people I was in youtube and ran into this video and remeber POSE, que buena serie POSE, recommended
I just finished watching Pose last night and that series finale destroyed me (in such a good way)!!
This show was so incredible, I don’t know why it’s not talked about everywhere, all the time!
It’s got everything: glamour, drama, humor, heartbreak, romance, amazing music and dancing, incredible costumes and make up, beautiful complex portrayals of black and latinx queer and trans people and NYC ballroom culture, social commentary, wonderful portrayal of how the AIDS epidemic did so much harm but the community was so resilient and fought so hard against the government’s callous attitude towards LGBTQ deaths, beautiful depictions of sisterhood between black and latina trans women played by amazing trans women actors, depictions of bias and racial and class divisions and transphobia within the queer community, some of the best actually diverse representation of New York City (seriously, why are so many shows and movies set in one of the most diverse cities in the world so white??), incredible AfroLatinx representation, and just such good writing and so many complex and complicated characters who are flawed and fabulous and so very human! This show made me cry and laugh and feel good about humanity!
Please, everyone go watch Pose!! Especially now in this era of renewed heightened transphobia and homophobia, this show should be required viewing!
And the entire ensemble cast is fantastic!!
Now I really want to go rewatch Paris is Burning, which was clearly a huge inspiration for Pose. The show even used quotes and had cameos from some of the real ballroom culture folks featured in Paris is Burning 💖
