This has been a series of weeks lmao. Had a fairly traumatic experience, a move, and a major health scare in the family in rapid succession. I still have very strong muse but it's all fixated on a few specific interactions.

So I'm taking a break from the blog, will be around on discord. If I haven't been replying on discord for a while, feel free to poke me again to chat and plot! It's where I am all day at work

Usually I'm a lot more social, but my energy levels for carrying social interactions is pretty low rn so I've only been engaging with people who have been putting in a lot of the energy and effort on their part

So few people held real curiosity towards the true nature of Sorcery, or only understood it in superficial ways. Few matched Satoru Gojo in sheer knowledge in the field, and no one could meet the same level of understanding that he did. It made him appreciate those who were drawn to the idea of reaching that point of enlightenment, and made him wonder if he could push others to similar revelations.

"I think approaching it with a purely scholarly lens really misses the heart of sorcery," Satoru mused as he allowed Jett to bandage up the self-inflicted cut on his arm, the 'control' next to the already healed perfect patch of skin. She'd been curious to see reversed curse technique in action; he'd happily indulged her. He'd been amused when it then came with the trappings of scientific jargon and methodology, but he'd played along.

"Sorcery isn't just about physics and numbers, it's about resolve. I didn't master reversed curse healing by studying it," he continued with a smile, flexing his bandaged arm to test how much the pressure stopped the bleeding, confirming that he'd made the cut shallow enough to not interfere with muscle and movement. "I took hits on purpose in the field. I put my life on the line, so I had to master it. So I did."

He'd still been a student at the time, freshly manic from his resurrection and eager to test the limits of what he was capable of. He'd returned from missions with his uniform ripped and soaked in his own blood and gore, sporting a beaming smile at the flawless skin underneath— to his friends' horror. Not everyone could understand the lengths needed to achieve the true heights of sorcery.

He rolled his sleeve back down over Jett's little experiment. "Not that it isn't useful to have a solid theoretical knowledge; but just saying, you're never going to truly understand it if you're not willing to take real risks."

pressing his full weight against satoru's abdomen using his knee, sukuna speared his hand down, aimed right for the jugular to rip open his throat. specks of blood decorated his face to which the curse licked around his lips. 'yum.' he couldn't wait to sample more.

Two regrets: that his best friend hadn't been there to see him off into his final battle, and that the King of Curses had held back in their climactic showdown.

Satoru must have really done well in his life, because the karmic reward of this death was paying dividends for both lingering disappointments. Even as his blood spilled and pain lanced through his body, he felt an incredible thrill that he would never have enough of. So few things ever truly challenged Satoru Gojo, and the gift of something to overcome was an eternal desire that was being well-satisfied.

His brilliant blue eyes flared as Sukuna lapped up his lifeblood, swearing to himself then that he would return the favour; even if he could not win this round against the King of Curses, he would slice his opponent open and taste that iron in return; he would see the surprise and admiration in Sukuna's eyes as he turned the tables once more, proving time and time again why Satoru had been the strongest of an era. He'd earn that mutual respect they held for each other time and time again.

Reversed cursed energy ran in overdrive as Satoru pushed up with his technique at his back, unaffected by the domain amplification his opponent held down at his gut and his throat, a manic grin crossing his face as he pushed through those points of contact. The flesh of his neck ripping open around Sukuna's hand and his belly crushed through a knee but it did not matter as long as he kept himself alive and aware enough to control Limitless, pushing his body past its physical limits, literally, as it tears apart. It all happens in the fraction of a second at dizzying speeds, the force that slammed their bodies together with enough force to turn either of them into paste.

Half a second later he was lying free on the ground, limbs regrowing as rapidly as they could, him stumbling onto legs just as soon as they'd reattached around the hole in his abdomen and flying back at Sukuna even before his windpipe reformed, blood spilling in a bright red streak in the air behind him.

All he needed was to be even a millisecond faster than Sukuna at pulling himself back together.

Today's mood is obsessing about how Ao no Sumika is written from Satoru's pov talking to Suguru, and Akari is Suguru's pov talking to Satoru

The campus alarms were blasting at full volume and the boys hadn't escaped the scene of the crime quite fast enough. Satoru and Suguru busted out of the empty classroom followed by billowing smoke to run right into the towering figure of their sensei. The protective dome of Infinity around him and his best friend dropped with a look of guilt on his face, and the smoke enveloped all three quickly, searing lungs and drawing coughs with the acrid smell of cursed residue and burning.

The incredulous anger in Yaga-sensei's voice as he demanded answers made even Satoru lose his typical insolence, and he glanced sideways at his friend for support. Crap, Suguru was going to spill the truth at any moment; that they'd had the dumb idea of merging multiple curses together, and in their excitement they'd both forgotten the ban on curse manipulation on campus, as well as any safety measures before they tried to summon an explosive fire curse with a flying one.

"We were uh— attacked?"

Well, nobody ever said he was a good liar, and the moment the words slipped from his mouth and he could see the steam start spilling out of sensei's ears, Satoru knew that today's detention is going to be extra brutal.

Okay but honestly idk, I can't really blame gege too much for it. He already admitted that he didn't succeed in writing the culling games the way he wanted. That must feel awful as an artist to know the version of your work out in the world isn't your vision. Weekly publishing schedule is brutal and terrible for the creative process

So can't fault him for having had grand ideas and not being able to follow through on it. Did you know that mangakas have an average life expectancy 20 years lower than the average in Japan? It is a brutal shitty job

So yeah the ending is pretty underwhelming but there's still all these amazing characters and lore that we get to do whatever we want with and I intend to do just that

Multiple victims, all of whom had their body parts rearranged in a way that left them alive for at least a few hours, almost always within a timeframe where it was likely for them to be found. Most died from rearranged organs failing to perform their biological functions, yet everything crucial in the short term remained properly connected, even if warped out of place. Fascinating.

The fact it was so widespread and affected victims in a way that could obviously be attributed to a supernatural phenomenon to lead to a panic, made it pretty high priority. While people tended to imagine the Strongest Sorcerer mostly handing cases that just needed a really hard punch and a big attack or two, the precision of the Six Eyes was incredibly useful for investigating tricky cases.

So he found himself crammed into a tiny elevator retrofitted to a building that must have been around since far before the war, the walls smelling of decades of damp and mold and lines of all kind bolted along walls and ceilings ( electrical, cable, fibre, plumbing— ) and with corridors low and narrow. Ugh, of all the victims to check out why couldn't it have been somewhere less gross.

And with air conditioning. The brutal summer heat had him stripped down to just a tank top and it still wasn't enough.

The manager assigned to him wasn't quite a stranger; he remembered her vaguely from his last year of high school, but he honestly could not even remember her name; she hadn't left much of an impression on him back then.

Though it seemed he was leaving an impression on her as of this moment. As he pinched the front of his shirt and flapped it in and out in an attempt to cool himself down, he caught how she didn't seem to know where to put her eyes, glancing from his biceps to flashes of exposed chest before finally pulling up to his face where she'd be met with a knowing grin and mischief twinkling in blue eyes peeking out over solid black lenses.

"Getting distracted already, are we?" he teased in a tone that made it clear that yes, he noticed, and no, he doesn't mind.

On Satoru's family

The very first headcanon I opened up this blog with was mostly just the idea that Satoru had siblings, as well as both his parents were alive. At the time it was kind of just a quick thing and I threw info down without too much thought, but over the past months I've been lucky enough to have been able to explore that aspect. Satoru having been taken from his parents and raised by the clan as a whole took its toll on his immediate family.

Minoru Gojo, his mother, has her overall story more fleshed out in this post detailing the political circumstances of the modern Gojo clan. She had been late in her pregnancy with her third child when he was identified as the next bearer of the six eyes.

She and her husband Shoji had already been prepared to welcome their new son into their life; they'd picked a name and had prepared their home for the new arrival when the news broke. Their son was given the traditional name of Satoru rather than what she'd wanted, and she gave birth in the ancient structure built to house the child of the six eyes rather than in the comfort of her own bedroom. She'd only been allowed to hold him when she nursed him in his infancy, and he was whisked away from her swiftly after each time to be looked after by specially trained caretakers from the Imai clan.

This took an immediate mental toll on her that left her in a depression that took years to climb out of with the support of her husband. She got to watch her son grow up in her vicinity but he would never call her his mother and she was never allowed to treat him as her child. She watched him raised in a way she never would have wanted for him, knowing assassins were after his life, seeing the pressure put on him and the way he hardened into something cold and alien over the years.

She dedicates much of her life to watching over him from a distance, and even as she became his primary advisor after he took over the clan as the new head, he would never view their relationship as anything but a working one.

But to her, Satoru would always be her son.

Shoji Gojo quit his career as a sorcerer in order to support his wife. Their status in the clan had risen massively from having birthed the bearer of the six eyes, and they had all their material needs taken cared of without him needing to work. To be entirely honest, he was glad for that; he was not a particularly strong sorcerer and it was a shitty job. He stressed often about the possibility of a violent early death and how a busy schedule often kept him away from his family, leaving his own parents and his wife to raise his children in his absence.

He does have complex feelings about the lavish "lazy" lifestyle that had been bought with his third child's birth. Every time he hears of another sorcerer dying out on the field, he feels a mix of relief that it wasn't him, and then the guilt that he wasn't out there fighting and earning his keep. He felt a coward whose peaceful life had been secured by having a son who would never be his, and knowing Satoru would spend his whole life spilling blood in his father's stead.

It wasn't normal for a sorcerer as weak as him to hold as high of a position as he does, and he can feel the scorn and judgement constantly levied his way for his unearned status; some imagined, and much of it very real. Shoji is a quiet anxious man and he is rarely seen in the family compound, preferring to stay in the privacy of his own room most days.

Katsumi Gojo Kimura was the eldest brother. He was seven years old when Satoru was born, and his life before and after that event was vastly different. Excitement for a little brother soon turned into confusion at politics that went over his head and his mother's sudden decline. For the years after that, he and his little sister were mainly looked after by his paternal grandparents who took care of their material needs, but were not invested in them in the way their mother had once been. Katsumi found himself parentified in the care of his little sister.

He came to resent Satoru, who he saw as greatly privileged at the expense of destroying the peace of their family. Katsumi also had the bad luck of being born with Limitless, a technique that is completely non-functional without the six eyes. It's a common condition within the Gojo clan, where producing "useless" sorcerers like him was an acceptable sacrifice to increase the chance of the Six Eyes bearer inheriting the technique.

It made Katsumi feel like he'd almost gotten everything that Satoru was handed on a silver platter; the prestige, the attention of everyone within and outside the clan, the special training and what seemed like everything he could ever want. Even his mother seemed obsessed with her youngest son more than her other two children that she had once given so much of her love and attention to. Even after she seemed to have recovered from her initial depression, she'd never given them the same quality of attention since.

It was like he'd been thrown away as worthless trash for the sake of his prodigal brother.

Years later when he was well into adulthood, he'd learned to let go of that envy when he realized he was happy with the life he had. He'd found a loving partner, been able to become a second grade sorcerer even without a technique and was capable of taking pride in his accomplishments. He was at peace with his own lot in life. He'd thought back to the life his little brother lived and saw the way Satoru could never escape the scheming of clan politics and issues at a scale Katsumi just could not bother to care about. He eventually changed his name to his wife's to cut his final ties to the Gojo clan, putting his resentment to rest.

Hisako Gojo was only three years old when Satoru was born and she was too young to truly remember the event. But she spent much of her childhood left alone, shunted between caretakers and often left as her big brother's responsibility. She spent a lot of time being put in front of a TV or given books to burn away her time. Her technique allowed her to change the passage of time to her own perception, and she spent much of her childhood "fast forwarding" through her life once she'd gained a measure of control over it. She's impatient, finds it hard to follow conversations and easily loses interest in most things.

She was sent to a private elementary boarding school at the age of 7, and never returned home to live permanently since.

By the time she was a teenager, her high school years spent in an apprenticeship to a man who specialized in the storage and transport of cursed tools, Hisako came to learn that she had never been able to experience a family that was not torn asunder and broken into pieces. One time she was invited to a friend's house and sitting around the table with her friend's entire family, siblings, parents, and grandparents all together laughing and eating from the same plates. She'd realized she had never experienced such a normal scene in her life, the closest being large celebrations that involved the entire clan where she'd been left at a small table at the side with the other children, except Satoru who had always been seated by the clan head.

Hisako craved to pull her family back together, and when she learned that Satoru was going to the Tokyo campus of Jujutsu High instead of staying home to finish his specialized education, Hisako transferred there as well to work in the cursed tools administration department.

She would spend the next decade working to rebuild her relationship with her brothers and parents, but would eventually come to the conclusion that her vision was in vain. They would never be able to be a family in the way that she wanted, and she would have to live with that.

Could it be considered cruel to find amusement in the rarity of the moment? If an entire meal was incapable of filling up belly, the onyx-haired man feasted on the sight of his red-cheeked best friend. Had it been anyone else, mobile device would have been at the ready to commemorate the moment for all life . . or until digital images were destroyed. Had it been anyone else, he, too, would have broken the gap between their bodies to pinch warm cheeks. Getō Suguru did none of those things nor did he feel flattered that he was being shown such a closely guarded side to his best friend. He was happy however. Their entire friendship was evidence enough that Suguru was special and earned insight into the very intricate emotional and mental spectrum that made Gojō Satoru @limitlessscion who he was, yet this was far more than he would have ever expected.

Satoru really did trust him and love him as a friend. He also looked endearingly cute attempting to appear pompous while donning those pink-hued cheeks, yet Suguru doubted it was romantic love his friend felt. It happened all the time — long standing friends often dated solely due to the bond of friendship and all the years it had taken to get there. Marriage also occurred when long time partners decided to settle despite no genuine love being present. People were afraid of being alone. Suguru figured Satoru simply believed that was what made a romantic relationship . . being comfortable with someone in a way no one else could inspire. That was not what it meant for Suguru. He, however, could not bring himself to outright shut out his friend.

Both in fear of the damage it would do and because Suguru's feelings were strictly platonic. He had felt something powerful for his friend and believed he had given up those feelings a long time ago. Yet as many things changed there were still tiny bits of a person and their emotions which remained the same. For all the confidence Satoru exuded, he was putting his heart on his sleeve. The heart that was meant for Suguru's eyes only but not his secret heart; that was a heart no person was supposed to view. He was thankful for the distraction the restaurant provided and the overall jovial mood set upon their conversation; it allowed Suguru to thoroughly consider his thoughts while dancing around the subject with a playful sentence.

Knowing things would get uncomfortable ( on Suguru's end ) or look falsified, the onyx haired man did not allow banter to hang over the air.

Had Suguru said yes to Satoru's proposal, would the ivory-haired egomaniac be alright with such limited conversation for months? Even within a platonic relationship, they sent messages, be it silly or merely images, throughout the day when school and work applied too much pressure for face-to-face time. They had gone through long bouts of not communicating to each other through any means, but that had been in their youth when they had come across each other through competition. Satoru was a regular fixture of Suguru's current life. As much as he jested his friend would be facing a difficult time, he felt it would be difficult for him. If nothing else, there was the reliability of Satoru saying something humorous. He pondered these things as he wasted no time putting away his food.

Why was there not an immediate enthusiastic yes?

Satoru could see gears turning in the glint of Suguru's eyes and felt like he was going mad waiting for the stretching seconds. The aura of bravado Satoru wore so comfortably was slipping fast under the weight of his friend's calculating gaze, as the possibility of a rejection brush at it, poking for signs of any cracks. His held breath released with some frustration as Suguru seemed to dodge the question once more with a quip on his embarrassment, and the red that dusted Satoru's cheeks only deepened with the comment.

He was just about to retaliate by leaning over the table and flicking Suguru in the face over his endearingly dumb loose bangs, and probably dissolving this whole endeavor into a childish food fight, if Suguru had not immediately dived into the next part of his thoughts. Satoru's nose wrinkled at his friend's words that dissected that part of his motivation he hadn't understood yet kept brushing off of his thoughts like rain on Infinity. He hated how Suguru seemed so effortlessly to put feelings into something more concrete— yet even as it made sense, it still didn't.

"Hah, how would I ever lose you? " Satoru sat back further into his seat, disappointment and agitation settling into his motions as he broke his chopsticks out of its paper packaging and cracked it apart. There was another argument at the tip of his tongue, thoughts fleeting by his brain through the absence of context that he knew would help slot these emotions perfectly into place.

"Come on Suguru, I'm not being impulsive, seriously! Arrrgh, this is so embarrassing!" There was something about the advice that sounded comically like what he had to be told by his friend to avoid impulse purchases. Sure, the DDR machine wouldn't have fit in their dorm, but Satoru's still not sure he would have regretted it. If the washroom door could only be opened halfway before being blocked off, then so be it.

"I've been thinking about this for a while, okay? I just..." How was he able to properly express his feelings? Was he scared of losing Suguru? Was it just as his friend pointed out, that they were going to be facing a period of isolation from one another, and this was all just some anxious compensation? It's not like there's a threat Suguru was going to run off with someone else during that period; every other person on that expedition was boring as hell.

"What's the difference if we do it before or after?" Satoru was nearly whining now. "I'm ready to commit, now."

To say interactions between the two have been uncivil, would be an understatement. Though, Gojo did almost kill the kid after all. It should be expected, but the older man still couldn't understand the cold shoulder the younger man was giving him. It had been a month now. Time to get over it! He was alive and well. Satoru should consider it a learning experience and be grateful to even have fought against someone as strong as Gojo. Other sorcerers would kill for the chance.

A sigh escaped him as he stood up from his spot on the floor, walking to the kitchen. Perhaps he was being too hard on the kid. He was a teen after all. Life was already hard enough for teenagers without the added worries of being a young sorcerer..... or nearly being killed......twice? Whoops. Gojo rolled his shoulders and neck before beginning to grab ingredients he had bought some days before. Pancakes were a nice for an apology breakfast, right? Nah, he'll have to add something else. Strawberries? Whipped cream? Perfect! He can get behind that.

It didn't take long for him to look up the recipe on his phone, carefully following both the written and video directions. Sure, he made a bit of a mess, but no matter, he'll clean it up after he was finished just before the clean freak came in. He carefully plated the food onto two plates, adding the strawberry topping carefully. Next up the whipped cream was added to the top in a neat cone. When he was happy with his product, he cleaned the edges of Satoru's plate to give it a more neat finished look than his own. Perfect! Gojo was so proud of his work, he even took a couple pictures. Quickly, he cleaned up his mess.

Perhaps a better mood would be formed between the two with the addition of sunlight to their little breakfast. It brought people happiness, right? Even if it brought him a bit of discomfort, perhaps the two needed a dose of sunlight to liven them up. Against his body's own complaints, he opened the curtains around the living room and kitchen, quickly soon after placing on his sunglasses. Once he was totally satisfied with the surrounding, he placed two sets chopsticks onto the plates, and picked them up carefully balancing them on the palms of his hands.

"Satoru! Breakfast is ready~" The older man spoke in a sing song voice, whistling even as he made his way to the smaller table in his makeshift dinning room. The apartment wasn't truly big enough for a true dining room, but honestly it didn't matter. Perhaps having to have moved with the destruction of the last apartment, Gojo could have bought a bigger place. Though with the record of the last apartment being destroyed, money could only get you so far in negotiations. They were lucky to have a place to live after that!

Satoru had always been a light sleeper, but even more so in this apartment that had become a prison. To say his relationship with Gojo was strained would be putting it lightly, and he'd shot awake instantly the moment he'd sensed motion in the other room, his sixth eye too sensitive to allow him rest. He'd stayed curled up in bed, listening to the sounds of the kitchen with some consternation. He hoped that soon the man would leave before he started his own day so that he did not have to share a space with his counterpart.

The sound of his own name made him tense up, the sing-song tone a volatile mockery. He held his breath for a long moment as he ran through scenarios in his head, wondering what it was that Gojo had planned. Satoru had been formulating various plans since the disaster of a month ago and he felt some panic at the thought one had been discovered. He'd adapted to modern technology quick but he still did not understand it all; did the man know he had been looking at bus routes to Jujutsu Tech? Searching up contact information for one Shoko Ieri? Trying to make his way onto curse user forums?

With some dread dragging his steps, Satoru slipped out from under the covers and changed quickly out of pyjamas in the pitch darkness of his room, though he could sense the warmth of sunrays hitting the walls just outside. That wasn't typical; for bearers of the six eyes, both of them preferred to dwell in darkness.
