Edo Exploration: 52 playing cards • I guess at this point, I should just do this for life 🙃 • Due to the report of the return of the Benin bronzes to Nigerian by international musuems and also personal research, I decided to dig deep into the Benin history and courtesy of information gotten from online and personal sources, I learnt about the unique and rich culture of the Edo people and how their link to the people of Ile-Ife came about. Also, part of my ethnicity(Ekpeye) is linked by oral documentation to the Edo people. When I finally came onto designing a 52 deck playing card, the Benin culture was my go to.
