I think my old girl may be developing arthritis. Wish her painless days
She’s so happy
Downsides of Lina getting old: she makes noises/snores when breathing now and I keep getting worried
This is the face of someone displeased that her mother didn’t bring snacks
Apparently Lina sleeping is mature content thanks tumblr
She disapproves
She has this whole space and yet chooses to sleep in the litter box
Bunny binkies! 🐇
Found this old photo of Lilly from one of their many backyard field trips
What is he plotting???
Mastermind of the breakfast heist guaranteed
Any bunny owners have some advice?
Cheesecake's eye is a bit red, just under it, not on the eye ball. It's probably nothing, but I'm a worried mom. I think it just might be irritated from his dig box or rolling around on the carpet. No crust or discharge, he's not excessively rubbing it and isn't showing pain signals. He is eating and drinking and has energy, but he's blinking it a bit more and has taken a couple more naps than usual.
I just noticed, so I'm probably going to monitor it until morning! Anything I should watch for, or does this sound like a big deal?
Hi there!
So it sounds like an irritant so Id suggest first getting some pure saline eye contact lense solution with no additives (the only ingredient should be saline! Just NaCl!) and GENTLY flush out the eyes in case its a debris irritant. You might wanna burrito him for this. Keep an eye on it for a day or two. If that doesnt work:
You can always get an eye antibiotic ointment for animals. Shockingly you can get it off amazon and so i keep it on hand for my rescues.
I keep terramycin eye ointment on hand always. The brand terramycin isnt sold anymore but what you are looking for is:
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride with polymyxin B sulfate.
The Pfizer brand is what I use. If it remains irritated, use the ointment twice a day for 4-5 days. It should clear up if its a mild infection from an irritant
Youll have to restrain, and on the EYELID you squirt a generous amount and close the eyelid, gently manually opening and closing the eye to get it in. If you have questions reach out!
This is good info! I'm also curious what else you'd suggest people put in an emergency kit for their buns
-sterile saline for flushing wounds
-terramycin ointment (forgot to add this can be used in and around the eye and face)
-gas drops (20mg/ml)
-oxbow papaya tablets for blockages
-critical care
-triple antibiotic ointment yes the same one humans use. (for use NOT ON THE FACE)
-can of pineapple (no sugar added also for blockages)
-vet wrap and sterile gauze
-chewable benadryl. If a rabbit gets anaphylactic shock this is the only out. For example, pulling out a botfly improperly will cause the worm to rip and it is extremely toxic and will put the rabbit into systemic shock rapidly
-immodium for diarrhea (1mg/ml) it will slow gut movement and is safe to use in bunnies. This is for severe severe diarrhea. Ive only needed to use this in cottontails.
-kaolin pectin: I use this stuff if rabbit poops are even a little runny. Its basically bunny pepto bismol.
-syringes, oral. I opt for 20cc syringes with a slip tip. I like to keep 1cc oral syringes (no needle ofc) for things like kaolin pectin, immodium, and gas drops. All on Amazon or go to a pharmacy and ask for oral syringes at the counter.
-chlorhexidine solution. Itll be dark blue and you diluted with water until its like sky blue and watery. Wash wounds with this that are NOT on the face or ears!! This is very important. I use this stuff and cotton q tips to clean anal glands too. Always use a rolling motion with the q tips not swiping or itll increase the likelihood of irritation
These are the ones off the top of my head! The main ones I use most often are gas drops and critical care as well as the papaya/pineapple.
Bunny
Its so hard to take bunnies seriously when they're mad. Like okay, yes you're upset but you're also wiggling your nose and stomping your little foot. That's not threatening in the slightest.
this is actually HILARIOUS because both domestic rabbits and domestic cats practice dominance-related social grooming but for wildly different reasons.
if you're a rabbit, the boss rabbit is the one who gets groomed by its subordinate rabbits.
but if you're a cat... the boss cat is the one that grooms the other cats.
BOTH these idiots are going "aw yeah, it's good to be on top >:) "
Gave him some cilantro and now he wants to jailbreak about it
I don’t think you gave him enough - Lina
Having a pet bunny is great because they are filled with the same amount of crimes as a cat but with like half the braincells
Well I got the bunnies stackable cups and spindle nervously ignored them and nima yanked out a cup, plunked it in the water bowl and proceeded to sluck up a lot of this new terrible soup.
