i’m thinking about obi-wan tonight. he never fell. he lost his master, his grandmaster fell, he lost satine, anakin fell and obi-wan thought he killed him, he lost his family and way of life, he never found out what happened to ahsoka, padme died, he witnessed the rise of the empire and the death of his republic, he spent twenty years alone in the desert with only his trauma and ghosts, and before he died he was forced to come face to face with anakin, who he must have viewed as his biggest failure, and he. didn’t. fall. not once. he didn’t need redemption. he stayed entrenched in the light for his entire life.

he wasn’t a perfect man - he was prideful, standoffish at times, upheld the rules but bent them constantly, and didn’t see the warning signs about the republic and war he took part in until it was far too late, but he was a good man. obi-wan never fell despite the living hell that was his life, and i think that’s why he’s my favorite jedi.

he’s not the perfect jedi, no, not like mace or luminara, but he’s the one most dedicated to serving the light in my eyes, because he looked the dark in the face every time and said no, i will not falter.
