees
There's currently a petition going on trying to stop the decision. Not sure how much can be done until the deadline (12th August), but not trying is also bot an option for me
I think part of getting better is complete ego death. Like youâre not above setting a timer for 5 minutes and focusing on a task. Youâre not above doing a very simple 3 minute workout to start. Youâre not above reading for 10 minutes a day when you first get out of your reading slump, even if you used to read for hours. Youâre not above starting slow and then building up to where you want to be/where you once were. What you are above is total inertia. Doing something really is better than doing nothing. Radically accept where you are, radically accept your limits, and go from there. Donât let your ego get in the way.
Every single fic update there is an author trying frantically to find the right balance between a nonchalant aside of "leave a comment if you enjoyed =)" and clinging desperately to the coat tails of a random stranger, dragging along behind them on the street wailing "Please, please! I have to know what you thought! I'm desperate to talk to people about this! Ask me about the alliterative repetition! Ask me about the symbolism!"
@the-communist-unicorn peak comment
for ppl thinking "But what if I don't know what to comment!" do a live reaction. open a second tab and whenever you have A Reactionâ˘ď¸ to a line or scene, copy the line and type out your reaction, even just a keyboard smash or "this made me forget to breathe" or just "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" works! just any way to let them know how you felt reading it, I don't do it all the time but whenever I do, I get replies from authors being SO happy for a multitude of reasons, and if that's too time consuming just comment ur general feeling about the chapter!! we love it no matter how small the comment i PROMISE

I think about this cake every day
sorry for exposing your tags but this is hilarious
OP, I hope you donât mind me making an addition:
When I turned 17, we ordered a cake at the grocery store for my party, as weâd done many times before. If you wanted something written on the cake youâd write it into a section of the order form. We requested, very simply, âHappy Birthday Courtneyâ. When we went to pick it up the day of the party, this is what we got.
The bakery employees had absolutely no explanation for this. The order form, attached to the box, very clearly did not contain any of those extra names. Whomever had done the writing was no longer in, so there was no one to ask how this had happened. The fact that the name âJuanâ is misspelled bewilders me to this day. (Iâve never seen âMileyâ without the E, either, but itâs believable that someone might spell it that way.) Did this cake slip in from an alternate universe where Iâm one quarter of a set of Hispanic quadruplets? Dyslexic Hispanic quadruplets, maybe?
This cake became the focal point of my party. At least two of my friends regularly called me âCourtney Mily Jaun Pabloâ for years to come. My siblings and I still reference it sometimes, eleven years later. It is probably the funniest thing ever to occur at any birthday celebration of my life, and may well remain so for the rest of my days.
I love a botched cake.
one time me and some pals spotted one of those big cookie cakes in a store. it was done up with red icing and little X's for kisses and in the middle it said
No One Like You
now, it took us a while to realise it meant "(there is) no one like you". at first, we all parsed it as a botched "no one like(s) you"
for ages after when we'd wind each other up we'd declare "NO ONE LIKE YOU âšď¸đ"
I just feel like it's important to post the Sacred Texts
The Cake Wrecks blog is one that I miss.
Did you know? That the back is made up of terrible and evil muscles that are only waiting for their chance to betray you
They're sensitive!
Salem's city council voted unanimously to pursue a data center moratorium after residents - and a guillotine - pushed back on a $5.1 billion
they were playing bella ciao on a loud speaker while pulling the guillotine around by a bicycle. it obviously wasnât a working one, just a prop somebody made themselves, but whatever works i guess.
They need to be reminded that voting & protest is the polite alternative to guillotines.
Except, critically, at bedtime.
Ravings and urges get miscoded over time. Letâs say youâre thirsty, and you live in a strawberry field. Strawberries contain some water and a bunch of sugar so, over time, you may start to crave strawberries when you are thirsty because you get a reward and some relief in shorter time from the need starting than the trek to the stream. This can happen for every need: sleep, food, whatever.
Trevor Noah has a great tip, that when he craves ice cream at night he breaks it down into parts: I want something cold, I want something sweet. He drinks a glass of cold water then waits to see if he still has the ice cream craving. Usually he doesnât.
So listening to your body isnât âfollow every urgeâ but âdecompose the urge to discover the underlying need.â
If you always feel like getting cozy in bed you may be: cold, dehydrated, and/or malnourished (maybe a need for high calories that are bioaccessibleâŚnot processed).
If you do not feel tired at bedtime you may: need to eat dinner earlier because your body is still digesting, need to exercise or go outside more during the day, get the fuck off your screen for an hour so your brain can enter sleep mode.
Hope this helps someone.
P.S. notice i said nothing about neurodivergence. Not that itâs not a likelihood but the over-pathologization of behaviors prevents us from taking simple actions to improve our wellbeing. Also, these tips are pretty accessible and applicable to most brain variations.
legitimately the funniest transition scene in Project Hail Mary:
[ID: Grace is looking at his whiteboard, where he's written "who would you die for?" Then the computer alerts him to movement at the airlock, he rushes to open the airlock, and Rocky is there in his ball. Rocky waves and says "Hi, Grace." End ID.]
