when i was a kid i was so mad all the time bc i thought someday i'd have to be somebody's wife i didn't know it was optional. is everybody reminding the young girls in their lives that it's optional.
AND SO IS BEING SOMEBODY'S MOTHER‼️
it is about being a woman. hope that helps!
reading comprehension questions for the notes:
is wanting to be a wife and mother a requirement for being a woman?
why might OP be annoyed with replies assuming that this post is about being aroace or transmasc if a woman doesn’t want to be a wife or mother?
are there reasons unrelated to sexuality and romantic interest that might make a woman not want to be a wife or mother?
are there reasons unrelated to gender identity and expression that might make a woman not want to be a wife and mother?
core concept: what is gender essentialism?
is it gender essentialism to imply that all women inherently want to be wives and mothers? could this be what OP is critiquing?
look at the notes OP responds to. is it gender essentialism to imply that being a wife and mother is so affixed to womanhood that to not want to be those things means you’re incapable of sexual/romantic feelings, or not a woman?
what trait are you perpetuating when you assume that women who do not want to be wives and mothers must be aroace or trans? is it gender essentialism?

as a german, seeing people treat the ruthless murder of disabled people at the hand of the nazis as 'a side quest' and as 'less important' fills me with absolute rage.
disabled people were the first who were killed because they were seen as easy and socially acceptable targets. not even the catholic church going 'could you maybe not??' stopped the torture and murder of many disabled people at the hand of the nazis, and the catholic church still had considerable power at the beginning of the nazis reign.
the nazis were profoundly ableist, big fans of eugenics and its fucking depressing that i even have to say these things because it should be fucking obvious.
either way, morg, i am so sorry that you had to witness these absolutely atrocious takes.
thank you for your support. I’m also sorry you had to read those. things are really scary right now in the US of A and the absolute absence of history education probably isn’t helping. I was very fortunate to have very smart adults in my life and close Jewish friends who taught me about the Holocaust at an early age. as a disabled trans American adult whose parents are(were) disabled, I swear that I see echoes of the original Eugenics movement in people’s attitudes and in the law and in our societal apathy towards COVID. In the things they say. In the actions they take.
to this day, for me, it’s stunning to hear a fellow American say a phrase like “life unworthy of life” while blissfully unaware they are quoting mass murderers. there is a great big emptiness in our general understanding of fascism. This is not surprising if you know how the U.S. reacted historically to the Holocaust (apathy) but it does suck to live in this version of events.

In a recent interview Tom Hiddleston did with MTV (they also did sleepover interview and party skit ft Jessica Chastain), the interviewer was talking about Broadway 'Betrayal' and he was like "you like play Loki who IS the betrayer" and Tom agrees and they laugh hysterically for several seconds and truly reminds me of when dedicated fans had to agree with casual fans so they don't look crazy explaining how they truly feel and it makes me sad 😔
Hi, sorry for answering late. I was on a long hiatus. This ask was sent to me on December 22, 2019.
Yes, I remember watching this. (10:00) I like how Tom goes on to explain Loki is both betrayer and betrayed. And Josh is like you're still in character. And then Tom proves he is being objective by saying that what Loki does is retaliation. The thing is, it's easy to buy into what the narrative tells you. And TR, the latest movie Loki was seen in, portrayed him as betraying Thor all the time.
What drew my attention though was that (14:00) Loki's death in IW was supposed to be final. Tom knew about it two years before filming it when he was in talks about TR. When Tom shot that scene he thought that was the end of Loki. He learned about Loki Series, 6 weeks before the world wide release of IW which was April 23, 2018. That means on this press conference which was held on October 11, 2017 he didn't know there would be a Loki Series. And yet when he said "I'm still here", CH smirked mockingly knowing what would happen to Loki and it was the end of the character for Tom. Wow...He really couldn't contain his happiness about Loki's death.
The idea that women must be feminine or other way they are badly written it so sexist, women are not a monolith, they are a very diverse group of people just like men are. You all have no problem with Loki not being a typical man but Valkyrie suddenly is unrealistic because she is not feminine enough?
That is not what I said at all in this post, which surely you’re referring to. There was literally nothing about her characterization or her not being feminine enough. What I was criticizing was the idea that in order for a female character to be strong they have to more of a guy than the guys, they have to be more masculine(which is what TW implied). This belief reinforces the idea that masculinity is better/stronger than femininity. And being feminine means weak. Which is not true. None of them is inherently better or the reason a character is strong and powerful. My main point was that it’s toxic masculinity to use phallus symbolism as a sign of power/strength(specially for a female character) which has been used for the same purpose by patriarchy through history.
