Tbh I've seen a lot of people saying they don't like the slow pace of Graduation so far, and I do understand wanting to get to the plot, but just for my personal tastes I think it's been so nice? It's partly just that I enjoy almost slice-of-life stories in speculative fiction settings, but I also absolutely love the time we've been given to just watch the characters being themselves in relatively low-stakes settings, so that we know how they are before we get into the Drama that's going to change them. Not to mention that it almost feels like we're discovering this school and its students at the same time that they are.
So far, imo, it's sort of striking a happy medium between the pacing of Balance (which, while hilarious from day 1, could also be abysmally slow and directionless--remember when it took three eps inside a bank before we met the antagonist of PTTM?) and the pacing of Amnesty (which I've said before was too fast to allow for good character moments on the regular). Travis is certainly taking his time and letting character actions develop pretty organically, I think, but the episodes also feel very...well, episodic, in the sense that the characters are given clear goals and minor conflicts often get resolved in the same episode. Plus, we keep getting hints about something bigger going on without it being in our faces yet.
Idk I just think Graduation's neat so far thanks for coming to my TED talk.
i drew a scene from @theadventurezone because I love it a lot
(i had to break the image up because tumblr hates long comics!!!)
