He had the weekend off for the first time in what felt like forever. So with a bizarre amount of excitement. He had decided he was going to go for a walk through town. Which he did most days anyway, But he was going to take a different path this time. Most days he only walked through town, on the same short path, to get to and from work. But today, He was walking for fun! Maybe he would stop at some shops and shop around a little, or get some chinese. He hadn’t ate out in a long time! What a treat that could be.

He was humming a melody as he walked, enjoying the nature around him. It was one of the many things he loved about living in Misty Bay. Everything was so… magical. IF you thought nature  was magical. Which he did.

Lily woke up with a headache, one that appeared to get stronger every passing day as long as she carried that dark magic filled pendant around her neck. The people at the hotel where she was staying were far from helpful when it came to giving her directions to the nearest pharmacy so with patience running low she decided to go find it on her own. Thirty minutes later and she still had not found it so she took the pendant off in in surrender and sat down on the sidewalk for a moment, looking at her phone only to realize it was dead. The sudden humming approaching caught her attention and she got up at an instant awkwardly waving at him, “Hey, sorry, but do you know where I can find a pharmacy around here?

“I’m really starting to question why I chose a career in law enforcement. This past week has been hell, literally.”

“Haven’t you guys thought of a way to stop them yet?” She said referring to the demons. Up to that point Lily had been walking over to a restaurant to get some food but the girl’s sudden comment made her stop. “Before moving here I heard something about them, about how to stop their power.”

“Sometimes it is.” the black-haired fae said as he turned slightly towards the woman who just came in. He had come in here quite a bit since he arrived in Misty Bay and sometimes it was so lively, it was almost rowdy and neighbors sometimes complained about the noise  interrupting whatever activities they were doing. Other times it was so quiet that it may as well be closed for the night tonight was one of the ‘in between’ nights.

“I suppose I chose the wrong night to show up? I’d say it’s a shame but maybe it’s better this way.” She said casually with a slight shrug of her shoulders. “So do you speak from experience? As in do you work here or do you just come here often?” Lily asked. “The place when I come from is a little more lively than this on its bad nights, so it got me wondering.”

Glancing at the distance between them, he allowed a smirk to spread on his lips. He couldn’t say he hated the closeness, he had always been a rather physical person. “Does it bother you so much?” He said before a grin graced his features. “But if I told you my name, wouldn’t it ruin the purpose of the masks? Though I guess, if you give me one dance and we both enjoy it, I could give you my name. How does that sound?”

“I would be lying if I said yes,” she said bluntly. It was perhaps forward and she didn’t really want to fall into his game so easily but something about him felt familiar and she couldn’t just deny that. “I suppose that’s true but if it makes you feel any better I’m new to town and don’t really know anyone. I guess one wouldn’t so bad, though, after you?” Lily offered, moving off to the side so he could lead the way. She would have followed him gladly, but then she heard someone call out his name. That familiar name that had brought her to town in the first place, “Theo? Are you fucking kidding me?” She asked, abruptly taking off his mask... and there he was, looking as good as ever. “You ungrateful idiot,” was all she managed to say through gritted teeth before unleashing all her anger towards him with a punch to the face.

Daniel pursed his lips and felt his head sink in momentarily to his chest, a small smile of acknowledgement breaking though. “Right. You’re not the only one..I was debating whether to come in myself for a while.” he chuckled, “What’s wrong, too many people for your taste?” The hunter hadn’t quite yet decided what to do still, but he had to admit he was still somewhat curious about what that woman seemed so worried..or even just nervous about. It was his obligation (he felt) to help, after all, regardless of what others might say. 

Lily shook her head, there was a part of her that wished she would just tell the truth of what was holding her back and making her sick, but the other knew it wouldn’t be wise. How often did people openly talk about dark magic in that town anyway? “It’s not so much that, I may just be coming down with a summer cold, I heard those are common and I feel like it’s ruining my initial desire to give the party a try and meet people while I’m at it.” She said, absentmindedly still holding onto the pendant around her neck.

Theo left out a small laugh at her words, although he still kept his hand on her arm as if he wasn’t realizing it. “Either awkward or it would force us to be incredibly close.” He suggested before finally letting go of her. It was only then that he took in just how beautiful she looked. That was a feeling he hadn’t felt in so long, he thought it left him. Sure, there were a lot of pretty girls, but this was on a whole different level. At the risk of sounding cloché, Theo always thought it was that thing people call love at first sight. “You look… very pretty.” He managed to say after a moment.

Somehow his forwardness didn’t bother her as much as it should have. There was something deeply familiar about the stranger and the more she stood by his side just looking up at him the more a fear sank in as to who the person behind the mask could be. “You are already incredibly close.” She pointed out, smiling slightly to avoid bringing much attention to her features as her cheeks blushed from his compliment. “Thank you, so do you, but are you ever going to at least tell me your name? Or are you just going throw pick up lines at me?”

Theo wasn’t exactly looking where he was going, trying to spot Danielle in the crowd. He had lost her a while ago, and it seemed unfair to just ditch her like that. But then again, he just couldn’t find her. Not paying attention lead him to bump nto someone. He barely even had time to turn and catch the other’s arm to make sure they wouldn’t fall. “I’m so sorry, are you okay?” He asked with a small frown, not letting go of her arm. “Perhaps I could get you a drink, or a dance?”

Lily was getting more bored with the party than originally expected and not because of the party was bland, because it wasn’t, but because of the dark magic that had been weighing her down since her arrival to town. In attempt to distract herself she went to look for the waiter that had been distributing drinks. When she spotted him she tried to capture his attention but instead ended up bumping into someone else. The act made her lose her balance but at least he managed to catch her. “Yeah, fine.” She said as she stabilized herself, shooting a quick glance to him and later to her arm. “I’d say yes if you were to let go of me, it’d be a very awkward dance if we stay like this.”

“Mhmmmm.” Sipping her drink, Peta took a second to turn to the woman who had spoken to her. “Got here a few days ago and just figured, why the hell not? Parties like this are a way to meet people, I guess.”

Lily nodded, smiling slightly at the other before putting her drink down back on the table. “Me too, just a couple of days actually. I thought it would be fun, but there are really a lot of people here.”

Daniel was in no hurry to get into the Gala tonight, even if he had happened to make the effort to dress nice for once. That is, a slightly more expensive suit than normal, alongside a decent pair of shoes, a mask and minimal hunting gear (including a knife and a gun). He had sat and waited in the parking lot for a while, half-expecting to see Brandon, half-deciding when it was the best time to make an entrance, Reed style, before he promptly gave up on the latter. So he picked up the stairs from the garden one by one, and was ready to sneak in when he felt a nudge against his chest, stopping him and making him look down at some young lady, who had somehow missed him. “..no worries.” he frowned, moving out of her way a little bit. “Are you alright?”

Lily glanced up at the man, her fingers still tightly wrapped around the pendant. She often wondered if choosing to find the man that hurt her was worth the price she was now paying, but there was no knowing for sure until she found him. “No.” She shook her head, looking back at the ballroom filled with people actually enjoying themselves. “But I will be... eventually. To be honest big town parties like these have never been my forte, but curiosity got the best of me this time around.”

The gala was beautiful, there was no denying that. The amount of detail that had been put to make it all believable was incredible, but the more Lily spent her time amongst so many supernaturals the more the enchanted pendant around her neck drained grew heavy. She felt its power grow stronger at their presence and although she had at one point thought she could handle it, it was now becoming too much. Finishing up her drink, she put empty glass on an empty table and rushed outside. She was opening up the doors to the garden when she walked right into someone that was coming in. “I’m so sorry.” Lily apologized. “I just- It’s just really hot there.” She said, catching her breath.

Henrik wasn’t much of a party person but that was when parties happened all the time and all people wanted to do was party. The gala was a different type of party event, it was one that Henrik typically enjoyed, despite the craziness that could happen when all the residents of Misty Bay in one place. He was leaning against the wall in the middle of the room with a drink in his hand as he watched some of the other guests.

“A party and you are the second person I see not socializing.” Lily mused as she picked up a drink. “I don’t blame you though, I don’t know what to make out of all this either. There’s just so many people.”

“I’ve not really a Christmas in July kind of girl. Maybe Halloween in July, but not Christmas. But I have to admit this is pretty cool.”

“Does this happen every year?” Lily asked. “I’ve never attended one of these and I feel like they may be too much.”

Peta wasn’t much of a party girl. Actually, she was - just not this kind of party. She was more into the wild drunken ones that usually ended either with her throwing up or in someone’s bed. So she was a little out of her element at this type of formal event, but she’d had nothing to do and had figured, why the hell not? So she stood against the wall looking a bit out of place in her short black dress, unmarked brown bottle ever present in her hand because no way was she going for the fancy wine in delicate glasses.

Lily had attended the ball by herself, unsure of what to make of it as she didn’t really know anyone. She walked around the house aimlessly, ignoring the amount of magic she felt run through her whenever she got too close to a supernatural. It had been about fifteen minutes until she finally to give her feet a rest and sat on a chair next to a table filled with drinks. She grabbed one, took a sip and then notice another person just standing there. “Are you also new to town?”

“Staring could be a bit uncomfortable, but not this time because it’s obvious you were not doing it on purpose, so it’s fine.” Maeve nodded at the girl’s name and gave her a quick smile, while she would have offered to shake her hand, touch was something that definitely made Maeve a bit uncomfortable. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“Or was I?” She teased, shaking her head a bit. “Nice to meet you too. Sorry for the blunt question, but are you a local here? I just moved her today and I’ve been wondering if there any hunting areas around?” She wondered curiously.

“It’s fine.” Maeve smiled politely, not all that bothered by it to be honest. She had not even really noticed it, her mind still being a little preoccupied with work, “It happens, don’t worry about it.” She tried to assure her, “I’m Maeve.”

“Great,” Lily grinned at the girl and turned around for a moment to pick up the drink she had ordered. “Hopefully it doesn’t happen often, I would hate it people stare at me for too long for no reason whatsoever,” she chuckled, “My name is Lily.”

“Not all the time.” Arya replied, turning around on her bar stool with a drink in hand when the girl spoke. “It’s still pretty early and most people prefer to come out and have fun later… when it’s dark out and it’s more easy to get away with things.” she said in a teasing manner, “are you new around here? I don’t think I’ve seen you before.” 

“Is there meant to be some double meaning in those words or are you just messing with me?” Lily looked at her curiously, feeling her pendant grow heavier, just as the old witch had said would happen at the presence of other supernaturals. “Maybe, what makes you think that?”
