Thank you so much for your sweet words; they mean a lot to me and to this project.Well, I've been working on the comic and the characters, but college has made it a little difficult lately.
The Rotten Girls Club is a group based on my elementary and high school experiences. I'm from Mexico, so some elements are inspired by Latin American YouTube culture from around 2014–2020, what many people here call the "golden era" of YouTube, haha. Sam is based on me (yes, the fangirl part too, haha), and the other girls are inspired by friends I had when I was younger.
Another important aspect is that the story explores different types of girls within fandom culture. In Eltingville Club, we mostly see the same type of toxic fan, but here I think there's more variety. For example, there are fans like Liv, who focus all their energy on loving and admiring something, and Mina, who genuinely believes she is part of the thing she admires and becomes obsessed with it.
Each girl has a different personality and attitude, but in the end, they're all toxic in their own way.I've also thought a lot about each girl's family dynamics. I don't think I'll mention most of it in the comic, but it's important for understanding who they are and why they interact with others the way they do. Am I making myself clear?
There are also other details, like their favorite things, dislikes, and personal interests. I included some of those in the first character concepts, haha, but I've changed a few things since then. I think I'd like to make a document or something similar with information about all the girls.
