Tips on keeping safe and cool this summer!
~Drink lots of cold water! You should aim to drink 1.5-2 litres of water a day, this is about 6-8 cups a day. I've found that a fun water bottle helps me keep up on this, especially a cup with a straw! I have an Owala water bottle and I love it! ^^
~Bring a mini fan with you when you go out, I have a cute pink fan that I bring in my bag on hot days to keep myself cool!
~Ice lollies or ice creams are also good ways of cooling you down! I always have different flavoured ice lollies in my freezer as a sweet treat
~Even if you don't think you need it, wear suncream! Sunburn isn't nice and it hurts :( A good tip for if you have sensory issues or just don't like the feel of suncream, try out a spray suncream! They're a lot less tacky and I find I can barely feel it on my skin, remember to reapply every 4ish hours and if you need to, set a reminder on your phone
~Try to take regular breaks from the sun if you can. After being in the sun for a while I like to try to find a nice spot in the shade to cool down a little before going back to playing in the sun! If you can't or don't want to take a break thats perfectly okay, just make sure you're not getting too warm :D
~Have a cool shower or bath, this always helps me to cool down, especially if I'm struggling with just a fan! Getting in a cool bath with some toys after a long day is so fun and helps with temperature regulation
~If you're struggling to sleep because of the heat, wear some thin pyjamas, bonus points if they're shorts. Get some thinner blankets and take your comforter/quilt off your bed, I also find that cotton sheets keep me much cooler!
