(Apologizing if this is all over the place, I also used colored text to connect some things since it’s kind of jumbled lmao)
Ok so ik I sent that other ask like 2 weeks ago but continuing my train of thought:
Rewatching episodes(Se2,Ep12), my belief has been even more confirmed that Saiki is so far on the opposite side of the average spectrum that he’s so much of a magnet for abnormalities(the same magnet that Satou is for clichés) that the universe will never let him and Satou truly cross paths. Their magnets would just repel each other. (So Saiki is peak abnormal. Satou is peak ordinary. Everything about these two follow their respective words.)
Both parts of this theory have been even more validated by that conversation with Toritsuka where Saiki declares he’s gonna make friends with Satou:
(“He’s just an average kid, so the people around him should be average too.”
“You don’t think of yourself as one of those average people, do you?”
(smirking) “Using Satou as camouflage, I’ll blend into this school perfectly.”
“Even that expression isn’t normal.”)
And that’s not even taking into account the failed friendship attempt immediately afterwards that confirms me even more lmao
You’re so right actually? You mean it’s like “if opposites attract were actually magnets facing the same side”? Horrifying trope especially on Saiki’s end because he can’t help but know satou, but satou will never really know him. Sure he knows his name - Saiki is part of the popular crowd and you’d probably (averagely) know at least half of a popular persons name - but satou will never truly cross paths with Saiki in an intimate way. It’s physically impossibly. I think my original opposites attract post was before I watch it before even the release of reawakened but I distinctly remember that even the satou x suzimiya episode Saiki did not talk to satou at all and satou did not see him AT ALL in the episode. If Saiki did not have telekinesis I believe now it would be incredibly unlikely that him and satou would even lock eyes.
It’s such a doomed one-sided love trope I can’t stand it.
I also would like to bring up that satou seems to be unaffected by direct usage of Saiki-psychic-power? His hair remains brown (and I’d like to say so so his eyes even if they’re technically more in the yellow side) which is insanely suspicious considering Saiki had LITERALLY ALTERED THE HUMAN GENOME to include crazy hair and out pink as one of the most common hair colours. Which brings the question “why is satou considered average if his hair is brown?” The entirety of the class have coloured hair, even classmates with no name have on average more yellow and green hair rather than brown.
If satou is the most average human, the idea of him being a genetically alter being (like the rest of the planet) is considered an outlandish idea at the time of the mutation. So (hear me out) Saiki’s mind and mutation powers must not work on him because the average human does not go through genetic mutations and hypnosis!
Now taking this; satou must be held by our human standards. He heals as quick as we do, he reacts like we do and perceived the world as we do. He’s basically an audience member like ourselves (image that lmao him being the 4th wall Saiki is talking to).
Idk what that would mean past that but the fics would go crazyyyyy.
Sorry for the rant but your comment really inspired me to go on a Saiki-resistant-satou tangent.
