EROS AND PSYCHE
EROS AND PSYCHE
In the end I decided to change my final piece and created a children’s book, almost cutting the use of colour completely as I just couldn’t seem to make it work. I am quite pleased with the way this turned out, but I realise now that I would have preferred to create my images in printmaking.
EROS AND PSYCHE: MEDIA
I found it challenging to use such a broad range of media and it was difficult to create work to a standard I was happy with. I have often struggled with the use of colour in my work so I limited my colour palette.
EROS AND PSYCHE: WORLD-BUILDING
EROS AND PSYCHE: INITIAL IDEAS
At the start of the project I was working towards a final piece in the form of a graphic novel. I sketched out a storyboard and started to experiment with different media; my favourite illustrator, Dave McKean combines different media within his work and I wanted to try it myself. After creating a loose illustrated frame for the story I decided what media I wanted to use for different parts of the story, for example, paint and colour for the gods, photograms for the underworld, etc.
SELF-DRIVEN PROJECT: EROS AND PSYCHE
I have recently been researching Greek Myths and prior to the self-driven project I had just finished the audiobook Mythos by Stephen Fry. I decided I would like to illustrate my favourite myth, the story of Eros and Psyche.

Narwhals
Narwhals, like unicorns. Narwhals like unicorns. Unicorns of the sea.
In the freezing Arctic Ocean. Underwater. Swimming magically.
Horns like swords. Horns like wands. Spiral Tusks waving majestically.
Bluish-grey and blotchy white. Narwhals are the key. To feeling free.
Magic vacuums. That live in the sea. Hoovering fish up constantly.
TELL US ABOUT IT: THOUSAND CENTURY MAN
Throughout this project I struggled to make work in response to the world of snooker. I am not pleased with the end result, but I am glad I tried to combine two of my passions.

TELL US ABOUT IT
It took me a long time to decide what aspect of the game I wanted to base my project on. In the end I decided to focus on a character within snooker and create a biographical zine.
TELL US ABOUT IT
For this project we had to choose a topic of interest and create work explaining or illustrating it. Pool and snooker have played a huge part in my life so I thought I would combine my love for art with my passion for these sports.

VISUAL DIARY
Although I thought I was experimental with my visual diary, I suddenly grew envious when I saw other students work; many of them were self-made books made from found paper and rubbish. After handing my original diary in for assessment I made a new one to work in straight away.
