One reason I never settled for Christianity was my learning of some  early gnostics who either believed that SATAN wormed his way into being the one worshiped by the Church or that the serpent was the good guy all along. I don’t remember the details (it’s been 20 years) but the risk that the god of Christianity is a huge bad guy was too high for me. With paganism Odin is at least known for his shenanigans.

I deeply appreciate the distinction between a Jewish G-d and an xtian one. Cause yeah, the very concepts for what G-d is differs greatly between the two religions. Hashem is way more chill about the whole thing than the xtian god. s'why I really hate terms like "Judeo-Christian" most of the time ppl just mean xtian but they wanna sound ~intellectual~ when instead they're just wrong and antisemitic

Quite frankly, he seems to admire your G-d. A focus on knowledge and learning and even arguing with the divine? That’s the sort of thing he finds admirable. I think there’s a touch of sympathy there for the absolute shit way y’all have been treated there too, as well as a bit of admiration for the fact that y’all refused to give up your ways and endured through it all, and are STILL enduring, to boot. 

Add in the fact that your G-d doesn’t do the ‘convert or die’ thing, but wants people to CHOOSE to follow Him, and simply wants you to keep a covenant to follow His rules and follow no OTHER gods (not saying there aren’t any, just that you choose to follow HIM!) and that’s the sorta thing that Odin, who honestly doesn’t care if you follow other gods but does want his followers to CHOOSE to follow him, not be forced to, quite appreciates.

This is all absolutely fascinating, I love this viewpoint. Deities having awareness and opinions on one another, even across different pantheons/religious sects. Fun trivia, early Hebrew religions were originally polytheistic! Likely monotheism was pushed as a political movement to unify the people as a nation, but we don't have a ton of extant writings from that time. Over time that evolved into Rabbinic Judaism as we know it now. Very simplified history lesson, but one I think about often.

Ah, I didn’t know that the early Hebrew religions were polytheistic! Makes sense now that I think about it, of course, but it is obvious in hindsight. 

It would be interesting to be able to see more writings from that time, a shame there aren’t many. 

And also, I mean, it makes sense that one god would be aware of others, but I hadn’t considered it either until Odin spoke on it. It surprised me the first time, but in hindsight it’s also obvious that powers like that would be aware of each other and have opinions on each other.
