Get Rid of Your Stuff

Getting rid of things is hard. Here's how I'm trying to do it.

Week 32: August 13

Simple week. 

Bought a new speaker, got rid of broken one (new speaker not pictured out of laziness).

Said goodbye to a dog sweater and a never worn scarf.

Also got rid of my old Iphone holder because it doesn’t fit my new phone (and yes- I exchanged out my old phone for a new phone).

PS- because I’m almost at a point where I have 100 things less than when I started, I’m going to aim for 150 things now! Let’s see how that goes!

Week 31: August 6

I got two shirts, a necklace, and a pair of earrings recently. 4 items. 

I should try to get rid of 6 things this week (even though I have a buffer now, I should still try to get rid of as much as possible!)

Two leggings let go. (Featured above) A necklace and a pair of earrings also let go (featured below).

And two things to make my intake negative..

A little random, but a hook and a “gentle leader” collar that I don’t use anymore since fluff dog is trained to walk nicely now :)

Week 30: July 29

I bought a swimsuit. 

So I got rid of a swimsuit.

A tank top and a brush for my dog.

Week 29: July 22

One of my coworkers gave me a sweet Patagonia jacket!

I’m having trouble picking out a jacket to let go off, but for now, I have this to get rid of:

Week 28: July 15

Remember how a few weeks ago I got rid of highlighters in exchange for shirts? It’s ok, I thought it was lame, too. Here’s three shirts and a pair of undies I have to give away this week!

I’ve got to be careful with this “buffer” I’m making! No absurd spending, friend!

I went to a concert and my aunt bought me a shirt... So I added two items this week.

I’ve been going through school and craft supplies and gathered this to give away.

Two highlighters to cancel my t-shirts and 3 to add to the “give away” thing. I’m lazy today.

Week 25: June 25

Went through a folder and got rid of a bunch of papers...and then the folder itself. I think I only kept one paper from it and it was a flat of stamps...haha.  It still amazes me as to what I choose to hold on to. (This just counts as two)

Week 24: June 18

This week, I tackled a “box”. I know you have them too- boxes full of sentimental items or stuff that you “can’t get rid of”.  I have a few of these and this week I am proud to say I tackled one of them. I had two full boxes of stationary stuff, so I went through both boxes and condensed everything to ONE box. I’m very proud of this accomplishment. I got rid of around 30 items!! They are smaller, but an item is an item! I’m excited. I’ve been carrying these around since highschool and it was time to say goodbye. I finally did it. Things Given Away: 141

Week 23- June 11

I love my mom, but she’s always bringing me stuff when she comes to visit.

This week I acquired the following five items:

So goodbye another dog toy and sudoku book...

Old papers and a folder (counts as 2)

A fidget toy I bought when tutoring.

My brother also got me a sweet apron from Ecuador...

So I got rid of one more thing...a book

And to get rid of more things, I said adios to an old shirt and jeans that no longer fit.

Feels good!

Week 20- May 21

StillI bought 5 things. I thought about scolding myself, but you know, it’s ok to revamp my closet if I’m also giving things away I don’t like.

Here are the 5 things purchased. Some hairbows and a shirt. So, here’s 5 things I got rid of- old tie-dye shirts I wore when I went to Costa Rica for study abroad in 2014. I haven’t touched them since. There were 5 shirts so that worked out well.

I still needed to get rid of two items and I chose these: Dog toys my dog refuses to play with. She’s much better at minimalism than I am. She really only plays with two toys. I’m sure the less fortunate shelter dogs will appreciate it!

Week 18- May 7

In doing this getting rid of stuff thing, I have noticed that I actually do have a small problem with shopping. I definitely impulse buy. I recently bought a shirt and it doesn’t fit me, I’ve held on to it for too long to return it so now I’m giving it away. It’s such a waste, but it’s going to a family that needs shirts for their little boy so it feels very ok to give away. In the past, even in January, I would have had trouble giving it away, but not so much anymore. Weird how things change. Not pictured are flip flops my mom got me for Easter. What is pictured are the too big flip flops that I’m giving away. And also a shirt I’m saying good bye to. You know, this feels better than I thought. Things Given Away: 111

Week 17- April 30

Over Easter, my mom gave me some stuff because she’s my mom and she loves gifts. I enjoyed all the things she got me, but it meant I needed to get rid of more stuff! Some of the things she gave me included three garden tools and a set of gloves. 

I chose to get rid of two test paintings I made and hate. I was testing out some colors and stuff. I don’t like these, I’ll never sell them. So byeee.

Still needed to get rid of four more items so... I said goodbye to three more books...

And a pair of underwear which I will not be featuring :) I got a few more things for Easter, but I am having a bit of trouble giving things away this week, so I’m going to find some more stuff to get rid of next week. Things Given Away: 108 Net Total Given Away: 32 Things To Go: 66

Week 16- April 23

This week I’m throwing away an old notebook full of information I no longer need and a tennis ball for my dog that I’ve been carrying around forever and I don’t know why....my dog never plays with it.  It always astounds me the amount of stuff that I have that I don’t even like around but just never give away...
