Emily Browning filmography » THE UNINVITED (2009) as Anna
Anna returns home to her sister (and best friend) Alex after a stint in a mental hospital, though her recovery is jeopardised thanks to her cruel step-mother, aloof father, and the presence of a ghost in their home.
Reblog if you absolutely LOVED the City of Bones movie and don't care what the critics say.
I want to prove that those dumbass critics are DEAD. WRONG.
We are not Twilight.
We are not Harry Potter.
We are not The Hunger Games.
We are the Mortal Instruments. And our fandom kicks ass.
"Ok." His smile remained and soon enough it was their turn. "One lemon tea with milk, one hot chocolate, one chocolate chip muffin and one raspberry muffin, thanks." He ordered politely and a tray was in front of them quickly with their order. He payed swiftly, leaving a generous tip to a thrilled looking girl before taking the tray over to a window table. "If you wish to read or anything, don’t feel like you have to be social." He smiled and took his mug of tea, adding some brown sugar and stirring, the steam smelling greatly of lemon and herbs and the calm, cozy atmosphere had him in a great mood.
Lily sat across from him and smiled as she grabbed a stir stick from the little tableware packet and stirred her hot chocolate around lazily. "I'm fine. This is the longest conversation I've had with another human being in 2 years. I'd rather keep this going than do something I do every spare minute of my life," she teased. The air was a mix of lemon and chocolate and it was filling her head with a feeling of warmth and kindness, something that she rarely ever felt.

142: McDonald's or Burger King? Um... I don't know. Probably McDonald's even though it's usually loud and cramped, so I don't like eating in there.
87: The last movie I saw was... uh... I think it was The Lion King. But I can't remember right now, since I'm pretty sure the last time I watched a movie was over a year ago.
44: One person I wish that I could see right now... would be my parents. I know, that's two people and they're dead, but, I would do anything just to be able to see them with my own eyes in real life, not through a picture, and remember them. Remember everything about them.
He took a short moment to get a grip of himself. It had been so relaxed and nice and he wasn’t about to blow it. He turned and smiled at her before pulling her over to the line eagerly. He was craving some coffee and something sweet. “What do you want?” He asked as the line moved slightly. Most people got an order to go so the café itself was relatively empty and calm which he liked. New York was good that way, usually people didn’t have time to stop and sit and relax. That way it was easy to find a quiet, relaxing café despite the busy city.
She smiled at him glad he was smiling again. "I'll just have some hot chocolate and a chocolate chip muffin," she replied as they moved forward in the line. This part of New York was nice and quiet which Lily preferred over the busy lively streets.
"It’s actually not that far." He got the doors open and gestured out the door with his hand with a slight, dorky bow to have her exit the building first. "It’s actually a coffee shop bookstore kind of place, I like it." He explained, at ease once he had closed the door and they were headed out the gates together. He did not do well with many people around but Lily was friendly and he felt relaxed. It was a nice, unusual feeling. He motioned for her to follow as he took a left after the gates and up a street just around the corner to find the coffee book shop store place. "So what do you do? I mean.. with the.. um.. you must have some abilities or.." He sighed and blushed slightly, flashing her a weak smile. Way to be social, Alec.
She smiled kindly at him before walking out of the Institute, giggling quietly at his attempt at chivalry. "That sounds lovely. I've always wanted to visit one of those, I guess I just never had the time," she replied as she waited for him to join at the bottom of the steps before heading off past the gates. Lily stumbled in her mind for an explanation as to why she felt so comfortable around him. It was so unlike her, she was usually always tense and on guard around new people, a habit she had taken up the moment she moved into the Institute, but she almost couldn't do that around Alec. She followed him as they turned left past the gates and up the street and around the corner. "In my free time? Read, mostly. I like t play the piano, so I'll do that from time to time, but not often," she explained as a stray hair fell over her face.

1: did you answer all these truthfully ?
"Oh no it’s okay.. I just miss home sometimes I suppose." He relaxed his shoulders and smiled softly as she bent down to stroke the cat lovingly. He could have sworn Church flashed him a smug look at the act and he shook his head in amusement. "He likes you.. He almost never likes to be petted." He told the girl just as the elevator came to a halt and the front door came into view. "Up you go, Church. Go find Izzy, she’ll give you food." He smiled and rolled his eyes as the cat meowed happily and skipped back into the elevator. "Silly cat." He mumbled and pressed the button to bring Church back up before striding over to the door and opening it for them.
"Yeah, I know," she replied to his statement about Church. "When I came to the Institute he basically became my only friend," she patted his head before straightening up. She laughed at Alec's order to the cat and smiled at Church before the elevator doors closed. She turned back toward the boy and smiled. "So where is this book shop?" she asked as they headed for the Institute doors.
My muse is dying in your muse's arms. What does yours say to them?
He had to think back a bit, recalling the move to New York before he could answer. “About 8 years now. I was 11 at the time. It’s home now as opposed to just shelter.” He smiled weakly but felt haunted by the sudden reappearance of childhood memories he was not fond of. They reached the elevator and he pressed the button as Church happily stroked himself against their legs.
She frowned slightly at his sudden mood change. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked," she watched Church rub against Alec and lowered herself down in the elevator to stroke his back softly.
"Me neither." He chuckled and slipped the bookmark into the book and put it on top of the pile again and stood up. "They say going outside is good for you, let’s try it." He smiled and motioned with his hand for the exit before taking the lead up the steps to the massive hallway. He felt more comfortable with Lily than many other people. Not as comfortable as with his sister or Jace but way more comfortable than any other stranger he had met recently. He liked it.
She smiled and stood, grabbing her book bag and draping it over her shoulder before following him up the stairs.
"How long have you lived in the Institute?" she asked trying to make small talk.
He thought for a moment, humming. “I think I know where we could go.” He smiled weakly, his eyes still on the page until she spoke again and he looked up. “I’m sorry, manners. It’s nice to meet you, Lily. I’m Alec.” He introduced himself but skipped the offering of his hand as was usually expected. His personal space circle was extra big today. He thought for a moment again before looking outside, then back at her. “If you want.. if you have time, we could go now.” He spoke, uncertain of the outcome but Izzy always told him to be more open and social. He was trying.
She smiled at him. "It's a pleasure to meet you Alec,"
"I would love too go now. It's not like I have anything else to do," she laughed slightly and slipped her book into her bag. She felt very comfortable around Alec, which was a new feeling to her.
"Glad to hear it." He chuckled before flipping the page. He read almost all of it before looking up at the girl again. "What kind of books do you like?.. Just so I know which store to show you." He smiled before shifting his eyes back to the page.
She traced her fingers over the cover her book. "I like romantic-adventures. Where there's action balanced out with love. Like life itself," she answered. "My name's Lily by the way," she told him realizing she hadn't introduced herself yet.
