Defence Against the Dark Arts - A guide to ethics of hypnosis
The mind. It’s hard to fathom at times that it can be manipulated, gaslit and that any and all will can be stripped from a person, so we say to ourselves a lie, that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. In my studies, I have discovered the opposite is true. You CAN undoubtedly be influenced in ways you are not aware unless you are prepared. This is to help with that. A guide to defense against the dark arts of hypnosis and also, what to look for in an ethical hypnodomme. In this, I will highlight all the tricks to look for.
NLP or Neural Linguistic Programming
So the first trick used a lot, is conversational hypnosis. Hypnosis where hidden suggestions are weaved into a base message that acts as a front to hide certain commands or suggestions eg By my book = Buy my book. Derren Brown has demonstrated it for entertainment on TV. Marketing, Public Relations, Politics. They all use it.
Suggestive Reinforcement or Conditioning
Another tactic used by the media is the reinforcement of various suggestions. Repeat a lie enough, and people will believe it.
Subliminals
Subliminals are hidden layers of audio a hypnotist may mask in order for Hypnosis to have more of an effect on breaking the will of the listener.
Binaural Beats
No science has confirmed if they have an effect on the brain or not, but it is plausible that they can leave a person more suggestible.
Gaslighting
A technique used to alter the memories of someone and better manipulate them. In extreme cases it can effect sanity.
Ethics in Hypnodomme
Used together or alone, these techniques are not always bad, but it is my understanding some will use them without your best interest at heart, and without care, for the real-life effects they can have. Here are the steps to finding an ethical hypnodomme, or being one yourself.
1) Look for and use Consent Warnings
2) Look for and use the transparency of suggestions with no deception to fool one into a false sense of security.
3) Hypnosis should be about what the hypno sub wants out of it, seldom is it EVER what the hypnotist wants out of the subject.
4) If the sub consents to it, then it’s okay. Consensual non-Consent is definitely real.
5) The clear distinction between fantasy and reality.
6) Aftercare is also important. Avoid trances that may lack an awakener, may result in permanent change, or otherwise go on to alter that person’s life negatively, long after.
7) Hypnosis is meant to be fun, and erotic hypnosis is meant to be too, so for safety, make all hard limits clear and respect them. Testing those limits is okay with consent only. Learn those limits well and you can avoid abreactions.
