The concept of reader being cannibal!ghosts favorite pet...
You're just the sweetest thing, his pet who never fought him even when you were first 'adopted'. All sad eyes and cowering form.
That scares little thing is long gone now, and ghost is proud to see how far you've come. The chain constantly affixed around your ankle has gained considerable length, allowing you to meander through most of the home so long as you're careful about slack.
You eat all of the meals ghost makes for you, even if you can still hear their friends screaming in the basement. Where you once covered, you now happily lie at ghosts feet. Only occasionally do you look longingly at the outside, or at the attic or doors.
Then it happens.
You wake up one day and something feels...off. only when you roll over to stretch do you realize your ankle cuff is gone.
Ghost is startled by you rushing to him in the early morning, fat tears rolling down your face like it's your first month with him. You hold the cuff up to ghost, devastated "it broke!! I didn't– I didn't touch it–! It fell off! Sir!!"
"Woah, hey, hey runt." Ghost soothes, gently taking the cuff from you. He swipes the tears from your cheeks but that only serves to smear blood over your face "hey. You didn't break it, I took it off last night."
"...you took it off?" You echo, eyes wide. Ghost nods, expecting joy or even fear, but instead you begin to sob properly. Your hands grip at ghost, voice wobbling "no!! No, I'm sorry! Don't– don't let go of me!! Please, sir? I'm good, I can be good!"
Oh. That's...adorable.
"I'm not getting rid of you, runt." Ghost shushes, scarred face pulling into a grin "just givin' you free reign. You can go explore, but be back when I call, okay?"
"...oh." you nod, numb "uh...okay."
Even with your newfound freedom, you stay right by ghost all day. You insisted on keeping the cuff, even if it had no chains. You don't even try to run, not like you'd get far either way.
You really are the perfect pet.
