My top five items on my writing desk
Do you want to know what my top five favorite items are on my writing desk? I will give you an insight into what I live by while I write at my writing station at home. The first item, of course, is a pen, since I handwrite first before typing on my computer. I have a couple of pens in my pen cup in case one of them runs out of ink; I have a pen handy. Some writers start with a computer, but I prefer handwriting first. I prefer the classic black or blue pen to gel pens. I like to stay with the standard ink. The second item on my top five items to have on my writing desk is no other than copy paper. I not only use copy paper for printing, but I also prefer copy paper for writing because it’s plain with no lines, which I feel the lines restricts the flow of my thoughts when I am freewriting. The third item I must have is a water bottle or a cup of water for hydration. Water is not only hydration for your skin and hair but also nourishing for your brain. Writing involves brain power, and water is refreshing, but it also helps provide clarity for your mind. I believe when you’re dehydrated, you can’t really think as clearly as you want or need to when you’re writing. So, it’s important for me to stay hydrated with H20 when I’m writing, especially drafting long chapters for a novel. A cup or bottle of water is on my desk. My fourth item I usually have on my desk, is my headphones. Sometimes, you need a break from writing. In between writing, I put on an instrumental song to listen to between breaks, and then I go back to writing. Lastly, it’s of course my laptop. I can’t live without it. I can’t find a writer who would say otherwise. My laptop is number one because it’s where the manuscript comes alive on the computer screen, where I can make a lot of edits which I can’t do on paper. It is the electronic device that produces my final manuscript on paper when my novel is done and ready for publication. I hoped you enjoyed my top five items on my writing desk!
