I realized I can’t trust my own thoughts... and then realized the paradox of it all.

Shoelaces

have you ever been in a mental institution? they take away your shoelaces they leave you in your room and keep the door open a tiny bit so they can check on you every ten minutes and make sure you’re not going crazy because in a world where everything’s irrational sometimes people find themselves on the wrong side of the line and in your ward they have activities like puzzles and pianos and they try to reason with you and tell you you didn’t mean to do it that your head just wasn’t screwed on at the time when they don’t ever realize that it’s their heads that are screwed on too tight and in the morning a buzzer goes off at 5am too early to get the worm and they hand you a plate with a small cup of water and a pill and they tell you to go back to bed and there you lay in bed for hours until your eyes start to water because all you can do is try to stop the flashbacks but all you can see is the inside of your head and again and again you shift you fly faster and faster with ambition parallel to the speed of light and you know what you’re doing and you’re thinking more clearly than you ever have before and all of a sudden it’s dark and you open your eyes and the boy on the stretcher next to you is looking into your eyes and he can see right through you
