Why am I here?
The gem mused to herself, a bit bitterly, and glanced around with apparent disinterest. Her slim, blue fingers played with the straps that connected the lower half of her dress to the rest, but she wasn’t aware she was doing it.
Approaching the bowls of colorful liquids, she glanced at someone nearby, and decided to speak up.
“These kind of smell like poison to me.”
She wouldn’t really know what the point of drinking alcohol was, considering the short amount of time she had spent on Earth.

After rejecting a dance with a few strange looking spirits that appeared to be neither here nor there, she took a few steps back, weary of the musical sprites. It was like they were corrupted gems, longing to touch something real, and that made her very uneasy.
“What are those?”
She realized she had asked that aloud before really thinking about it, glancing at the woman nearby. Hopefully she wasn’t one of them.

She was pulled along, unwillingly, with the music- as her species was very influenced by the sounds and vibrations that created and controlled their inner core. It was a strange feeling, and after just a sip of a sickly, sweet syrup, the blue woman was feeling rather funny.
Stumbling out of the dancing circle that had formed, she leaned up against a nearby table, letting a shaky sigh leave her lips. Lapis wasn’t sure if she was happy she had come, but the light within her was singing with joy. It was almost too much.
She took a step forward and nearly ran into someone she didn’t recognize.
“Oh- sorry...” She paused, taking a closer look. Wow, whoever this human was, she was beautiful. “Um.”
How do humans interact again? If everything stopped spinning, maybe she could remember.

After greedily drinking as much of the strange juice offered up as possible, the gem felt pretty great- or, at least, she thought she did. She never had anything like it from her Homeworld, nor did she have anything like these drinks on Earth either.
“What is this stuff?”
She swirled the cup around and stared at it intensely, trying to control the liquid- but finding that her powers still do not work. She didn’t really realize she was standing rather close to someone, probably invading their personal space.

There was a lot of food. A lot. And Lapis isn’t exactly accustomed to eating at all, considering she is a gem and her body is basically a physical projection of what she thinks she should look like. Despite not needing it, she was growing curious, as the strange delights on the table were fascinating to look at.
Unused to customs or manners, considering she doesn’t know any, she simply plucked a piece of food off of someone’s plate.
“This tastes... strange.”

Azure orbs grazed over the participants of the ball, analyzing them quietly and with a hint of boredom. It wasn’t that she came because she thought she would have fun, but she showed up in hopes of finding someone familiar. Maybe then she could figure out how she ended up here in the first place, considering she had just arrived in Citta not that long ago.
Her gaze drifted until it landed on a strange looking being- and not strange in the way that makes your skin crawl, but the kind that makes your eyes widen with wonder. She approached her quickly, blue fingertips lightly brushing against her arm to get her attention.
“Have we met before?”

Lazuli had just finished stuffing her face with food. Food that she didn’t need, not even a little, but she had left that restriction far behind. Grabbing more of the small, pink candies, she turned around in an attempt to hide her gluttony- only to run straight into someone. Dropping most of what she was holding, she quickly finished chewing and narrowed her eyes at the guy.
“...” She didn’t say anything, but just stood there, upset over the spilled food and unsure how to respond considering she had ran into him.

The gemstone felt the ripples of her own dress, seemingly lost in the blue patterns that had been carefully stitched along the cloth. It reminded her of the oceans of Homeworld, something that she used to think upon fondly before the War. But she didn’t dwell on that now and instead glanced up, hoping to see someone she knew. At the moment, she had a few drinks, and felt more relaxed than usual. Maybe she could have a good time after all.
“Muffet?”
Noticing a familiar face, she smiled and went up to her with enthusiasm, a noticeable change from her completely sober self. Alas, the poor gem didn’t even know she had been drinking tainted punch, unaware of common information such as that.
“You look great.”

Twirling around in her dress, the gem had let go of her inhibitions with the intention of feeling disconnected from reality. It was working rather well and the punch certainly helped. Her bare feet touched the ground with rhythm, and yet without sound, her steps light and easy, The gemstone on her back glistened under the lights as the vibrations of the melody ran through her core. It felt familiar... like home.
She abruptly stopped her mesmerizing movements in front of a man, her gaze narrowing into obsidian slits.
“Um.” She wasn’t sure why, but she briefly thought she had recognized the guy. Realizing she didn’t, the blue gem stood there rather awkwardly- staring at the human. Deciding to be sure, and with a dizzy head, she spoke up. “Have we met before?”

The lithe figure found herself swaying to the music, toes curling and uncurling with the indecision of movement. Should she dance? And if she does, would it be stupid to dance alone? She didn’t want to be swept away by the strange spirits that seemed to linger and whisper among themselves, eyeing her up as if she belonged with them. The gemstone certainly didn’t and she really wanted nothing to do with them.
Glancing at a nearby man, who she decided was human, Lazuli stepped towards him and held out her hand in a begrudging manner.
“Do you.. want to dance?”

The blue gem sighed and managed to hide herself between a couple tables, going by unnoticed as she nibbled on the bizarre food presented to her. She was really wondering if she should be here anymore, and was constantly shifting from having great fun to wanting to crawl out of her own skin. It was a peculiar sensation and it persisted.
When she finally decided to move from her spot, she ran into a girl. Apparently unable to stop her clumsiness tonight, she rubbed her temples, annoyed with herself.
“Sorry.”
Like this for a starter. Here is what she is wearing.

The two had met and bonded over the color blue.
Why? Well that much was obvious, but despite Lapis’ tough exterior, the gem was much softer and kinder once relaxed and used to a certain persons company. Aqua, of course, hadn’t minded it at all. They met on the train that rode between each sector, searching for sleep when it hadn’t come, and made it a habit from then on out. Though Aqua didn’t know much about Lapis and where her home was outside of Hive City, she enjoyed the gems company nonetheless.
Though, she had heard about District Alpha, which seemed like a terrible place. Lapis was indifferent toward it.
Still, there were nights where the two barely clung to consciousness, sleep catching up all too quickly. The rocking of the cars, the pattern-like sounds coming from the trains wheels on the tracks, was soothing to the both of them. Lapis had let out a yawn, eyes heavy before drooping completely shut. She had said once gems didn’t need things like sleep, but treated it as a luxury. Perhaps the scientists took that away, or, maybe Lapis finally felt comfortable and safe enough to rest.
A few bumps and sways later, a soft pressure hit Aqua’s shoulder. Upon looking over and seeing tufts of fluffy blue hair, a small smile came upon her lips. She was really out. Raising a gloved hand, Aqua gently pet the gems hair, soothing any scrunches that appears on Lapis’ nose or forehead. Unintentionally, the keyblade wielder let out a yawn as well, blinks becoming longer, heavier. With a small sigh she leaned back, cheek pressed to her friends soft azure hair. They were still in sector 004, and Aqua had her new cellphone set with an alarm.
She dozed off. Later Aqua would carry Lapis to her own apartment, where it was safer and less dark than the district beneath, and lend the gem her bed.
